[EMAIL] J. D. Richardson (God Mind)

I sent an email to Mr. Richardson on the Godmind site. I got back this autoreply:

Subject: On Sabbatical

I'll be on sabbatical until September 25th, but I am still checking my mail, so feel free to send me your comments and suggestions.

Thanks,

J.D. Richardson

I wonder why we have to wait? Maybe when this guy comes back we could answer questions about infrasound and the like, he seems like a sciency person who would know a bunch of stuff. Or maybe he personally knows the guy who runs the Dream Projector.

Just received this:
Quote:

Jehane,

Thank you for bringing this information to my attention. I was aware of some odd activity on the site, but not being much of a computer person, I had no idea that my image was being used elsewhere. No, this "fortyhertz" site is not mine - it's obviously run by a X-Files addict with too much time on his hands. While there is some truth to his claims, most of the information is the ramblings of a paranoid mind. I've taken steps to protect the image, and will be keeping an eye on the site logs now.

Regards the "Dream Projector" site, while I find the application quite fascinating, it is really outside of my area of expertise. The technology does appear to be non-invasive, so I doubt that it would be harmful. And of course, any company performing clinical trials on human subjects would have to be approved and regulated. Based on that, I feel that it would be safe to be a test subject. If I had more free time I might like to try it myself, as I often dream vividly, but have trouble remembering the dreams come morning.

Again, thanks for the heads up, and best of luck with your application as a test subject for the "Dream Projector".

J.D. Richardson

Dr Richardson,
I came across your site via www.fortyhertz.com – they seem to be
directly linking to your images. Is this your site also?

Anyway, I had a quick read of your paper and found it interesting. I
have been doing some research into a company that claims to have a
machine that can record your dreams via brainwaves – the Dream
Projector. Their site is at www.dreamprojector.com. What is your opinion on this machine, do you think it is viable? I have signed up to be a test subject with them and am really looking for some advice – could it be dangerous at all, do you think?

Best Regards,

Jehane (sequoya)

I got a reply to my little keep me updated email:

Quote:
Thank you for your interest in my GodMind site. I agree that it is a fascinating
area of research, and I fully expect to make a splash next month at the
conference. I've found that feedback from my fellow academicians is often the
best source of information, and I look forward to meeting with them in Athens. I
expect that the site will be updated with new information upon my return. I'll
be happy to keep you posted.

The picture on the fortyhertz.com site that was linked to GodMind now shows a broken link.

Do we think godmind was maybe not an ingame site?

With all the ARG references? S'gotta be ingame. The guy is just responding to my email like any good site owner would - get rid of the direct linkage.

I agree that both look like in-game sites.

The "steps" that JD has taken to protect his image involved simply renaming it from "brainwaves.gif" to "brain_waves.gif"

The fortyhertz.com site shows a broken link because it still links to the old name. It would actually be trivial for the fortyhertz.com to make a local copy of the image. But I think it's actually better the way it is now, because for ARG players who don't read this message board, it makes the connection to the other site even more obvious.
