tragic hero?

why not jeff? he's trying to save his girlfriend, who, despite all his and the rest of the boys' efforts, is "unattainable."

keep in mind that the phrase appeared early on in the series, and it doesn't *have* to foreshadow something that will happen much later on. jeff makes the most sense for me because at that video, it was setting up the disappearance of jessa and the subsequent (and apparently doomed) search for her.

Because Jeff's story might end up being a tragedy, but that doesn't make him a traditional tragic hero. His actions aren't probably going to be his undoing.(He's probably undone no matter what he does).

Although, Jeff's story in relation to his brother might fit the role. Alex probably would have been fine if they hadn't gone and found the Rake.

Wow kudos to everyone!
all of these "tragic hero" theories are great, so much so i cant pick one that seems the most probable.

I'm thinking the bagheaded fellow is habit. From what I can hear, it seems like a voice says 'habit', and then the person turns around. It looks as if the person responds to that name, like a certain other fellow we know.
After 'habit' i hear 'fuck you'. That's all i can interpret from it, and i can't think of what it can mean, but i just thought it was interesting that sir baghead turns around immediately after hearing 'habit'. Also, here's to hoping this hasn't been brought up before.

It fits on multiple levels.

-There's the possible habit whisper

-If you sync Win a Rabbit to the video, the first time habit is said is at Baghead

-If Baghead is Evan, which it kinda looks like, we've got the Corental letters basically naming him Habit(or someone of his namesake)

Going back on the flood theory, what if the scenes of people drowning are from a future in which the world is flooded again. The series has a set future, and Slendy can't carry out his intentions until the EHM crew is dead?

Going with the stage directions, that would mean that the tragic hero and unattainable companion enter at the same time, did this happen, I can;t think of two people entering at the same time.

And going with the video game sound of the continue message, it makes me think of companion in that sense too. (like Fallout) So not so much, a friend, but someone who could help, follow blindly, but somehow stopped. This makes me think of Alex. How soon after the unattainable companion message did Alex start posting or first seen in videos?

I would check, but my Anatomy studying has waited long enough.

I said this once before a few hundred pages ago and it went unoticed, but I strongly believe the "Tragic Hero" is Jeff and his "Unattainable Companion" is Jessalyn. It seems the most obvious meaning to me.

Jeff is the "tragic" hero as a flaw in his judgement will cause his demise. Thus far, it looks like his flaw is determination. Jeff is so determined to find Jessa that he is forgetting the health of those around him. Alex has already been claimed by the Rake, and if he hasn't already, will be killed before Jeff has even the slightest notice. Jeff, because of his determination institutionalized Damsel who may in fact be the answer to all of our questions. TL;DR, Jeff very well fits the classical example of a tragic hero as very crucial flaws in his thinking which could possibly lead to his death and the death of others have been exposed at this point.

As for the unobtainable companion, who else could it be rather than Jessa? She has proven unobtainable; every attempt the Hybrids have made to find her have done nothing but bring more questions. It's as if the more they search, the more distant she becomes.

Lastly, has anyone considered that the "Begin" is simply signifying the start of a series of events that will bring the downfall of the Hybrids as a result of the "tragic hero?" It's very interesting that as soon as legitimate physical violence begins, a countdown signifies the start of a "singalong." Just a thought.

My very first reaction, after my stomach twisted, that is:

"Uh oh...."

Doesn't that usually mean someone upended a pinball machine, or otherwise jostled it and therefore lost a ball (player). O_O

Edit for spelling... makes more sense now. haha
