[OT] Anybody else feel left out?

I sure as heck do, me being in canada, I didn't get to answer any axons, and now it seems like so many people got phone calls asking for there help, and can't remember actually adding too much to the .wavs theories that were right, other than being right about Jan dad being a spartan. Then there the puzzles I always seemd to miss out on, though I couldn't've found them out anyways case I'm horrible from that point of thinking. So anybody else feel left out? or is everyone who did feel left out already left? Confused

I am sure there will be plenty to do in the future. Spec is highly appreciated in the community, and without it, there would have been some trouble with the questions Melissa was asking on the phone. The whole rank and special priveledge thing given to people who answered the phones yesterday was more just a reward for taking time out every week to get those axons, and it is greatly deserved. I really hope no one left, because I think there will be plenty to do in the future, and we may need as much help as we can get.

Seeing as I'm in London, thebruce and I would have to rock-paper-scissors for who got to pick up the axon if one got dropped into SW Ontario. Though if thebruce has a car he's got a definite leg up on me.

Actually, I was feeling sorely left out for a while but yesterday's transition from axons to interaction seems to have broken me out of that. The boat-load of new and VERY juicy info has got me excited... this is the first reference to a SPARTAN-I program ever, and it sounds to be canonical so far. W00T! And the storyline is getting more intertwined, and there are more shades of grey coming out and some interesting textures starting to show and...

I was feeling in the dumps but not anymore.

Actually Anton is very correct. We "lucky few" who have been "identified as crew" will desperately need the rest of the community going forward to keep us on track and to help us evaluate and corroborate any information we acquire from Melissa (that we are not sworn to secrecy on).

West Australian here.

Yeah, it sucks not having axons nearby, but I occupy myself with spec, doing tasks, making documents (I'm actually working on an ILB MS Access program) and such. If we got phones, I think we would be complaining (like our American counterparts) that there have been too many. X3

There is other stuff we can do, even if the nearest axon is hundreds (or thousands) of miles away. For example, Isn't the Wiki supposedly terribly out of date? http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=75179&highlight=#75179?

Yes all toot true, but all my theories seem to end up ening wrong (and I call myself theorizer!) I tottally love the storyline, it's ingenious what the PM have done, but there was also those people given ranks such as ensign which really bewildered me, cause I don't know but some of them I barely remember being here as of late, but yeah I'll continue to think, about how this entire thing still keeps me up at night thinking about it.

I think it's great that the first person mentioned in game (by Dana, xnbomb) is also the first person to become a member of Melissa's crew Razz

seems our legs are fairly tangled then... I have no car... neither of us can get very far (cheaply) to get axons Very Happy but, drop it in my region (KW/Cambridge, maybe Guelph, surrounding areas where I have loads of friends living in the country), and I'm good to go... Smile

The nice thing is that, to date, the Sleeping Princess has been pretty polite about hiding her puzzles in the same places, at roughly the same times each week -- that is, approximately 9:00 a.m. PDT. I'd say your best bet is to log on to this forum, or the IRC chat -- or both, if you're daring -- at about 9:02 a.m. PDT. That way, even if you think you won't be able to find the puzzles yourself, you can still participate in the solves. Frankly, I think the increase in puzzles is a direct PM response to quiet grumbles from players who can't get to axons. (By the way, PMs, if I haven't mentioned it recently: THANKS AGAIN! Mr. Green )

And believe me, there is no such thing as "horrible" at these kinds of puzzles. Just look through the puzzle-solving threads, and you'll see ideas tossed out by different people, three or four pages apart, that eventually lead someone to make the final connection. Every single puzzle can require a different solving technique, and many of them may require knowledge of things that only a few people know. You never know when you'll be the first one to think, "I'm a musician, so I bet 'fa ... la' is a clue for 'so'!" or "Hey, maybe those four-digit numbers are all dates!" or "Gee, the highest number here is twelve. Could be a calendar, could be a clock, could be-- Okay, it's a clock."

Hey cool It's lieutenant Shad0, *stand at attention* Sir permision to say that the puzzles are difficult, and I think mostly abstract ideas, If puzzles were a course I'd fail it. Laughing I'm feeling a better now, I was for whatever reason just feeling out of it, I still kind of do, one can only listen to axons so many times over before start listening to music again, and if I remember correctly It's either when I'm asleep, or at school when they update, unless It's a weekend, then I'd probably sleep past it anyways Wink

Here is something that may put a smile on your face Theorizer. In the live phonecall, Melissa talks about stoping the rogue process, which in this case I am taking to mean the Sleeping Princess. But the SP is the character we have basically come to terms with as the good one, the helpful one. So it may be possible that this is a start to an ingame battle between those that stand with Melissa (the beekeeper "crew") and those that stand with the SP (the rest of us). And of course, since the SP group is so much bigger, we would win without a doubt.
It's all just meaningless spec, but that might cheer you up a bit.

Don't feel bad guys. I got a live call and she hung up on me! I got no love, the call lasted less than 25 seconds. I don't know what's worse: not getting the opportuninty, or getting the opportunity and failing it. (Finally starting to get over this) But it's cool, I know how involved everyone wants to be. I feel the same way. I wish I was in college or was unemployed so I could fully immerse myself, but I have to balance this game with all the other aspects of my life. All day at work, I want to go answer axons, but I can't. I feel the pull and I have to resist it! Such torture! 'Cause the job is important too. Think about it this way. This is a secret club. We are it's members and we are making history. We have our own terminology, our own in-jokes (dancing robots, anyone?) and we are playing this story. I can imagine just as an observer, it doesn't get much better than this. So keep your head high, beekeepers!

Maybe next week they will add a few axons outside the US... But if they don't we'll keep supporting those that go to the phones and unlock the files.

I dunno, I still feel really screwed. Until I came to Pittsburgh, no one else was grabbing their phones. And now I take time out of my schedule every week to get to my 5 payphones and keep this city afloat for this game. I never miss a phone, except one. I get an axon spike, didn't realize what it was until too late when I was talking with Melissa, and I get passed over because I choked and didn't know what to say?

Is it my fault? Sure it's my fault for not recognizing the spike. Am I pissed off? You bet. Have I considered just letting the phones ring and let someone else worry? Oh you bet I have. I am getting sick and tired of answering the 5 phones in this town. (Well, 3 now since the last update, thank God. And, by the way, those 3 phones are all in my area, which tells you something about who answers the phones the most by a long shot, seeing that the phones in the outer areas were taken from the list.)

And if I don't get recruited, I'm going to have a seizure in the Best Western lobby. Period. I do want a little acknowledgement.

And yeah, I know I sound really cranky right now and I know someone's going to post right after me saying that I should shut my hole because I had the chance and I myself screwed it up and I know that someone is thinking that I'm jealous of the people who answered the spikes correctly. First, no I'm not jealous, I'm proud because most of those people deserved it. Second, sure, I screwed up, but look at it from my perspective. Think about if you were the only one in your large city who was doing this game and you had to answer every single payphone in your area and then when the time came for you to get a little acknowledgement for your work, you lost because of one instance instead of looking back at the many many many others.

I think my point is made, I'll stop rambling now.
