if everyone's taking off this coming wednesday, then i gotta figure the hunt WILL be this week. otherwise a bunch of people will have to call in sick 2 weeks in a row

Not necessarily. If the final phase is the screening, that will be at night. No need to miss work. (Unless you work nights, of course.)

but then why would the countdown end at 8AM PST? why not at a time when everybody is off work and can access a computer?

the zerohour countdown ended at 8AM PST and the scavenger hunt was held throughout the duration of that day, so i have a slight notion that this will be similar

I mean the screenings taking place the FOLLOWING week. Hence, no need to take off anything but next week.

ah! gotcha!!! good that works out just fine Smile

eeeeeee

Like with the haunted apiary, I came on just before the big finale - I'm sad I missed out on all the amazing fun beforehand, but I think I'm all caught up! Congratulations, TheBruce, you are awesome as ever!

By amazing coincidence, I have next week off to take care of my wife (getting lasik) and to play the next warcraft expansion , so I will be there if anything happens even remotely near Detroit!

Has it been established or discussed yet as to whether or not this is going to be a "First one to get there gets the prize" type deal like Zerohour, or more of an event to be attended like the Encom Conference?

Sorry if this has been established already.

That's a good point, I wasn't around for that but wasn't zero hour basically if you got there first you got the phone and continued and too bad for anyone else? SDCC10 seemed more like several people had a chance at each drop at least.

Taking off work and wandering San Fransisco is fine if I have a chance, but if only one person can find it, I don't think it will be this recent Jersey ex-pat.

This is how the BIT is solved - (Image)

In short...

Very bit-like: you pass each matched pattern pair through a NOT comparison (the "difference" effect) and it produces the letters.

/EPIPHANY was produced by anagramming various rotations of the letters until a match. (one P is upside down)

Euchre actually got the 'EPIPHANY' word Smile

So I get hung up at work LATE becasue of an Oracle issue and then I start reading and working the "dice" and figured out what was missing.... and was about to tell everyone that I figured it out..... but... being the wise man I am I decided to read ALL the 31+pages (so to eliminate the double posts) and of course it was figured out already....

FAST you all are!!!!
Was fun though Smile)

I think we can label this thread as [Solved] at this point. It may help any late comers that are just catching up.

So any of my boys in San Diego want to get together to tackle this? I think they'll do SD again, and I think we should meet up somewhere central san diego, maybe centrally close to some book stores and make it happen!

Awesome, I'll check in with Beef2Taco, maybe he'd want to join up, too. Of course assuming we're in on this city thing!

I'm in for a meet-up!
And the only bookstore I can think of in downtown is Borders on 6th avenue (right down the street from where Flynn's Arcade was!) I think there are a couple smaller ones, but I can't recall.

Can this poor soul join up in the meeting as well? Its been awhile since I last posted here. Would be so down if you guys do decide to meet up. Good job to everyone who solved this!

Good programmers don't make errors. They're "features". Wink

Hey guys.

My final review for my thesis project is on the 8th at 3:00. I am out here in San Francisco to finish up my animation and such and I am going to the graduate office tomorrow to see if I can reschedule just so I can go on this hunt assuming that is what they are having.

If I CANNOT go on this hunt and someone grabs me one of whatever they are giving out I will give you a set of "geometric answers"

I really want to go on this hunt, but I am really trying to reschedule my final presentation which will not be an easy task.

Someone help out if they can.

My guess for next week's event is they'll be doing something similar to the Gridlock Rendezvous/Screen Scene.

My guess is it'll be at a book store in your city(if on of the 16 cities) where Flynn might have toured through, and there will be a "shred" of evidence there. Maybe it's literally a shred of book that has an FL Event code on it, once entered reveals a larger picture a-la tron cards in Gridlock Rendezvous, or a sticker like the one posted on the FL message boards, like this:

EDIT: I realize the sticker in the image is photoshopped...

Well, I discovered this original image (LANGUAGE WARNING)

I believe the photographer is European and the image appears to be of a Slovenian town, but the keywords give me no leads.

This game is so complex, maybe we are SUPPOSED to be looking for "F___ THIS TOWN" stickers, or the ACTUAL location of the stock photo. Hahaha

2cents: The blocked info on the sticker probably isn't an achievement code. There wouldn't be enough for everybody trying to play. And they have never used mass applicable code before. I'd guess it's a phone number. And while I'd hope ANYBODY could call, it DOES sound like the phone 'operatives' are who they would be looking for. If they need "all" of us, these stickers may be HARD to find. It would take as many searchers as possible.

So how do we let everyone else know that we've found these stickers, or whatever else maybe what we are looking for next week when we find them? Do we just iPhone (or whichever phone you may obey) and get Onto the forum and post it or do we want to set up something with one anther before hand to spread the news?

Since, AFAIK, no one has volunteered to be the guy on the ground in NYC, I will do so... I need the exercise anyway...

The end game was almost identical to today's game. Acountdown led to a link game puzzle to another link to sign up for a free advance screening
