Someone should write a wrap of the days events since so much happened. A lot of people are probably out of the loop.
actually MovieViral.com (@movieviral) asked me to do just that. It's being reviewed right now.
As for the free screening link getting out and about, as I debated whether to tweet it, it exploded all over twitter. There was simply no containing it, no matter how much we wished it would be for us. So a post or two on FB is nothing compared to how it spread there.
@Cherokee you're welcome. I had a blast today.

Hey guys! Long time lurker that never had anything worth contributing.... UNTIL NOW!
If you google the number on the pager (415 494-8007) a couple web sites pop up saying that's the number for a female "escort" in SF named "Yvette". Could it be that Kevin Flynn has really been hiding out in SF pretending to be a woman this whole time?

Maybe the number expired and Disney/42E bought it. I can only find reference to yvette as late as Augast this year.

Regarding the screening- how 'bout they just look at our Encom Badges for proof of participation? Mine weighs 8 lbs from all the award pins on it accumulated over the game- proof enough that we played.

I was a bit peeved last night... but I've had some time to think about it.
It was a shame that people outside of the US and Canada couldn't participate in the final puzzle. But I've enjoyed it, and got an Arcade Aid poster and many other goodies to remember this ARG by - so thanks to 42E for a great game!

It'd be a shame if actual long time Flynn Lives players got closed out of the screenings, because the Electrify link has now gone around the interwebs and they'll likely have a lot of non-FL people turning up.

I don't know if they could do this, but it would be cool if they had two lines- one confirmed FL members (checking usernames on an ASUS, for instance), and one for non-confirmed members that only get in when all FL members have entered. Wouldn't be hard to do, and would definitely show off the ASUS laptops that are part of the promotion.
Not that any of the decision makers are reading this....

It does say "Congratulations Flynn Lives Members!", so maybe there is a chance you have to at least be a member. Can't say how many new members there might be between now and then, though.
We could just be grasping at straws here.

The weird issue to me is they started the game with the pit cell event (which I wasn't around or aware of the game at that time), which had a location in Minneapolis, MN. Then when they had Tron Night (which probably wasn't associated with the game, although they did promote it), they also had screenings around the Twin Cities area. When they got to the end of the game, the closest location to Minnesota was Chicago, and now the free screening of the movie also leaves my area out.
It would have been nice for the game to be consistent in allowing the locations where it started to be included until the end, but I can't complain. I got a lot of cool stuff anyway, it just would have been fun to participate more fully in the end game.

Just to clarify: although most of the game is under the control of 42E, the screenings themselves are under direct control of Disney... "Tron Night 2010" certainly was. I spoke to the local representation and they reported directly to Disney. They didn't even know what 42E was.
42E has nothing to do with the screenings, the "first come first serve" guideline or any of that. Don't blame them.
Maybe Disney wants chaos and people knocking each other out to get in line... Any press is good press, right?

Why did meltdown 'end' with CLU smiling at us? Maybe that page wasn't from Kevin. Maybe it was from CLU. Maybe he needed us to open the portal so he can get out?
I think that only strengthens my theory that Clu, not Kevin, is the one who pages Alan.
I agree, especially when Clu tells Sam that he is very happy to see him the the trailers. I have a feeling he has lured him into the grid to be a pawn in a greater plan he has in the works.

ties into my idea of Clu wanting to harness the itnernet to do a digital pulse either for a doorway to get meatspace under his thumb (for the betterment of all', or simply to expand his electronic footprint.
After the initial dissapointment I feel better. I've had a long few months to hang out with you folk and i"m happy for my involvement.
Thanks for the fun.

I wonder if it was Sam he was trying to lure or if he wanted Alan. Alan wrote the original Tron program...he might have wanted Alan on the grid to use in creating more Tron-like programs. Sam was probably a shock to Clu, but something he could work with. Just thinking out loud here...
So, why is it not Monday?

I really have enjoyed the hell out of this. It has made me want to participate in others. I am a little sore about people that did not participate in the ARG being able to see it too, but I understand. Not all the cities have the participation that others have. So to limit it to the maybe 20 of us in Utah is not cost effective.
Besides the people who did not participate got cheated out of all the fun we have had. I still remember all the fun from solving the puzzles and especially tonight with the cell phones. That was a ton of fun. I think my favorite puzzle was the locker puzzle for the footage.
I'll be there in the SLC with ya!
