Yeah, I think you guys are right. I think I'm more bothered by 'swag hogs' than 'swag sellers'. I guess I kinda put the two together because you often see when people are selling swag, they have multiples available.

I just see a bunch of people here coming together and playing hard and trying to get a reward or two along the way. It's obvious they appreciate what they get, but most of them don't get a chance to get all of them.
Then you get a few swag hogs with multiple accounts, who eat up tons of rewards that could have distributed over many players. I guess I just feel bad for those who end up getting burned by 'em in the long run.

It's tough - if you want to allow your fans to trade swag, you can't really stop the selling of swag. But if you're good with limited trading, one possible action would be to customize all the swag/rewards to those who earn them.
Example: the customized Encom badges. You don't see those up for sale - Guest badges, sure, but who'd want a badge with someone else's name and face on it? Of course someone out there might, it could still be traded or sold, but at least then the idea that those who play and earn are rewarded and can keep is far more feasible.

But in the case of Tron, I don't see that ever happening... the trading of swag is a huge factor in the Tron community (ARG players and general collectors). It sucks, but it's the nature of this swaggy beast's execution. Confused

I realize that we can do whatever we want with our posters, but I'd like to think that 42 Entertainment would de-register any player from the game who consistently and immediately puts their prize up on Ebay.
That way the next time they have a limited amount of something, it would have a better chance at falling into the hands of somebody who would actually appreciate it.

The sellers posted the number of the poster, 42 Entertainment knows *exactly* who that is.

Who is consistently and immediately putting up their loot on eBay? It looks to me like just random people who completed the challenge, without knowledge they would receive anything and were lucky enough to get an Arcade poster. It is their poster, so they should be able to do whatever they want with it, including putting it up on eBay. While I don't like what they are doing, they are free to do it.

What about those folks with multiple accounts or have their girlfriend, brother, sister, mom, dad, neighbor, and coworker finish a challenge to get extra swag? I bet we have members of this group that do that.

Unfortunately, there is no way for 42 Entertainment to monitor the above activity and it is not their job.

You're right.
Again, I just feel bad for those who just miss out on things because of others who either hoard it or get it in order to just turn around and sell it.
You know, like the poor guy who finished the puzzle 1005th...

I kind of fall in the middle on the SWAG eBay question. I NEVER sell my SWAG that I get playing ARG's or following various viral marketing campaigns. However, my view is that if you went to the trouble to get something, it is yours to do with what you will. When I was following the Gears of War Two "Last Day" viral campaign, I was lucky enough to find a COG & Dog Tag here in Boston. At the time, they were selling for $300+ on eBay. I have to admit, it was very hard to resist putting mine up for sale. In then end though, I felt the story that I could tell was worth far more than the money. That said, it does drive me a bit crazy to see the insane prices some people get for this stuff. It's FREE (minus time spent) for the most part. In the end, I believe that Karma is a bitch and that what comes around goes around.

As noted on the first page of this thread, yes.

When we find these things on eBay, they should be added to the list with the alias 'Swag Scalper', because that's what they are. Sure, its someone's right to earn ONE poster. Its getting a little iffy when they get a friend or relative who doesn't care to get them another - but how many just use different emails and sign up more times on FL and complete the puzzles multiple times? Does 42 Entertainment check for that?

The issue I think we have as a community is when people try to get something with a limited share available, and someone is just getting it to scalp (or worse, multiples) they are cheating a genuine 'player' from getting what they deserve. There's been virtually no limit on several swag items, so selling those - who cares? Busting your butt to try to complete a puzzle with limited rewards so you can beat some scalper, so you don't have to pay for what you should have been able to earn free? That's whats not right.

I figured my chances of getting a poster early on were slim or bleak, but I guess enough of the world has to work a real job that they couldn't be right there on the computer when the puzzle came to light. Getting lucky and not missing out is cool, missing out to another player I can live with, but to a scalper - that'd tick me off.

the problem is limiting households when there are two true husband wife fans, or a couple with kids, for instance.

I share your frustration, but calling someone that sells their poster (that they more than likely worked hard for) a 'Swag Scalper' is a bit harsh, don't you think?

I'd like to think the overwhelming number of people who finished Challenging Stage V.2 in the first few days were actual die hard fans of the ARG ( I was up until 3am trying to finish it!) and the people that finished later were "casual" players and their friends, siblings, parents, neighbors and co-workers.

When completing Challenging Stage V.2, no one knew a limited edition Arcade Aid poster was potential loot. The challenge was released on Oct 22nd. 22 days later, on Nov 13th, JDAZZLE announced on UF that s/he received a limited edition Arcade Aid poster. So, anyone with the intention of obtaining this limited edition poster to scalp would have known about it 22 days after the game was released, which was way too late to complete that challenge and receive one. Of course, that wouldn't have prevented scalpers with access to a time machine. Man, I hate scalpers with time machines.

Exactly.
My Prince & I are both Tron fans.
We have both been promoting Tron Legacy for absolutely ages.
We have both also been enjoying the ARG.
We are both over the moon when we are lucky enough to receive something (I got my pins today! Thanks Zack Very Happy ).
We would be disappointed if it was limited.
Ultimately it is up to 42E as to how they run things, but we appreciate having our own swag to wear & enjoy.
Plus, if someone is trying to get extra swag through asking friends & family to help, then limiting it to one per household wouldn't make any difference.

re UK posters - haven't heard of anyone getting them here yet. I'm in deepest darkest Dorset (south west england) and have received the pins, but no poster as of yet.

Even if i did complete it on time, I figure it might be a bit too large for 42E to send post wise to the UK and Europe.

Actually, has anyone outside the US/Canada received a poster to our knowledge?

I don't know how big a fan I could say my wife is, but she has been pretty jazzed by the whole thing, and has been with me on the game the whole time. About three days after arcadeaid 2 came out, she completed the game. Unfortunately, while I received pins, she still hasn't (she completed it before we knew they were sent out). She's a little dissapointed, but I didn't know if they thought we were cheating since we share an address or what. It's not that big of a deal, but as you say, she likes to have her own set.

I thought, on the front page of this thread it showed multiple UK poster recipients but when I looked again it was Canadian people. There is one UK person at number 17 though, so that's good news for you Smile
Good luck to you for a poster!

I haven't seen any word of Aussies getting any yet, but I live in hope, lol Very Happy

Tell her not to despair! I finished Arcade Aid v2 before my Prince but he received his pins more than a week before I did.
When I checked the postal details it showed they were posted on the same day!
Mrs. Brooklynite may still receive her nifty pin set Very Happy

What I mean is that the pins still haven't come and it has been a few weeks, so I think we're going to give up on them at this point ::shrugs:: It's okay, these things happen. Thanks for the support tho.
