Yeah I'm not saying I think Alex is HABIT because I think it's pretty obvious that Evan is primarily HABIT. I'm just saying there's something weird about Alex/his youtube channel and I think the background changes are trying to tell us that. When things change, especially in such a drastic way as a normal background for a young kid being replaced by a picture of a dead rabbit, that is just screaming "HI IM SIGNIFICANT PAY ATTENTION TO ME."

But EMH has posted things about the Rake... videos OF the Rake. Why has their background never changed?

HABIT seems more like a defense mechanism to me, honestly. The rage, the need to hurt others, etc. If Evan had previous dealings with The Slender Man, The Rake, or someone like the priest from the Vincent papers it could cause enough trauma to form a personality like HABIT. Given Evan's recent dealings with our supernatural villains, it'd be enough to kick the HABIT persona into overdrive.

On that note, anyone else notice how Evan's personality has been changing since episode six or so? He's becoming more aggressive (attacking Slender Man on sight, carrying a hunting knife everywhere), he's less phased by things that should terrify him (Volunteering to check the closet where The Rake is said to be located), and in general seems to be changing. Combined with HABIT being more active it could be that the HABIT persona is taking over, and Evan is becoming the secondary persona.

That's assuming that Evan is a time traveler or reincarnation, which I don't agree with. I think it's much more likely that the names are a coincidence, or that the Slender Man is influencing our heroes so that history repeats itself.

Isn't Evan also extremely protective of the crew? Wanting to kill Slender Man, waking Jeff up to tell him about Alex, defending Damsel, so on and so on....

What if Even is the Doctor reincarnated! bum bum bum! and Damsel is the reincarnation of Habit! BUM BUM BUM!

Of course I'm only grasping at straws, and am being completely unhelpful in the end.

As far as things go story wise, really they could get away with making any one of them habit, and ignoring the theories and predictions. For all we know, Habit is its own person, and not a personality/ghost/hidden alter ego...

So after reading the posts in here about Alex's favorites, I checked out a couple and the lyrics to the NIN song stood out to me a lot.

That song reminds me of Evan or at least of someone being inHABITed.
