A note on the letter:

"prod Jeffery and Vincent into practical jokes and obvious conversational traps". The first part is in keeping with what we learned way back in ..., where Vinny says that they're kings of practical jokes, but is the second part perhaps a sly reference to the Jonsclub emails?

Maybe not a reference, but an explanation... A Fridge Brilliance for their behavior, if you will. Well, yeah, probably a joke, too.

P.S. The EMH News thread is EXTREMELY helpful. Like, all caps extremely.

whenever I hear -Corenthal at the end of letters it makes me think of bible passages and reading the letter where it's written 9. 11 or 9 II it might be far fetched but it could be a passage reference to find or something.

like paragraph 9, line 11 or 2 if it's II.

But I don't read the bible XD; so I'm at a loss for actually searching, or it could be a passage from the House of Leaves..

It was discussed as one of the potential continuity errors when the "OUR PARENTS ARE DEEEEAAAAAAD" bomb was dropped.
Current consensus is it's weird and we'll probably know more about it later in the game.

I was randomly watching videos when i noticed something, in the video "Joke's Over", when Vince is talking about Jeff, he said "after talking to his brother, we found out that he called his parents and his family..." i thought they said that their parents were dead...??? and that Alex was the one who did that...?

also restating plea of help, someone like to summarize recent events for me please and thank you?

It's just a Plot Hole.

Every good series has one.

To me, those lines in the letter look like they could be the sides of a 0 that didn't come out right. You can see the hint of a curve inward at the top and bottom of each line. Then it would just be 9.06pm.

So, do we try to use some nail polish remover or something to see if there's anything under the marker? Or just let it go?

Other continuity errors I can think of would be the various times we've heard older voices in their house and Alex's first video where he takes a good long time to explain how his parents are grounding him because of his brother's actions.

My personal theory is he's not pretending his parents are actually alive, he's pretending that whoever they live with is their parents, and even then just for the benefit of other people. It's quicker to say "My parents have grounded me" to people on the internet than "My grand parents who take care of me and my brother since our real parents died a few years ago have grounded me."

Gosh, I don't visit the forum for a couple of days and it exploded into pages. Well, I think I'm cought up now anyway.

So ya, I think the whole thing with Jeff's and Alex's parents was just a plothole, it happens, especially in complicated storylines such as EMH.

Also, I went to go bury my cherished belonging and my camera broke like right before I left. Unless I can fix it tomorrow, I'm going to cry for the rest of my life and by "life", I mean the next couple of days before the rake kicks my ass . And it was going so well too, I even have a paved nature trail right in my own backyard. Crying or Very sad

Still looking up ways to do it. I've heard so many things from nail polish remover, to milk, to bleach. And apparently it depends on what was used to make the mark. I would like to try and remove it but I feel more research is in order.

can you borrow one? or do you have a phone that takes photos/video? habit said a before/during/after series of photos would work as well. and if you can't get them off your phone and onto a computer and you have a webcam, you can record yourself showing the photos/video.

I messed around a bit in GIMP with that marked out bit of the letter. I got some shapes in there when I sharpened it that are more solid than the rest, but I can't make out letters. I'm probably doing it wrong.

Hey, guys, Rhiannon and I got a rough timeline together. Feel free to add to it!

ALSO: realization. Evan reminds me of Dexter. Not from the television show so much, but from the books. HABIT!Evan sounds a lot like him.

Quote:
1969/1970: Vincent meets Reverend Green; molested by the priest for a year before "the Man" kills Green.

1970 (?): Evan/Habit admitted to Fairmount.

May 11, 1971: Doctor Corenthal writes a letter rejecting a request to have Vincent placed at Fairmount, citing difficulties of dealing with two children from "the town of ash."

November 17, 1971: Corenthal writes a letter detailing the behavior of his patient, Evan/Habit, and requests that he not be released from the hospital.

December 26, 1976: Corenthal writes a journal entry (?) discussing the adoption of Evan, Jeffrey, Vincent, and [redacted], using his wife Maryann's fortune, and reflecting on the happy Christmas they shared.

October 27, 1981: Corenthal writes another journal entry (?), this time mourning the loss of four of his children. Linnie alone remains, and is not well; he says he will take her east, away from Ohio. Refers to Jeffrey's writing talents, as well as Vinnie and [redacted] being much more visual and artistic

November 22, 1990: Evan born

June 1991: Vince born

August 1991: Jeff born

1991 or 1992: (assumed) Jessa born, possibly Damsel

1994: Alex born

Hey, that's when I was born!

Nice timeline, guys. It helps put everything from the letters in perspective. I really wonder what happened between 1971 and 1976 that made Corenthal change his mind about the kids.
