I was thinking about that guy who suggested his time isn't missing, or something, and I imagined this crackpot scenario where... well... The world of Marble Hornets functions on fate (specifically, I was thinking of Donnie Darko where Donnie could see the path he was going to take ahead of him) and Jay wasn't so much blacking out, as he was being transported to the future to the place he would have been at this point, but without the experience which would make him quite disoriented. I don't know exactly how that would tie in with the trips to the slendycave, but since I don't really think too much of this theory anyway...

Just thought I would throw that out there to make some other theories seem more sane by comparison. Though, with nothing new under the sun, I fully expect someone to have already theorized that here.

Allow me, for fun, to clarify with this boring chart.

A is sometime after his last tweet in late April, and C is sometime before when he sees the twitpics and changes his password. What if, he traveled, in time, directly from point A to C. And the universe, of course, doesn't like him suddenly missing from the timeline, so it creates a narrative that fills B but doesn't end up sharing it with the traveler. There are some problems with the narrative though, and people whom the traveler met are a little to a lot fuzzy on the details.

Like I said though, dumb theory that doesn't really fit with the tone.

That's exactly what happens on an episode of Futurama. Just saying.

Oh, the Globetrotter episode. Kind of like that, but instead of nobody knowing what is up, everybody else knows what happened during that time, except relating to travelers.

I miss TTA posts, too, but I think that there's probably a better reason for them not using it right now than that the creators were bored of making them. (If that's the case, then booooh, they were really fun to watch!) It seemed like TTA was using them to toy with Jay, and now that that part is done, he doesn't need the account anymore. It would probably have to be a matter of TTA toying with him again (and there's potential for that: "ha ha, you don't know the last seven-months worth of fun you partook in! Allow me to demonstrate with these teasers!") or else needing to get in contact with him for another reason (maybe pushing him around because he's lurking again?)

Whatever the case, it seems like they're going to be invested more in the story of the mysterious hotel neighbor just now. We'll have to wait to see!

Although I really enjoyed the TTA stuff I think it would be a bit boring to slip back into the Entry > TTA Response, Entry > TTA Response routine straight away. I hope they have some interesting ideas on how to bring TTA back into the game.

I like that they havent brough TTA or The Operator back straight away, they need to ramp up the tension and introduce them back in an interesting way, otherwise the story won't progress any further than "oh noes, Slendy again, just like last seaso.. I mean... last time - run awaaaaaay!"

All right guys, after seeing the new entries, my brain has been giving me the most weirdest of plot bunnies for MH-related fanfiction.

1. Slender Man with a box of kittens
2. A humorous Masky/Skully crack pairing fic

I hate my imagination (and the EMH off topic thread) when stuff like this will give me ideas.

Why is everybody on this forum obsessed with fanfiction? And crack fanfiction, at that?

Neutral It would be nice to see something that's true to the original and well written, if you're going to go the whole fanfic route, is all I'm sayin'.

Kittens being the only thing that can defeat Slenderman would be scarily close to a dream I had once. Scarily close.

Because crackfic can be hilarious. Note the "can be," some of it goes way too far. I'm a crackfic factory, just not for MH because it would feel weird and if I think about it, if someone wrote gross fics for a youtube movie I made, I'd be freaked out as anything.

Someone tried to, and it was sort of true to the original at the time, but they stopped writing it, I guess because as the original developed more, bits of the fic started becoming completely wrong.

This is what happens when you have too much free time on your hands. I'm more into humorous stuff than slash/fluff/romance fics.

It's hard to find a well written fanfic that keeps the characters in character (hell, even trying to write it IC without screwing it up).

I have to admit, if I was going to write anything slightly implying any sort of pairing, it'd have to be crack simply because I could never take romance in this series seriously. It's fun to have a laugh at pairing fics and play with them as jokes, but (even though I'm a notorious slash writer) I have some standards.

That being said, fanfiction would be a cool way to play with theories- like "what if" fanfiction exploring things like, what if Jay never got the tapes, or what if Alex was Masky, etc etc.

I'd suspect that would consist of him going to the hospital if he ever discovered he had missing time, and wistfully wondering whatever happened to that Alex guy.

Not that you couldn't set it as another character like... well, anyone if you disregard bits of backstory.

I was thinking something like this. Like, someone ELSE gets them- Amy, Tim... it would be interesting to have someone ELSE in J's shoes, since they'd have a different personality and approach things differently. Brian, for example, might not stay so calm and act as logically as J, which would lead to things getting much more chaotic. You'd have to change some backstory of course- it'd probably end up with J swapping places with whoever was the current recipient of the tapes and vanishing, becoming masky, etc.

>.> if I wasn't so lazy I would write this fic.

The main problem to me is that we don't really KNOW these people or how they would react to these situations. Not saying it's impossible to write it well, just that it is impractical and has the potential to become self-insert fanwank.

It does, of course... And all fanfiction has the ability to do that, in a way, since so many people take a character and completely ignore their canon personality and simply use them as an author avatar.

But I think it has potential. It'd have to be someone willing to really dig in and try to make profiles based off of tiny little scraps of character exposition hidden amongst all the horror... But. I don't know if the average fanfiction writer wants to do that....

(i'm one of those people who takes fanfiction too seriously when I write it sadly. if only I spent so much time working on novels >.>)
