When do you like to join a Slenderstory?

This question came to me when I was reading the "critical mass" thread.

Given how a lot of slender-stories these days don't really get on their feet until later on (EMH not kicking off till Episode 6, Tribe Twelve not getting going until the "Entries" were done), would you rather find a Slenderman story right when it's getting started and follow it from the beginning, or would you rather find it after it's been around for a while, do an archive dump, and then keep up with it during it's more "active" phase?

What I like to see is stories with enough background work and worldbuilding that you're forced to do an archive dump before getting to the Slender.

EverymanHYBRID did something like this with their Fake Slender Man to drum up views and interest while primarily focusing on character building. Episode 6 hits and you've got shit smashing into the fan while already having an audience. The world was established, and THEN Slender Man was introduced. Hell, I'd say EMH didn't really kick in until Joke's Over.

Seeking Truth was all about Conaghan for the first two months. Slender Man played an outside role as a refused option until the late stages of the story. Again, the first portion built a world with minor Slender Man details and then shit happened.

This is what I think a lot more blogs need to focus on. It's not so much needing an archive to binge as it is creating mass and depth to suck in the reader/viewer. Slender Man is much more potent when placed into a solid setting against a proper character.

I usually like joining a Slenderstory (or, rather, following them) toward the middle or end. I like to have content that others have seen first so I don't get disappointed by a bad one.

I also like worldbuilding, like kaleeshwarrior said. I want to know the characters in SOME way before the "Slenderman comes and screws with your life" moment. That's what I liked about Seeking Truth and EverymanHybrid. It was very much world building and character relationships, which sucked me into their plight rather than Marble Hornets and Tribe Twelve where it's like from the get go. It just feels... clinical. (Not that those series did not freak me out. They did.)
