It's not a text file, as far as i can tell.

i tried changing the file extension to different image and audio extensions, but no dice. If there's a way to do that and make it work, i'd love to learn how
I still think though, that there's not enough data for it to be a media file. Most likely, it'll be passwords or something later on.
HOWEVER! there is some audio in the video, played backwards. i'm working on cleaning it up right now, lots of static

All i can make out is:
Quote:
(unintelligible) over seven(several?) hundred (something) were sent below the (ladder?)
(unintelligible) maybe a hundred?
and weary travelers at a (distorted)
[this next part did not need revered]
hopefully i can get some stores(sores?) open
this is all i could get thus far. i need a better way to remove the static...
Edit: Hey, i learned about file attachments!

Awh man, this looks really interesting! I'll hop in and lurk around to see what comes up.
Also, just a little thing I noticed--the guy's hand in the video is 2D, and the colors on the "eye" video are blue and red, same as the colors used in 3D glasses and to make simple 3D images "pop." So I guess be on the lookout for blue and red, or stuff that's about seeing in different dimensions?

I've been messing with the audio "crazy-jake" posted and from what I've been able to get out of it, it sounds as though it's a news report regarding some sort of strike at an airport???
Quote:
....airport, it appears over 700 strikers stepped over the line today....
That's what I'm hearing, I'm not 100% sure it's right though?!

That makes more sense with the "weary traveler" line. Still, we dont have alot to go on thus far... Has anyone made any progress with the description on the first video?

Using the description on the website "booba" posted earlier, you get a binary file with a .bin extension. I've been playing around with it, but I don't think I have a solid enough grasp on the whole file extension thing to get it open. Here is a quote from another website I've been reading in order to try and open it:
Quote:
If you have a generic binary file, you will probably have to know what program it was written in to be able to open it. These files contain data stored in a binary format and can be created by multiple programs. "In general, a binary file will look like garbage when viewed in a text editor and unless there is some clue in the ASCII portion of the file (if any) there is little one can do to determine which program a particular .bin file goes with.
So, I'm guessing that we'll either need someone MUCH MORE tech savvy to get it open OR find out what program originally created it?!
Also, another angle I've been messing with is the blinks in the "Eye" video. Assuming the blinking has significance, they occur on the numbers:
49558264
It's possible the first number could be 1 or 3 since I can't hear the very beginning of the sequence, but we already know that it's Pi.

Uh, here's another one:

I just searched one of those strings of letters in YouTube. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but three seconds in, my hair stood on end. Gonna keep looking for more vids.

In the "Eye" video, the reflection remains when the eyelid blinks. Anyone have video editing skills?

....
craaaaap. how did i miss that, i watched it at slow motion a few times hoping to see something like that first qrcode spliced in.
Update: after going though in slow motion i cant make anything of note out. It could be an artifact from the low quality of the video.

That's not quite what I got. After cleaning up my audio extraction the best I could, this is what I can make out for the reversed audio:
... at the airport. Over 700 flights were canceled over the last few days. How many people on a flight, maybe a 100? ... weary travelers at ...
Almost sounds like a report about the Icelandic volcano eruption this past April.

would fit in recent time frames... but why go though the trouble to play it backwards and distort it so much? Why hide that , or any of it for that matter...

Not sure if this was mentioned but .bin files are normally connected and associated with .cue files to make video/audio.
I'm guessing we have to find the .cue?
Quote:
A BIN and CUE file together create a binary replica (disk image) of a CD or DVD in an image format. They are useful to create high quality back ups. They can be created and used by burning softwares or image file utility tools alike Daemon Tools.
ETA: I've just tried opening this in "FreeFileViewer" and this is what it gave me, not sure what use it is though?

I have a feeling that the hex code for that binary file is a cipher, and not the text data.
I also have a feeling that "ykMVZAnB" is the key to that cipher, weather on it's own or modified somehow.
Although my hex editor defaults to 16 bytes per row, I noticed that if you change it to 10 bytes per row that there also ends up being only 10 rows in the configuration, making a square block of code:
Code:
F7 77 5D 2B 3F 2A A4 02 8F ED
4B 60 5A C7 AA DB C7 D8 2E 25
0B A7 90 37 98 7A 1E 6F C2 BD
02 3B 4C ED 29 15 6F 29 09 F7
A2 92 40 2B 46 88 AE CB 9B 10
E6 8B 16 7C 17 7A C6 3D 9E 21
C1 CB E4 DD E5 67 CA 43 15 64
09 C1 52 93 69 D9 64 BA E7 DE
B1 52 39 33 85 75 F9 7D F7 4C
54 67 E7 F4 47 47
Which to me looks like the perfect configuration for a cipher, but I don't know enough about them to do anything more from here.

Seems the numbers are Pi (yum, pie).
The article also talk a little about Empedocles and Anaximander.
Also mentioned at Visual News at the end of the article is a prize for figuring the whole thing out:
Quote:
We'd love to hear your best guess of what this is all leading to. We will be giving away copies
of Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy to the most accurate guess (when it is revealed) and the
most ridiculously bizarre guess in the comments below.
Also, the title of the vid posted by 10empedocles is ykMVZAnB which has been mentioned but it also is Cd in Base64. Thought it was interesting as someone mentioned bin/cue and all.
