I would like to thank 42e as well. Excellent job; you were given the resources you apparently needed (i.e. funding, writers, etc.) by Disney (thanks, Disney!) to do a fantastic job, and it was a great ride, culminating in that beautiful meltdown...just...wow.

Bravo!

Very Happy

It's been a blast, even though I came in late and have had to watch this unfold from the other side of the world. But at least, I have a couple of Arcade Aid badges to show for it that I'm sure no one of my RL friends would understand the meaning of.
42E, members of FL/UF, and all the people who were tweeting at #flynnlives last night - thankyou, it's been a great game. Looking forward to the next one!

end of line

Thank you 42E. For rekindling a love I had as a child in 82 for, in my mind, was one of the best films of all time! Everything was well executed and kept all of us in suspense for the next clu, the next puzzle that led us to this point and a fantastic finish. I am never going to forget this experience, as well as, the fabulous people on this board. Who gave their time and some of their swag to people like me who couldn't get to a drop point. Total unselfishness. I'm really going to miss everything that 42E and this community has brought to this new movie! But I guarantee that after the movie has settled down and all the swag hysteria is over I can say one thing for sure...

FLYNN LIVES!!!!!

Man, I'm so glad this is over... I had such an awful experience and hated every step of... of... ..bah, I can't do it! It was great, it was awesome, it was memorable, loved it (even my pitcell drop fiasco Laughing )

Anyway, I tend to ramble, so will keep this as short and sweet as possible. I've been here since ILB in 2004, and having a full-time desk job usually means I can't be as involved as I may like to be. So it's rare that I'll be able to get involved and stick through in an ARG from beginning to end, let alone manage a wiki for its entire run. The format of FL allowed me to plan to take part in big events, and actually get work done in the days/weeks between them, haha.

But, I am just as much a player as anyone else here, excited by the franchise and well-made ARGs in general. I miss out on a lot because really, work does come first (most of the time Razz), but it's awesome seeing how fast and efficiently people come together from everywhere to solve problems and puzzles. Opinions of swag-heavy campaigns aside, it was well put together for the demographic it was reaching. And yes, the physical rewards for playing have raised the bar - kudos to 42 Entertainment and Disney for all their effort and attention.

But mainly, and this really is key - the community and teamwork through every stage, every event of this campaign has been phenomenal. Every ARG seems to form its own community of dedicated followers, many of whom stick around, who stick together as time goes on. Friendships are formed - online and offline - and the memories last. It was great to see so many new faces, and returning ones, and I truly hope people stick around here for future ARGs and community reunions Smile. If people really are key, then it doesn't matter the size of an ARG, who created it, or how many are playing - it's as enjoyable to its followers as its community of followers allows it to be, even if it's a flop Smile

...I'm rambling again. =P
Thanks to those who helped with the wiki, your wiki (it's in need of some big updates from recent events tho!), and for supporting each other and helping keep Unfiction a great place to play ARGs Wink

This place is set apart from others, in my experience, as a community of people simply for the fact that people (generally =) care about each other, care about having and providing positive experiences (as far as players can manage), and trying to keep the atmosphere positive and inviting.
** Be sure to thank SpaceBass for providing Unfiction; even consider donating to help assuage the server maintenance and hardware costs, and the admins and moderators for doing their damndest to keep this an amazing environment to play games and have amazing experiences!

Hope more of you consider attending the next ARGFest! Keep attentive and be ready to book off a a few days next year when details are hashed out - it's an awesome time to get together with people from all across North America, even some of those from across the pond... with everyone sharing a common interest, representing a wide spectrum of lifestyles, beliefs, cultures, and personalities - yet all differences aside. It's not an event you want to miss Smile

I love seeing more locals pop up in the ARG community too... great to see some new names posting from Canada, from Ontario, and especially from the GTA! =) Soon we'll be able to have our own big ARG-meets, just for fun, nostalgia, and good times, hehe.

Ok so now, can I has some sleep please?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Almost all of my twitter friends and Facebook peeps are from ARGs...people I've almost never met face to face and I love them all..

I hope to keep playing along as best I can as a single dad who works full time..

Thanks to 42E for helping out...even the few times I've had to call!

We all appreciate that wiki page Bruce. If it wasn't for Unfiction and your FL wiki page I would have been stumped and screwed on some of these puzzles. Thanks!!

This has indeed been a wild ride for me. Other than Sony's 2012 dead drop this has been my very first viral campaign I actually got to take part in and it was amazing. I have posters, pins, postcards and even coins from this and all it started from just a little "bit" of information. So from the bottom of my heart thank you 42E, Disney and all you gals and guys here and Uni for making this a great first time for me.

What Bruce said.....

Thanks Disney and especially 42E for doing this. It was an awesome adventure and was my first ARG and for sure not my last. Although I didn't get to participate in many of the drops due to work, I was able to pitch in where I could for the online sections of the game. I was already hyped over Legacy, and thanks to this, even more so.

I look forward to joining in on other ARGs in the future and possibly joining in on the ARGfest that has been mentioned.... that sounds like a blast!

I'm happy that I got to make a bunch of new friends online and perhaps sometime will be able to meet some of you in the future.

Kevin

I will never in all my life forget how excited and in disbelief I was, when I opened the mailbox to see my first yellow package that said "Flynn Lives", and how incredible it was to see that Encom badge with my face on it. Thanks 42 Entertainment and Disney, for making this more than just a movie promotion, but a really special once in a lifetime experience for TRON fans.

And as an aside, while it's hard not to feel sad knowing there's no more games and puzzles to solve, it is kind of nice to know we can take a break from explaining what an "ARG" is to people when you get something cool.
Laughing

Here's to the next one! (Dark Knight Rises anyone? I missed Why So Serious and will never make that mistake again. ^^ )

FAREWELL, PROGRAMS

I already said thanks, but my head was buzzing all day today, so I needed to say more (some of this is cross-posted from the DigitalPulse thread).

Here's my recap from yesterday in LA (written mostly for non-players who read my blog, but it also has a bit of wrap-up of my overall feelings about the whole ARG):
http://e-ticket.livejournal.com/672626.html

I was in Hall H at SDCC in '08 when they teased the original test footage (in all the bootleg footage, you can actually hear me in the back of the room yell "OMIGOD" when the TR2N logo comes up). So, obviously, I'm a huge TRON nerd, and this whole experience has been SOOOO up my alley, story-wise. But even beyond that, I really connected with the gameplay in collaborative ways I'd never experienced before.

I'd dabbled in ARGs a little bit (I played a little of Cloudbusters and ILoveBees and YearZero), but had never dove in headfirst before this game. Part of the reason for that was these boards -- not only because they were a great resource in solving the puzzles, but a great resource of cool people, period.

Big thanks to all you Unfictioners out there for helping to make it such a great experience. I will definitely be doing more in the future.

Gosh, I have been doing this since well, I think 2005. I have participated in about 12 ARG's and Virals myself, and helped numerous others with theirs. Some people may not understand what we are doing, as even my wife rolls her eyes when I mention these things. I find it exciting and exhilarating to participate in these games and have rewards (we sent the text message), and watch the story that we were a part of unfold. I know to all of you it hurts when you are not first to a drop, but remember the camaraderie and companionship we gain with other players. I have known The Bruce, SowasRed, FSUROBBIE, and Edgecrusher for a long time know, and I think that some of us consider ourselves veterans of the campaign. We love to see new people come in, solve the puzzles, and help those who are just starting out. It is the saying " if only the people in the theater seats knew that we were the ones that sent the page" it just makes us feel that we were a part of something great. 42E, you my friends are the ultimate group to do these, and I hope that between blockbuster movies you do smaller games to keep us going. I don't know how you could top this one, I will say that Project Abraham you gave us the hardest puzzles of all, so these were quite easy compared to that. Thank you again, friends and coleagues, we played a great game.

ps. to those in phoenix. I will see you Monday, and I have that graphic Robbie, I am going to try to make my own FL tshirt this weekend.

I only recently signed up with Unfiction, but I was a long time lurker. I joined FlynnLives back in March. I discovered it when AintItCoolNews posted something regarding the first Arcade Aid challenge. Got hooked after that.
I ended up with 24 badges (so far). I think that is the most you can get without living in one of the cities where they had live events.
Very good stuff! Can't wait to see the movie. Definitely has enriched the experience. I wish more movies did something like this.
End of line.

I wonder if there's gonna be a subtle nod to the ARG like there was in The Dark Knight, with it culminating with that group of people emulating batman getting ready to hit the town and then in the movie you saw some of the members of that group trying to get Scarecrow.

Supposedly those of us in the Tron panel at SDCC 2010 are going to be the crowd voices in the Game Grid. It would be neat if we got a more direct nod though.

Now, off to write thank you cards for 42E and Disney. I'm debating on sending cookies.

And to all y'all on unfiction, especially to those who make it possible, thanks. It has been great to be able to connect to fellow flargers. And Bruce, that wiki was a life saver to be able to read over past events. Thanks dude.

This has been an awesome year, that's for sure. I thought about this for a couple days now, and wanted to make sure this came from the right place.

I think it's best that the general public gets in on our work for the screening Monday. That will generate so much more success for the movie come the 17th than we could have done. So it's a good thing that our efforts will yield great rewards, ie. a third Tron movie. So, we all did a GREAT job to move this game to its hopeful reemergence in a couple years :]

One thing I wanted to apologize for was the February drop, which I still feel stupid for. I entered all three codes with my screen name and I should have waited and met up with the local Phoenix crew. In the months I've got to know y'all, that has been my biggest regret of this ARG: that I screwed up and took all 3 codes. That won't happen again!

Djchristensen, nichkname. W4ffles, you guys are gold, man. There's definitely more ARG's to come, and it's great to come in contact with proper good people like you guys. Also, the guys over at Somethingawful were a big help, and I'm glad to see less and less of the stereotype of internet nerds. We're just nerds, damnit!

Thanks to 42Entertainment and, of course, Disney for taking a chance on a cult movie that came out when I was 5. Sure the acting would never win an Oscar, but it broke ground on imagination and wonder for computers not just for me but millions of other guys and girls our age.

And it's not over until we know Flynn Lives, right?
