It's a simple continuity error I'd imagine. Still, it'll throw people for a loop when they realize Alex has been talking as if their (Jeff and Alex) parents are alive and well.

Edit: I see I'm late to the party.
If the story calls for the parents to be dead...why? Like, what's the point? How do the dead parents relate to the story?

Why even correct the "error"?

Also love how half the people started saying how it's ok if people facebook them while the other half are obsessing over the Parents detail.

I'm 90% sure they're alive OOG, there, discrepancies dealt with.

 		You'd be surprised what two brothers will do for each other when forced to take care of each other. Especially if they're living off of the life insurance money from their parents. So it plays to their state of mind and some of their actions. Also explains how they chained up Alex's room without having any parental issues.

Because it makes so much more sense for Alex to pretend his dead parents are alive? They could have easily gone with "They're drunks" which was the established theory anyway. Why raise all these extra questions?

That makes me think that they're building up to something else with "dead parents." I don't think they were only correcting continuity errors, (because they were obviously trying to correct some) because yeah, they're really not that dumb OOG and they could've said anything else that wouldn't have been so roundabout.

So I think it'll come up in the future. /2 cents

Also, omg they mentioned me in the first 10 minutes! Jeff agreed with me!
