I'm aiming for optimism about this whole situation. The hidden videos have been a big problem, and I think we might get some serious advancement if they can just see the damn things.

Since I haven't heard back from the other poster involved I think I may try to engage HABIT in Gchat myself. If the boys are about to watch these videos, then they're going to see the Evan incident in the kitchen and that's likely going to ruffle their feathers pretty bad.

The boys can't see that incident because HABIT and/or SM don't want them to remember it. They don't want them to know about HABIT/Evan being connected. If they do find that out in the next day or so, they're going to need any answers on HABIT they can get. Now would be a good time to discover if HABIT responds personally to any mention of himself as an "Evan," or has any personal connection or memory of Mrs. Corenthal, etc. If he thinks of himself as alive, or as the same boy, or if he's in our Evan, how long he has been there. How long THEY have been "together."

Well even if something like that does happen, it's obviously for a reason in the plotline. I mean they wouldn't just suddenly mention sitting down with someone to watch it and then just "OH NVM IT DIDN'T WORK" I think. That'd be pretty silly. Regardless, even if they can't see them, they're becoming increasingly more aware of the fact that we're not lying about the hidden videos.

qaqa, I Tweeted @SevenTrials asking if the Corenthals were good foster parents. No response that I know of as of yet, I might try a PM next.

Good looking out, Demongel. I can barely get my contacts/chat list working right on Gmail.

The transcript of our brief chat on g-mail:

Quote:

me: hey, Jeff, if you're still online, one final thing... this is going to sound crazy, but be careful when you're talking to Evan about this. Some of the hidden stuff has him acting kinda... disturbing.

EMH: Alrighty, thanks for the heads up
Byes <3

me: <3
good luck

I really don't think this is HABIT. I really HOPE this isn't HABIT. I don't know, Jeff's replies and everything felt legit to me. Here's hoping this gets somewhere... ::crosses fingers::

I mean it could be another way of saying "Enough about the damn vids, we can't see them, end of story." But, if Jeff's other idea is anything important you're right.

I don't think it's HABIT. I think we noticed the right loophole. This is part of why I'm always obsessing around the edges of this stuff. Anyways, BRANCHING STORYLINE!!11

I should be making my deadline on my column, instead I'm waiting breathlessly for this.

The question is, is there actually an interactive way in which to help Evan and confound HABIT even a little. I imagine the narrative is set so that Evan (and others) are inevitably doomed, but if there is a degree of ability to affect the outcome then how do we next go about that. The first part is identifying exactly what and how HABIT is, a topic I have thrashed to death. The second, I think, is not setting him against the other two guys. I don't want him to end up out in the shed like Wilford Brimley in The Thing, going "Watch Clark, do you hear we?"

Actually, I have a theory about that. We've already established that water has some sort of significance to all this, we just don't know what. And add in Habit's odd response to a rabbit regarding "dumping something in a river".

Maybe Habit has some issue with water.

Maybe that's what's going on with the underwater shots. Maybe the boys are trying to expunge Habit?

Yeah... the second problem is why I dashed off that warning to Jeff. I didn't want him to go skipping up to Evan with some ingenious plan, only to have HABIT take over and go on a stabbing spree when "Ryan & STOH" starts playing the bonus footage.

I think we're gonna need more info on Corenthal and F!Evan before we'll figure out who or what HABIT is.

This development is really interesting - still I wonder what exactly will happen when someone tries to show them what's going on - it'd be cool if they could finally see them, but my guess is that either something else will happen ("new" hidden videos, or deleted entries like mentioned before), or someone will have the HABBIT of intervening and stopping the event from going through, possibly leading to a slendy mind wipe. Maybe even whoever tries to "help" them meets an unfortunate end - he didn't seem to respond to the specific idea of having GreenFeathers do it, maybe it'll be a redshirt instead?

I think we'll know very shortly if this path is worthwhile, my guess is that at least something more relevant than - "I can't see this", will happen. I'm kind of scared that it would drive the boys apart to see the videos, when maybe what they need to do is stay together?

Well shit. I'm gone a few hours to complete the trial (and my photo assignment) and crazy shit goes down.
I got a reply from my email to Jeff as well, he doesn't know if he recorded the footage from Mrs. Corenthal's house.

I know I had my Flip on me around that time. Remember, I posted that on-the-go update (lacking any action-movie-me-jumping-away-from-an-explosion). If I did record it... I'm not sure. It may be entombed on the legendary EMH external hard drive we bought last year for the fitness series, haha. -Jeff

Thing is, I think HABIT has bitched about Corenthal before - I can't remember exactly where or when.

If we can gauge his response to things like

*Being addressed as "Evan" - since we know he hates Evan
*Seeing the toy soldier
*Being asked about his mother's nickname for him, or about "his" (Fairmount Evan's?) time living with the Corenthals

we can maybe get a baseline sense of what we're dealing with.

Because assuming that's HABIT talking through Evan in "Ryan...", then either a) HABIT/OldEvan's ghost is possessing our Evan, or b) HABIT/OldEvan=Our Evan and is simply the same MPD kid from the '70s. Which means all three boys are the same as the past incarnations.

If he responds to mention of the soldier or the family setup in a way which indicates he was there, then we at least know HABIT probably thinks of him/itself as that same boy who grew up there. We can maybe get some sense of whether his attachment to this Evan is a recent development. i.e., "how can you hate Evan when the Dr.'s letters say you ARE him? ...Oh, I see, it's like that." An alter should react violently.

I think they need to see the videos, but I also agree that they should stick together and not draw lines and factions. This revelation really endangers Evan and could send him totally off the spool. HABIT doesn't want them to know what happened. But if there's a way to manage their reactions and get them in a position to help Evan rather than turn on him...I don't know.
