One of the programs could be using zack's identity trying to reach out for "the cause" to get some help in the grid for Kevin. By tracking down Sam in Brazil, having us get the word out to Alan in SF for OperationTron etc. I'm sure it will all be tied up nicely in a self-destruct-envelope from 42E any time now...

I suppose that is possible, but if a program was able to figure out a way to get off the grid and get word out about Kevin, why wasn't Kevin himself (architect of said grid) able to figure it out? That and the grid he is on is on his private server. Further, Zack has supposedly been at several of the RL events...

You could be right, I just don't see it.

Also, I didn't mean to seem rude with the eye-rolling thing, sorry if it came across wrong!

The TRON program acts as a firewall, so they'd need to get messages passed him right? Not to down talk Flynn, but Flynn created the MCP and TRON couldn't escape his clutches... I'm just kicking the thought around, seems like a neat twist that the person who has been giving us orders and having things mailed to us exists on the grid.

As much as a nerd/geek as I am, this is my first ARG, Hell, I have the whysoserious dollar sitting on my desk at work from when we got them to distribut, because I had no idea what it was for, had I'd known I would have participated. I've had an absolute blast this far in my first ARG, a TRON ARG no less!!!

Just my .02, I'm not dissatisfied or complaining-hell, I got a free phone and vintage Tron wallet my first day of playing-but come on. This wasn't an ARG. Sad

Worshippy Worshippy Worshippy

As much as I agree, I'd clarify that and say it's not a traditional ARG Smile From where we're from, this is straying from what we consider ARG, but in media, ARGs are hardly classified as anything specific; it's a very vague term. Ultimately, the reality of the movie world is encroaching on our own; there are games; it's interactive; there's a (thin) story. FWIW, for better or for worse, it's an "ARG". Confused

Otherwise, yes, I completely agree with your sentiment Smile

The stuff we love about large-scale ARGs seems to be falling by the wayside... Crying or Very sad

You've got a point there. I do think 42E's hands might have been tied a little on this one, but who knows. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed Flynn Lives, but as I've said before...I've felt more a spectator than a participant.

new video?

I was poking around and stumbled on this video on the flynnlives site.

Not sure if it's old news or not, but I haven't seen this video before, and the whole "endgame" thing makes me think I'm on to something.

For anyone feeling less than ideal about this 'ARG or not' situation, I'd like to point something out.

These posters being sent out aren't cheap stuff really. Even if they can get them printed for the same as it costs to ship them, this is a lot of money spent to give us cool stuff. There's 999 posters, and at least for the US it appears they paid $5.05 each to send them. That means just on shipping they spent $5k.

I'm a pretty happy little camper with my swag. I can wish I'd gotten more, but that doesn't mean I am unhappy I didn't and am unsatisfied with what I got. If you think there wasn't enough 'game' in this (like live events or people getting to interact directly with PMs or characters), go wear your FL shirt, pins, Encom badge, and hit the theater on or after 12/17 and see how much interaction you are likely to get. You may end up explaining it all to a small crowd. You'll feel a mile tall and pretty 'interactive' then.

As has often been said, its not the game...
Its how you play it.

Ideal or not, I have had a great time taking part in FL and I'm thoroughly grateful for every awesome gift (because that's what all this swag really is) I have gotten. All debates over how immersive and reality-bending this game has been aside, I have had a terrific time and I'm truly grateful to everyone at 42E and Disney for giving the fans such a great time.

That said, this is not a game...Let's go find Kevin Flynn!

To cure this OCD thing I have about the badges, is there anyway to get the Flynn's Arcade, Operation Tron, Gridlock Rendezvous and screen scene badges? What had to be done to get them? Is it still open?

Quick question
regarding badges

I know I can't get the badge Gridlock Rendezvous anymore, but can I still blast 99 and 999 Recognizers in Space Paranoids for the other badges? How does it link up to my Flynn Lives account? I know this old topic, but I'm just polishing my badge collection.

You must have a flynnlives login and use that everytime you do something to earn a badge.

Still bummed over a few of my pins (89 and space paranoids) going missing (still have the postcards and the id badge) i've been more than happy... spoiled really... with what littleof the ARG I've been able to participate in.

Plus You lot seem like awesome folk. Just wish I'd been able to get to some of the meatspace events... holding out hope for preview screening passes.

Anyone know if there's a huge quality difference between the sent posters nd d the fan made ones on posterboard?

Here's some very nice, very spoilery behind the scenes footage of Tron Legacy. Got some nice Rinzler action. Some Jeff Bridges in the face capture mask thingy doing some Clu work. A good 15 minutes of fun! http://www.collider.com/2010/11/20/tron-legacy-behind-the-scenes-footage-b-roll/#more-61426

I will admit, I made an embarassingly high noise when I saw Daft Punk was there
