I don't know how busy you are, but you should offer to make a few of these for sale. There's got to be some people even on just this board that would snap them up, not to mention eBay. I'd love this jacket, it's top notch!
these aren't as easy to make as one might think. I am hoping my light come in tomorrow so my glows for tron night, otherwise I have reflective tape 'just in case'

I was wondering if anyone who owns a Flynn Lives shirt wouldn't mind taking a high res picture of it (straight on if possible). I'm planning on using it to make my own shirt, but I need a high-res image of it so it doesn't pixelate when I print it out.

I've already made one stencil using an image I found online, but it was small and the image wasn't as clear or smooth when I printed it out. Because of that some of my lines aren't that smooth. I should have some pictures of it up, once I pull the stencil off. It's currently drying, and I hope it comes out alright. I spent a bit of time cutting that stencil out.

I made a big vector version a while back, you can use it if you want.

If you need/want it bigger or in another format or anything else, just let me know. I know the flynns is the only part there, but it'S big.

I was planning on screenprinting my own as well. I just figured that I'd never be able to get my hands on one of the originals in my size, or if at all...

Could anyone scan the logo, instead of taking a photo of it? There should be less distortion that way Smile

Best bet would be to vector that based on the picture Kevin was kind enough to provide.

I think if i were to make a replica shirt or badge, I would make a clear mark that it's a replica, as I would feel bad wearing something that's such a good replica it could be mistaken for the original.

I agree, but disagree at the same time. If I were going to be selling some fan merch, I wouldn't even make it the same logo, it would be copyright infringement.
Since I would pretty much only be making 1 shirt, for me, and not selling them, I don't feel bad making it look as authentic as possible.
I was planning on some differences anyway. They would be that it would be printed in a different color on a (not black) women's fitted shirt.

But I didn't meant to sound ungrateful for the image from Kevin. Thanks dude! :)

Try this image.

It is white on a clear background. For some reason, it looks black when viewed in these forums. Click the actual image so it opens in a new tab, then do the 'save image as', if you don't, for some reason it will be saved with the black background(?).

Print it on a black t-shirt, it comes out *perfect*. I uploaded it to a site called vistaprint.ca. It cost me (at the time) $3 for the shirt, $5 for shipping. And I'm telling you, it is perfect.
I posted an image of an earlier attempt on page 11 of this thread. I used a much lower quality image than this one, so my new shirt is much better than the one in the picture I posted.

The image is as big as it needed to be for vistaprint.ca, you can resize it if you need to.

EDIT: image removed. PM me if you want it.

I pulled the stencil off the shirt that I did make, and I'll post pictures of it tomorrow. My one concern was that because the lines were so thin that the paint would bleed through, happened on the shirt. One of the downsides with working with freezer paper. From a distance it looks legit, but up close you can see it. I'm still pretty happy with it though.

Apologies for the double post, but these are the finished shots of my stenciled DIY Flynn Lives shirt.

This is the final shirt from a distance. Like I said before, it looks pretty good.

This is the shirt up close. You can see how the paint bled through, giving it that "chinese knock off" look. I'm not sure of a way to prevent this though, unless I made the lines thicker. Any tips from veteran stencilers would be greatly appreciated.

From my experience with stencils, using pocket folders or some sort of tin works nicely.

I found the best way to do stencils for shirts if they're super intricate like the FL logo is to go to a graphics place so they can use their vinyl cutting machine to cut out the design, just make sure you let them know you want to use it as a stencil so they'll weed out the actual logo and not the surrounding vinyl before they put the masking tape over it. The masking tape on tape is what makes transfering the actual stencil much easier.

I made a vector recreation of the FL logo months ago that is spot on but never posted it due to concerns over someone using it to make knock-offs and selling them on eBay as the real deal. Guess it didn't change anything as knock-offs still hit eBay but at least the seller made them obvious (put Flynn Lives all on one line rather than stacked). That said, shoot me a PM if you're still looking for the help with the logo and I will forward you the file...

Good point. I removed my clear image as well. PM me if anybody needs it.

Not all of them made their knock-offery so obvious.

BTW. Syuzi rocks the Quorra outfit and will be posting a DIY for it, soon.
