FL Discussion forum [Too bad we can't vote for flynn] is a very random posting, particularly mentioning gerrymandering Question
As LIGHTNING257 previously mentioned. Wiki defines Gerrymandering as: "... a form of boundary delimitation (redistricting) in which electoral district or constituency boundaries are deliberately modified for electoral purposes, thereby producing a contorted or unusual shape" Question Question

I took the gerrymandering to be a reference to Clu actually, he seems like a renegade program (who looks like a politician with that perfectly coifed, bouncy hair) who has been taking over the grid in a slow manner, expanding his district more and more which leaves Flynn and programs who don't fall under his command forced to reside outside his district. It is all very Roman really. The gamegrid in the original movie was a private toy of the MCP but in the previews it seems like something for the masses. And, as every Roman politician (or historian) knows all you need is energy and the gamegrid to keep your support programs in line. Wink I'm kind of expecting Clu to take the Caesar's assassins' approach since I believe he has already commented on ending the tyranny of the user. And Flynn is far more like Julius Caesar than Tarquinius Superbus. Oh gosh, that'd make Sam Augustus, wouldn't it? And Clu would move into the Antony position as the well liked and established option in replacing Flynn (since he's kind of old and crusty in the trailers I don't think he'll be returning to power). Ah, but then who is the Lepidus? Maybe Rinzler? But he seems too cool to be the Lepidus. The comment of voting for Flynn would be showing support of him, and/or users as a whole, regaining territory and taking back the system.

But then again, that would mean Zack and others posting on the board knew of the plight of the programs. *Pardon me while I put on my tinfoil philosophizing hat.* Unless Zack is a program trying to get the world of users to help out? That would explain why he seems to know so much and how he can guide us all in the game. Maybe the ARG is supposed to be his way of collecting user support. So maybe the next clue will be on the Encom intranet or that desktop that gave us the unlocked vehicle sketches? Kind of a stretch but you know, not much to work with here.

And on that bombshell, I'm going to head off to bed. Sleepiness always does inspire the more oddball theories for me. Though it has given me no help on diving any clues for the game!

I think all of this is merely a coincidence, but here are some pictures I saved while messing around with the idea of the pins being markers in the game.

Image 1 - a cut out of just the area within the points. (I used the Tron Guard standing on top of the building because he is the only lone guard that is facing to the right as depicted in the pin.

Image 2 - cutout of the same area with the entire game image flipped horizontally.

This is where I noticed something interesting. People have pointed out the boat in the water with the reversed "BOAT 234" written on it. When I flipped the image horizontally, the shape of the points marked by the pins began to look like an arrow, that pointed directly at the boat

Here are some other random connections I've noticed:

The 'arrow' points to the boat, which a google search suggests "U Boat 234"; which was originally planned to be a minelaying submarine. The other end of the arrow is the clue for the game mine sweeper. The boat depicted in the game is obviously not a submarine though..

There is a boat manufacturer called "MAKO" that has a model "234" which does look somewhat similar to the boat depicted in the game. http://www.mako-boats.com/boat/?boat=3293

Again, I'm sure these are all mere coincidences, but, let the theorizing begin.

Pins
Why these items from the AA challenge?

If there really is more to these pins than just a reward, what I want to know is why were these particular things from the poster chosen as pins?

What do they have in common? Of the four, three of them are titles of games. If my understanding is correct, Punch Out and Face Off were both titles in Japan first.

Punch Out
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Punch-Out!!

Tron
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Tron_%28video_game%29

Face Off
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Face_Off_%28arcade_game%29

If I recall correctly, the guards feature in the Tron 2.0 game.

I've been looking at the challenge again, and they all seem to be in the same area on the right side of the game board / poster. So maybe there will be more to see, based on Zack's "hint" on the note included with the poster (sure hope I get one).

Just thought I'd share my thoughts.

I'm not quite sure when I finished the challenge because my flynn lives got unlinked from my facebook profile as well, but my browser said I visited arcade aid at 11:36 so I want to say I finished about 12:00-12:15 pm california time?

The poster is very large, about 36 x 19.5 in, I'm having a hard time finding a frame for it.

was that AM or PM?

11:36 AM and finished at noon-ish, I'm in California as well

I actually checked the note again with all the emphasis on secret clues (no luck finding a blacklight), I was hoping to see "Right " mentioned 4 times as a more obvious clue, but alas it looks like only 3 times.

I got my pins Friday in the Chicago area (finally! Smile ) -- Punch Out and LightCycle.
They were postmarked Nov 6. I finished around 11am the day after the puzzle came out. I don't think I'll get a poster, but the pins are impressive.

Have yet to receive my Arcade Aid poster. Hopefully it'll arrive on Monday IF I have, in fact, been picked for one.

pins

I asked my best friend to do the challenge and thank the user he was able to get the ones I didn't have.

This was before we even knew what the prizes were. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to get a few extras for trading purposes.

Hmmm, looking at Google Maps... This may sound a little far-fetched, but you don't think that BOAT-234 is actually a boat docked near the Oakland Bay Bridge - maybe near the Ferry Plaza, or Pier 14 ?
