I'm going to bury mine later on in the week, so it doesn't have to sit in the ground too long. Plus that gives me more time to figure out how to get more than 30 seconds of video on my phone. :X

So you aren't keeping it IN the ground forever?

I am.... Because I'm terrified of being eliminated.

I'm keeping it in until I get eliminated/HABIT says I can take it out. Mostly because, if he wants us to video ourselves taking it out or something I don't want to re-dig a hole. XD

I had an amazing idea for how I could do this (I think HABIT would like it, even), but I'd need to get home this weekend to bury the appropriate item. That will be difficult.

Same here- I feel like it violates the spirit of the trial to dig it back up, anyway. HABIT wants me to get rid of it, out it goes.

Besides, the idea of someone unearthing my crazily scribbled-in copy of House of Leaves without knowing where it came from is almost more priceless that holding onto it.

Even the things that are dearest to us- we can't keep forever.

I've had trouble finding a wooded/field area. Plus one I can walk to from home , since my mom doesn't know about this.

All I know is what I'm burying, other than that I have no plans :/

I know full well I'll just feel weird and lost without the item I'm burying.

Still, some objects may be harder to part with than others. In a way, this trial seems really cleansing and deep, showing people that they can really get along without something that they cherish. Maybe a late Thanksgiving Lesson?

Edit: Or maybe Habbit just wants people to kill their emotions, and slowly lose their humanity...

I'm ahead of the game then. I never had any of those to begin with. Very Happy

Yep. I've seen this sort of challenge before actually, in the first chapters of occult books, that sort of thing. It's usually a test to prove that you are ready to step onto the path. Or step away from a previous path.

I had a book on druidism that I bought back in art school that had exactly this challenge in Chapter 1. Basically it said if you aren't willing to bury what is truly your most valued possession that you aren't ready to become a druid, and that you shouldn't continue to the next chapter until you can.

It's symbolic showing that your life has changed direction.

Yeah, that's basically what I meant when I said it was weirdly philosophic so just pretend I've been saying this from the beginning.

It's the Seven Trials of HABIT. Not the Seven Trials of Santa Claus. That's part of the reason I didn't sign up. It's supposed to fuck with people.

Seriously though, worst case scenario, film yourself burying the shit, turn the camera off, dig it back up. No one has to know IG.

So i just told my girlfriend that I was partaking in this, and her exact words are:

"If you're serious, you should be a lot more worried about the way I'LL kill you than how THEY'LL kill you."

...>>; Great now I have to worry about a crazy hospital patient AND a crazy girlfriend wanting to kill me.
