Just got a message from our good friend Shadowy McShadowface. "If I wanted to spill blood immediately, I would have." MP3 attatched. Trying to listen to it and play TF2 at the same time is difficult, however.

EDIT: Gave it a listen through, and... Couldn't pick up much. It's a guy and a girl talking to each other, the guy is apparently painting the girl's room? Girl mentioned something about a guy spilling a drink (Guessing that's @hollowasthewind), and also talked about being stalked by someone "with an interest in languages" writing her things. Is she LD, or just another victim of Mr. Shadowydude?

so I'm a little confused....who is nigel? is he L D? I thought his name started with D? this arg is beginning to give me a headache

Cyng, I think that info belongs in The Sound Guy thread located:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30903

Please take discussion of the audio files there.

Thank you for your support

I agree LordIllian. Looks like LD = Logan Darrington. Also mentioned in the Mp3 is that she got herself a cricket bat for protection which LD mentions in an earlier email. (Early clue to LD's gender may have been when LD says "my friends call me D" which now in retrospect sounds like Dee but looks very masculine just as "D".) And this discovery that LD is female also seems to fit in rather nicely with the last poem We Wear the Mask. Maybe LD is supposed to be a lesson in gender prejudice on the internet?

I respectfully disagree, Magesteff.

I am willing to agree the Sound Guy is not a part of this ARG, but I was not referring to those sound files, which were embedded in video with music...I was referring to the files that amessageSPLATgmx sent. The Sound Guy emails were from ptsmusicblog (at) gmail.com.

We really have no evidence that the messages from amessageSPLATgmx are connected to the Sound Guy at all other than the coincidence that they were also sent to the same players as those playing Hollow Men. Yes they both contain sound. But one is audio embedded in videos, the other is strictly audio files. Yes, Darrington said he had nothing to do with music files. That doesn't preclude any and all audio files without music. The ones sent by amessageSPLATgmx were not music files.

The messages from amessageSPLATgmx are very like the ones from L D. Nigel's tweets seem much more connected to this ARG than the Sound Guy: references to Poetry that specifically talks about unstable mental conditions in a dark time, shadowy figures, strange occurrences, etc.

While I'm willing to concede that it is likely two trailheads were sent to the same old school players at the same time, I think it is unlikely there were three.

So this is my suggestion:

We split the amessageSPLATgmx/nigel into a completely separate thread

or

we decide which trailhead it belongs to....My vote is clearly with Hollow Men

I'll even go further: If everyone agrees that amessageSPLATgmx/nigel belong to the Sound Guy, I will migrate all the information we have about that over to there.

For clarification, Nigel's twitter was discovered through a riddle sent from LD's account, so it is most definitely part of this ARG.

well then, if nigel's twitter account came from L D, then THAT is in game

...but it weakens the case for amessageSPLATgmx.com because I thought nigel's account came from that

hmmm, well I wont post in this thread anymore about ammessageSPATgmx.com clues until we get confirmation either way

ETA:

sent message to L D to get confirmation if she is Logan

I'm one of the people who belong to the "Poetry Club". I'm also interested in helping you root out who has been harrassing you. The strange occurrences that have been happening to you have been the subject of much discussion with my friends. I understand your last name to be Darrington -- however, would it be possible that your first name is Logan?

If it is, I am much concerned for you. One of our poetry lovers was just sent a recording from a "shadowy figure". The recording was of a woman named Logan who is also receiving mysterious messages in different languages talking to a friend in a book shop. It disturbs me greatly that this shadowy figure seems to be stalking "Logan" --whomever she may be. If this is not you, can you let me know, so I may find this woman and alert her to the creeper who stalks?

Also, you sent one of my friends an image of a note that contains the words Lie, Liar and, Murder...but we cannot make out the words the arrow points to. Can you give us a better resolution of the image? Or tell us what the words the arrow points to? We are eager to help.

Why are you putting quotes around Poetry Club? I asked about it and nobody seemed to really care about poetry, just about trying to help me. I wouldn't mind some normalacy, but it looks like that's gone out the window.

My name, however, is a different mattter. How do you know my name?

For that matter, how do you know I was out last night? Where did you get this thing, this recording? There wasn't anyone recording us. The place where we met is too public, therefore I believe you are telling a fib. There cannot possibly be a recording due to the fact that nobody else is good enough to get that close and not be caught.

As for that photo, I fixed that mess yesterday. I moved the book back to the shelf and tossed the rubbish. I want to say it pointed to murderer or murderess, but I wasn't really looking, I'm sorry. Today I just tossed the paper, but I remember it because the last lines were a bit... odd.

Put the saddle on the mare,
For the wet winds blow;
There's winter in the air,
And autumn all below.
For the red leaves are flying
And the red bracken dying

Ich jage Sie zu den Enden der Erde.

So... Cyng... you know my name... and you know things are happening to me... and I know nothing of you... except that you know people online...

How do I know you're not the person doing this?

... Because if you are... believe me... what I will do to you will make you wish you had remained hidden.

Now that we have confirmation regarding Logan = Darrington, I want to link to what I think the Dean Koontz reference might be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whispers

I've replied to L D in reference to knowing her name, but I didn't out our friend Nigel. Why spoil their romance just yet.

ETA: dying was underlined and the german was in bold

That is funny cause I got the recording last night as well and my first thought was, "Huh? D is a girl?" Guess it was a bad assumption on our part. Embarassed

Been emailing a bit more with D but nothing of terrible interest yet.

Here's an interesting little factoid about the name "Logan"

The boy's name Logan \l(o)-
gan\, also used as girl's name Logan, is pronounced LOH-gan. It is of Gaelic origin, and the meaning of Logan is "hollow".

Wow. What I found for Nigel isn't nearly as interesting: champion or black, English origin.

Ok thanks Cyng. It's just too many sources of info and I am having trouble tracking where each bit came from. If Nigel was referenced by LD,then yeah, it should be here. . I am just trying to not make this harder than it has to be. If there are two/three new games and we are putting them all in one place it is going to be difficult for me to keep it straight in my own head.

Thanks again.

I wouldn't rule out either definition RAD. Names appear to have been carefully chosen. I looked up Hemingway and yes, great writer but also apparently a very bad poet...which gives new meaning to Nigel saying in the info portion of his twitter account that he prefers Eliot Smile

A few emails back D mentioned to me that she "loathes games and those who play them" and "loathe" was italicized. Didn't think much of it at the time but stored it away for future use. In her latest email she said it again, "I can't stress how much I loathe games and those that play them." I don't know if this is just the PM forgetting who they said what to...or if it's a hint to something.

The Poem is "A Hunting Morning " by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
