Shad0 is the only one I know of in the LA area, and he got it from a Burbank axon.

No crew members in OC though. Sad

I had been following the whole story and saw the few unactivated axons near UCLA. I had a day off and wanted to participate. If there are any more axons that show up in the same area I will get them... eventually.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy THANK YOU!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Some quick updates:

1) Yes, I got the 14:09 axon in Burbank. Happy, happy, joy, joy! I will eventually -- sooner rather than later, I hope, but maybe not until Sunday(!) -- get around to posting a full report to...umm...one of the nine threads discussing the axons spikes. Mr. Green

2) Yesterday I got the 18:49 in Burbank and the 19:11 in Glendale, confirming two things: first, that Melissa is definitely still making calls, even though all the axons were archived on Tuesday; second, that it is -- just barely -- physically possible to hit both of those axons. That's the main reason for this post, actually: I didn't want anyone running out to those phones tonight unnecessarily.

I don't know what happened to the Glendale Galleria axon on Tuesday, but it worked fine yesterday. It's the rightmost phone in the food court, and it does not ring out loud. I waited about 15 seconds, picked up, and heard a dial tone. I hung up immediately, but kept the phone receiver to my ear; tried again a few seconds later, and got the recording.

3) Hat Rock: THANK YOU!!! (I know I said it already. It bears repeating.)

Shad0 - yours is the first direct report of someone saying the phones for the locked clips were still ringing wednesday. The only other reports we had all turned out to be for clips that still needed axons. On the flip side, AtroPhied tracked axons changing from cancelled to success all day on recipe1, but oddly I don't think any were in California - have to check with him.

Shad0,

Glad to be able to contribute. Congrats on the contact with Melissa. I hope she doesn't give your number to telemarketers.

Laughing

An observation: The Glendale Galleria axon is set for 10:03 a.m. this time. I will not be able to be there, so someone else should feel free to hit it.

Another observation: There is another axon, in Seattle, set for the exact same time. I wonder if that could mean that one will be a recording, and one will be live? After all, we've successfully hit that Glendale axon every week so far...

Go team Los Angeles!

i personally dont think that the galleria will get a live call, simply because she'll be calling weephun at 10:08 leaving her only 5 min before weephun's call to make the galleria call, talk, record the persons name, rank, contact info, and prepare for the next call. Not an impossible task, but i just find it unlikely.

I'll be hitting up the 2 in Culver City and the one in Santa Monica (I've hit that one before, so i know it wont be a problem). man i hope she's still making live calls. Happy hunting Smile

You are assuming that the crew will be getting live calls from Melissa again. When I talked to her, she specifically said something about not being able to speak to me directly again. She might've said it was for security purposes. Also, when she asked me for another way to contact her -- which was before she said she wouldn't be speaking to me again -- I asked whether she needed a number where she could speak to a person, or just someplace where she could leave a recording, and she said it didn't matter. Thus, I believe that the crew will be getting recordings, not more live chat-time.

(Yeah, yeah, all this stuff will eventually be in my report...)

Hi, I haven't been able to do any axon hunting until now but may be able to during this week...

I searched the archives and found that the Beverly and Doheny one doesn't work, are any of the following broken or ones other people are planning on going to in the next week?

11:29 and 11:41- Culver City, W Washington and Jasmine, E of Motor
13:07- Santa Monica Axon, Ocean Park and Main
17:45- West Hollywood, Hollywood and Orange (W of Highland)

Thanks in advance, hope to see someone out hunting!

UCLA

I'm going to go to UCLA tomorrow to get both the 8:15 axon and (hopefully) the 8:17 axon.

I did a little scouting of the area yesterday on my way to Best Buy (which is just around the corner from UCLA). I believe I found the two payphones in question. The first one is as easy as pie to find, the second one proved a bit more difficult, so if anybody can correct or confirm this:

The second payphone is the one right behind the glass doors in one of the buildings (I believe it's the same building that holds the cafeteria). Correct?

Anyway, it's going to be difficult, considering I'm going to have to answer the first phone, and then I literally have about a minute to get inside my car, drive down a couple small blocks to the next payphone (because simply running won't be fast enough), park really quickly, then run to the payphone. It's going to be sort of ridiculous, but it IS possible.

Now is clicking off the phone while it's playing the wav file going to cancel the axon? Because I may have to do just that to save time. Of course I'm not sure if it even will play a wav file this time, I just want to make sure.

Although I'm most definitely up for the adventure, if anybody wants to come down to help me out, that would be fine too... Wink

Also, does anyone know exactly how crowded it will be? I've never been to UCLA on actual weekdays. On weekends the place is nearly empty.

The school year at UCLA doesn't start until the 30th, but people may be moving in this week, so I'm not sure how busy it will be.

UCLA axons

Saturday,

When I answered the phones before:
The axon coordiate with two phones, it was the one on the right.
The other axon is inside the cafeteria, all by its lonesome.
You will not be able to drive from one site to the next if they are 1 minute apart. There is no place to drive unless you have some permission from school or if you are just plain crazy. Students would be flying off your front hood, papers scattered everywhere, it would be chaos.
Of course the axons would be hot.... Rolling Eyes

I will think about waking up early to make it. Can't promise anything. I drive over from the valley to work in West LA. I couldn't even wake up for 8 am classes and now I am supposed to do it for some crazy AI who can't remember anything but wav files and fleas. You would think one part of her has programs for online blackjack.

Okay, well I'm pretty much all set then.

Are you sure about the driving thing? When I went there on Sunday, the gates were open and there was a sign saying that basically you would normally need a pass to get in, but the gate was open as a courtesy to their "summer guests" (if I remember correctly). So what I worked out is that I could park ten or twenty feet away from the first payphone, answer it, run back to my car, then there's a small road I could drive that turns a few corners but leads right up to the cafeteria building (though I would have to run another 30-40 feet to get to that phone).

I mean the whole ordeal is going to be a rush, and the chances that I'm going to be able to get to that second payphone in time are very slim. BUT.... I will give it my best shot! Very Happy

Shocked

UCLA

I was able to make it to the 8.15 site but by the time the phone call was done it was already 8.17. I can get it tomorrow. It was a conversation between Jan and her dad about ice cream.
