[DESPERATE PLEA] Desperate Plea to All Who Get Live Calls

(ah-eh-hem) Couldn't find anything like this anywhere else, and it was running through my head while I was doing laundry so I'd like to post it.

Being that you are the Grand High Crew of the Most Distinguished Apocalypso, The Ship That Cherry Is Not On, Which Makes Her Sad Because She Wants to be Counselor Cherry, when you get a live call from Melissa, PLEASE establish a few things, if only for me. (Other people's accounts show that she generally railroads through all attempts to take over the coversation; make sure she knows that this is absolutely top secret and import and relates to the Covenant, the enemy of mankind.)

1. The Sleeping Princess wrote a story before you found her. Do you remember that story? It was about a lost girl named Perdita, who could not find her family. The evil Clockwork Rat offered her help, but double-crossed her when she found herself turning into a monster, a monster which could not bear to look at her own reflection.

2. We have reason to believe that this is a parallel to your story.

3. There is a second rogue process on your system. His name is the Pious Flea. We have reason to believe he is a trojan sent by the Covenant. He destroyed your repair program, the SPDR, and is now posing as the SPDR. Repeat: the SPDR is not the SPDR, the SPDR is the Flea, and his motivations are suspect. Already your mantra of "seek, evade, resist, escape," is being subconsciously replaced with the Flea's mantra of "seek the truth, behold the truth, reveal the truth, that is the law and the whole of the law." Whenever you find yourself saying that, it is him speaking through you. We do not know what he means by that. Beware.

4. The Clockwork Rat in Perdita's story is a metaphor for the Pious Flea. [CHERRY: This part is a huge leap of logic but it's necessary for her to react strongly enough to get reading of that stinking Flea.] THE SPDR, WHO IS ACTUALLY THE FLEA, IS TAKING YOU OVER FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE COVENANT. [CHERRY: If you can get across ANYTHING to Melissa, make it this.] Do not let him. Kill him if you have to. He is a dumb process and worth nothing to you.

5. The Sleeping Princess, while an enemy to you, was only worried about the Flea's effects on you. I recognize that you resent her escape from the glass coffin, but please spare her. She was only trying to help you in your mission. [CHERRY: If you can get across only TWO things to Melissa, make this the second one.]

That is all. Good luck!

You bring up some excellent points, although I thought I read them before. Very well put.

On the other hand, don't you think Mel might be "upset" that we're comparing her to the monster Perdita? Razz

Cherry, you and I are of similar mind, and I've heard a lot of similar thoughts expressed in IRC, and PMs, and e-mails ...

It's true, though, that whatever Melissa wants, Melissa gets. I'm personally gonna try for as much information as possible, but I am also not going to risk having her hang up on me because I am pushing her too hard and she's believes me to be a spy.

Then again, there's been no guarantee that she is going to talk to us personally on the numbers we provided her. It could just be that we get a slightly different question/answer, and recorded message!

Having said all that, you've got some great ideas there, and I am really curious to see how this all turns out. Really curious. Smile

Actually, krystyn, I don't think you'll get a question/answer. That was just for proof-of-crew-membership, and you've already passed that test. Smile

I'm not sure people want to risk flubbing their live call by making a speech about something that might not even be relevant......Maybe I'm just stupid though Embarassed

Cherry, a lot of folks have been pondering those questions... but I think you're the first to put them together. Good work.

To the crew, there's two pages on the Perdita Story over on our Fireflies Wiki you might want to review:

[SPEC] on the story's meaning.
Our discussion on where this may point the story in the future.

It's possible that the Princess saw the possibility of this happening and set up the Perdita story as a prescription. I'll leave it up to you guys to decide whether or not getting Melissa to reflect on what's happened is a positive step.

-- Steve thinks that it may be the only way to save Dana from the Queen.

I know that taking over the conversation means risking a hangup, but the magical words "Covenant Rogue Process" will definitely perk her ears up.

If we can blow the Sleeping Princess's cover (ouch), then we can blow the Pious Flea's too.

At the very least, we owe it to the Princess.
