Forgive me if I'm trouting. But I've just been going through the Wiki page on Fairmount Children's Home (Where Dr Courenthal worked), and on a page linked from there I came across this passage:

Quote:

In the twentieth century, Fairmount garnered a reputation as a truly miserable place for unfortunate Ohio children to be sent, and this was mainly due to the ministrations of a particularly cruel headmaster. The headmaster beat the orphans mecilessly, even to the point of torture, and may have been responsible for the deaths of one or more. This was the story told in the orphanage's later years, at least; and they told about the night in 1944 when the children rose up in revolt against the sadistic headmaster and lynched him from a thick pipe in the basement.

After that, the dead headmaster would be seen standing over children's beds at night, or following them down the dim halls. Class photos taken of the orphans sometimes developed with his shadowy figure standing behind one child or another, seeming to menace him.

Sounds pretty Slendy to me. Kinda reminds me of this picture:

Perhaps Slendy is actually this headmaster, and after the school has burnt down - he is now going after some of the former "residents" aka Evan and Damsel. This is of course assuming that the Evan/HABIT is the Evan/EMH, and a similar assumption for Damsel.

No, we really don't have a cannon example of SM distortion on things other then video cameras.

Not in canon in EMH, but there have been other games where he's been shown to distort cameras, especially digital cameras. I'm thinking of TT for instance. Whether or not EMH is considering it possible is another matter, but the idea is out there.

Maybe Slendy's just a huge Animal Collective fan too.

@ Distilled
I actually think this was mentioned a while back, i think when the papers first came out. I don't recall any further talk about it though, purely because it's kind-of hard to prove. If the guys actually use this i'm sure it would be something they find on their own.

Honestly, I think it would be a cool twist. I like the idea of having this thing we all fear so much turn out to have originated from a simple human.

I'm inclined to think that "those noises" refer to the Rake. He seemed to have been able to hear Ryan, which makes me think it wasn't distorted.
And part of me thinks the stuff from Upper Body was real because it seems to have the most obvious fake Slendy (window) and real Slendy (shadow). But the lights part does seem pretty fake.

Also, I had a really weird dream last night where Jeff explained that he and the guys that they were freaked out because they were finding Corenthal related letters everywhere. Like little letters to him, from him, and about him.
EMH is really invading my life.[/i]

I actually think he heard Slendersounds. Reasons:

1. As far as we know, Vince has never heard the Rake growling. The one time he's encountered it, it was silent. (I'm not assuming he's watched any of Alex's videos, or the video entitled "Alex;" these guys don't seem especially good at keeping up with one another's internet lives.)

2. Saying "those noises" in the very flat, emotionless way he did makes me think he's not talking about the sound of a car crash. Additionally, the way he says it sounds like he expects the others to know what he means.

What I'm curious about is what Ryan was saying before the crash. Vince said "slow down when you're--"; he could have been referring to Ryan's speech, or how fast he was going in the car, if he heard the car suddenly accelerate.

Watch the "cops checked" video again and listen closely. When the Rake appears it's making the same sounds from Alex's video where Sparky is scratching at the closet.

I don't think it said anything substantial in "Alex". I think it sounded more like a territorial growl, but that's just me lol.

You could be totally right though, maybe we're reading into it too much and just "want" him to have said something. >.>
