Jeff told her that night that he loved her, and, well, she loved him too. Just not the way he wanted her to. So after everyone had gone to sleep, she opened her window and began the process of fitting her life into her black-and-pink plaid backpack. She wouldn't need much, not where they were going, but she labored for the entirety of the three hours she had to prepare over such stupid things as which shoes were most suitable for walking long distances in inclement weather and whether she should take her journal or destroy it.

At 3am, a soft rasping of nails on wood made her zip her bag closed and turn, smiling, to face the gentleman at her window. He waited for her to wave him in before he stepped delicately over the sill and adjusted his height to fit the room. Jessa paused to listen for any disturbances in the other bedrooms, then threw her arms around him.

Jeff would never understand how it was with them. Nobody would, she reminded herself with more than a hint of bitterness. But then she looked up at the gentleman's pale, blank face, and her resolve returned in full. She had to do this.

Maybe she could explain things to Jeff someday, after things calmed down. It broke her heart to hurt him this way, but leaving a note now would only make things worse. Jessa slung her backpack over one shoulder and looked back at the gentleman, torn. He tilted his head, shrugged, and slithered back over the windowsill without a sound. Jessa stumbled out with the help of an inky tentacle helpfully supplied by the gentleman and landed on the ground with a soft thud. The tentacle closed the window behind her.

i will make it better later, probably. it's not sad enough yet. >.<

No.

Never.

We just don't participate in the tournament and we lose the chance of being flown to Jersey first class to be a part of the Grand Finale.

To keep up the pretense that eliminated rabbits are dead, you mean? I think it's unlikely - we don't know how long the tournament will go on for, so I think it would be unreasonable to expect us not to post here for any extended length of time.

i was going to add stuff about jessa going with slendy means she'd have to go crazy, since we all know being around eldritch horrors isn't too good for the ol' human brain, but i couldn't think of how to work it in without it seeming tacked-on. ah well. mayhap i'll revise it for the lj fic community.
