I have to agree with LK and everyone who's said she probably isn't an MH follower. She specifically recognises Jay's surname, and we only ever know Jay through his first name and his screen name (J). If she was a follower of Marble Hornets, she would recognise Jay himself, not his surname.

Since Jay doesn't seem to recognise her name back it does seem a bit more likely that Jessica's recognising his name from something else. I still think it'd be pretty neat if it turns out they're both suffering memory loss and ended up finding out that they worked together, though.

Also: Anyone else notice how Jay's hand actually trembles when he holds up the pill bottle and the single pill? It might not have been intentional on the crews' part, but damn that's some good acting and reaction details there. Jay is seriously freaked out by all this and they are showing it.

Nope, they're still in Alabama, as the sign he passes in Entry 27 illustrates.

I noticed this too, read all the posts to see if someone else noticed it.

What i thought is that he has been on some kind of drug these past 7 months (maybe the same pills that Masky takes?), so thats why he doesn't remember anything at all and is trembling, from the abstinence.
Maybe he's having headaches because of the abstinence too.
Thats why he's taking now the ibuprofen (the painkillers)

Sorry about any mistakes, english isn't my mother-language. Confused

Yeah, I noticed this also. Maybe he started to remember something? I mean sometimes I find something in my room and I remember having it but can't put a finger on where it came from.

new member.

Also chiming in with approval of a new female character. First impressions she gave me was that she could go either way, antagonist or benevolent aid to Jay. I hope the MH crew did not just introduce her merely as a plot device and that she becomes a memorable character herself. Personally I'd love it if she went the ambiguous, anti-hero route.

Shows what I know. I was under the impression Jay just had noisy coils in his bed in entry 24, distorted by whatever is distorting the cam/mic. Though on seven-thousandth listen, they do sound a bit like coughs.

These ones sound a bit different though, and whoever it was who said they sound like metal furniture being moved, I'd have to agree.

This hotel really should invest in some sound dampening.

In addition to the scrapping and banging sounds in the night scene, there are also clicking sounds.

It is quiet, but if you boost the volume to 3 times normal it can be heard.

It has the following pattern.

1= tap
0=pause

10010000011110000000

The pattern plays 3 times in the 30 second scene.

It is probably nothing, but it seemed a bit unusual to me, thus I post it.

If the camera is using film, it may be the spinning tape creating a clicking sound. However, I did not hear this clicking sound in Entry 27. This may be due to their being more noise during those scenes though.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet but if you watch the scene where Jay is digging through his bag from the start there is a part in that scene where his chest camera moves backwards fairly far and then suddenly "teleports" back to view on the bag. There is NO gradual pull back to the bag; just a sharp snap.

The problem is telling editing from in-universe significant editing to in-universe insignificant editing. I can definitely see what you mean though.

Another problem is, of course, telling you're-not-supposed-to-know-what-this-sound-means-and-we're-not-positive-what-it-would-sound-like sounds and this-sound-is-THIS-and-we-did-it-up-properly sounds. I have to say that the creators don't seem to stray into the latter though (using something for the sound of something else), so it's probably what it sounds like.

Sorry if I'm in sort of a meta mood. I blame Moorcock, personally.

Valid valid point. It was worth a point out with how sly MarbleHornets can be. I was almost tempted to frame the crap outta that section of the video to see if anything significant was behind him but its almost certainly a case of:
It-probably-isn't-important-itus.

EDIT: Re watched 28 and nothing seems of great importance, apart from the ending. The thumping and this picture:

Notice the red light, maybe camera left on, not like Jay?

I've looked around the safe manufacturer site, and the closest I've been able to get to the safe displayed in the video is the B5.0. That one's not right, though. It has the correct details on the area around the numeric keypad, but the keypad isn't close enough to the top-left corner to be correct. There's a couple of laptop safes with the keypad in the right place, but the detail is wrong. Quite possibly this is an older model. My guess would be a predecessor of the M5.1 line.

However, I did find out an interesting thing about guest room safes. Apparently, there's two ways to override them in case you lost the code. The first is something called a EHO (electronic handheld override) wich is a gizmo that plugs into some sort of port just under the extruded ellipse. The second is a KEY. Apparently, the plate with the logo of the hotel/manufacturer can be slid aside to reveal a keyhole.

Now this is probably not the right answer, but, hey, Jay is in a room with a locked object that can be opened with a key. He has a key. Couldn't hurt to try. Smile

I think this has been attempted already, but I took a listen to the thumping noises at the end of the video again. I'm not sure if this is moving furniture exactly, the noises are too rapid and close together. it sounds more like someone hitting the wall with their open palm, and the other, softer noises, sound kinda like someone hitting wood with a piece of metal or a drum-stick. (Maybe Jess is rocking out at night? Razz)

Anyway, I tried the binary approach, but it came out to 10 digits, so no good. 1 represents the loud thumps, and 0 the sharp "taps."

Perhaps Jess is being slendy-stalked as well, and she sorta "Sleep walks" at night, just doing random things. Remember in entry 19, when Jay left for 3 hours in his sleep and didn't even remember it? I think the same things happening to Jess. But it's probably a more subtle, creepy slender-possession. (can anyone else picture Jess standing in front of the wall that connect her room to J's, just pressing her hand against it? Then, BAM... BAM BAM BAM... I dunno, seems like a creepy thing slendy would make you do. Confused )
