[SPEC] Ronnie's relation to the officer

I searched and couldn't find anyone who commented on this, so I'll just post it and see what happens.

In the key_lime meeting, the one that was originally put in backwards, if you listen, the guys are talking about Ronnie, and one of them is apparently an ex-marine professor, (one who might just know how long cars float?) I don't know what this means, but I think it will become more significant if the people around the country can get the rest of the recipe3 wavs online.

listen to the full version of the pie here.

We've actually gone further than that connection. The way I see it, the two people in the key_lime/candidate wavs are High Ranking Officer and Accent Man. Accent man is Ronnie's Professor and recruiter into ONI, given one of her cases was analysing the "Cranky Old Man" call, and that since High Ranking Officer is the cranky old man, this links them although perhaps unkowingly, however since the two in key_lime/candidate know each other and Ronnie was "the candidate" perhaps she is there to stir up a stink over the troy incident.

We have Accent Man's name: Ronnie refers to him as "Professor Avi" in her first call to Sarah-John (from her apartment, as Corner Boy and his refugee bridge are fighting).

We still don't know Higher's name, but he's obviously of higher rank than Lieutenant Teetotal, who works for him.

The purpose of the Cranky Old Man call was to put an anomalous report of Troy's evacuation into the mix. Higher knows, somehow, that there was a partial evac of Troy but that the rest of planet (and its population) were deliberately allowed to die (to prevent the Covies from realizing we had broken their codes). He knew that ONI would have to follow up on the Cranky Old Man call, and hoped that someone else would discover the partial evac of Troy (by trying to find someone in Janet Adams' unit). Who knew that Ronnie -- whom Higher himself had a hand in recruiting -- would be the one to find it?

We can presume that Harmony was also attacked; it may have been glassed with no evacuation or with a full evacuation, but the fact that Higher draws a distinction between Troy and Harmony suggests that Harmony was not partially evacuated as Troy has been.

Higher doesn't know what was on Troy that was so damn important that it was evacuated, though, and he can't find out himself because someone else has decided to cut him off from high-level strategic planning. He's frustrated and is resorting to sneaky bureaucratic tactics to surreptitiously discover what's going on...

I suspect that Forerunner artifacts and research were evac'd from Troy to prevent their capture by the Covenant. While this is nice in the short run, it guarantees a ground invasion of Earth since the Covies want their artifacts...

What is Harmony? I'm guessing its a planet from the books, but if that is so, why is it "the key"?

Any thoughts?

It's mroe of a common knowledge thing, we all know harmony's a planet, but not from the books........ and Those are the wavs I don't really bother with because they annoy me for some reason. So I have no idea why it's the key.

From the latest .wav, Ronnie may be short lived..literally.

Herzoc: Yes, a security breach; that, major, is worrying isn't it? But it was just a supposition on my part.
Standish: But...but...
Herzoc: And some basic investigation a schoolgirl could do.
Standish: Who've you got working on this? One of your moles? Some low level parasite in someone else's department? Isn't that your standard operating procedure?
Herzoc: It's always useful to meet with you Standish.

Standish: At Chala Case, right? A schoolgirl, Herzoc?
Herzoc: (to himself) Avi, old friend, you're right. I am too old for this.
Standish: I'm good at plugging leaks, old man.

Chala Case should probably be Chala Base though.

That spec that put her as an AI, may not be far from the truth.

[SPEC] The COM (cranky old man) clips hello...goodbye were to put in a false trail about something that actually happened, so that Herzog could later test his candidate on just how good she is.

When Ronnie is able to see through the COM guise, determine it to be false, and further able to see that an evacuation did in fact take place, Herzog covertly recruits her deeper in to intelligence. Her current spy job is just a cover for the deeper work she does.

Circles within circles. Typically spook activity. [/SPEC]

Mazian, I agree with that. We know Herzog was the one that recruited Ronnie. Although her professor pointed her out as a candidate, he probably approved her recruitment, so why has she already been put on a case that involves Herzog? She doesn't know it...or perhaps...she wasn't supposed to catch him out...and her work on that case results in herzog get caught...hmmmm. I favour the deliberate idea better myself.
