Okay I guess I'm crazy, I can't get it on the others, but if you lay the pieces over top of each other (one inside the other), matching panel 01 and 10, on the 03 and 11 panels it definitely looks like a 3 and an 8. Freaked me out when it occured to me to hold it up to a light and I saw it.

IDK, I'm a bit panicky over this since I'm supposed to leave the house shortly. MAYBE there's something in this?

The URL is "flynnlives.com/gygax/". If memory serves, wasn't Gary Gygax the co-creator of D&D?

the idea of a clear die seems to work. with the symbols overlaid but with one on the underside of the other rather than simply on top. Again i cant do anything with it whilst at work.[/i][/sup]

Here's what happens in the folding, as a test, panels 08 and 01 line up with the same symbol when you fold them over (I labeled them A). But these seem to be the only repeating symbol.

On the "binary front... It Could be binary reading through the middle of each glyph (But it's not). It could be 8-bit binary reading clockwise around the perimeter of the outer ring. (But again, It's not.) Let's not have a repeat of the last puzzle by overthinking things.

Damn, I have to go. My last tip:
Someone should place the letters wherever their configuration fits. This way when we mount the dice, they should form a pattern and give us the answer. Give that some thought, I'm in a hurry, but I'm pretty sure the solution is in where to place each letter in a tridimensional object.

Here are links to the papercraft images.
The #12 half is on the right with the #2 half on the left.
The first single dot shown is the #9 from the #2 half on the left with the #6 from the #12 half on the right.

What if all it takes is to have enough people line up the shapes in the right pattern?

Going by the last few lines of this that is: http://www.flynnlives.com/images/forums/useruploads/book.jpg

How many digits is a hello flynn code again? This image gives us 12 numbers and 12 letters.....

Guys seriously, it's not about the letters. Each black shape has white binary code within.

It isn't binary. It looks like the numbers that identify the pieces to me, or at least incomplete versions of those numbers.

it is binary. same as what we used to discover the code on the front of flynns book. black is off "0" white is on "1"

Maybe I'm not looking at the same thing as you (I don't know where you're seeing this binary). The black and white shapes within the blue shapes aren't binary though.

A couple of things I want to throw out.

1. The centre piece of both point in either an up or down direction (not necessarily important...however...)
2. All the surrounding pieces point in the opposite direction.

Going with that I tried moving just the dots from where they are to the blank centre piece. Unfortunately, I'm at work and don't have time to determine if that shows anything (didn't notice anything, but I'm so busy I can't dive in right now.) Can anyone else take a look? I'll try to post an image in a bit of what I mean.

There we go

I've been following you guys from the get go, but unfortunately I can't work on it 'cause I'm stuck here at work. *Arrghh* So, frustrating.

If I think of anything I'll post it, sorry I can't help more...

How are you getting it's not binary? It's a series of on-offs with the same length of that on the Flynn Frontier book cover.

I defer to the very capable hands here. But is it a coincidence how much this looks like a 3 and 8? (Couldn't get a photo with it overlaid, maybe that isn't important anyway)

All right. I found out that when I turned one of the sides upside down, there were a lot of symbols placed in the same place, so I inverted the color and removed the white, and I wound up with this. Not sure if it tells us anything, but I'll try to do it without invertion in a minute.

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/958/invertedandpasted.png
so maybe we did something wrong since those 2 sides don't match up correctly. maybe once they all match up correctly then subtraction of dots will give us some sort of bit pattern to decode. probably over thinking things, but wanted to throw it out there.

Actually, I redid it, and they matched. Her is inverted, and non inverted:
