Well, he never really got to beat the Rake. He had to retreat instead, letting it take his room. Now he's looking for a victory to make up for that.

lol. I just thought it was weird how determined he was to win this tournament. It seems mildly psychotic of him lol.

LOL. I think this might just be what happens when you tell a 16-year-old "this is your character's motivation" and then let him ad lib. Wink

I was going to say it could just be his age.........christ that made me feel old.

I agree that it's just his age, seeing that I'm around 16-year-olds all the time, and am 16 myself. If i placed any sort of challenge in front of any of the kids I know, they'd immediately assume they would win no matter what and would focus on that. Even if their lives were on the line.
Teenagers are arrogant. XD

Fakeedit- Well said, Mattwan

Well, you said it yourself, Rhiannon: You don't win, you only not-lose. Maybe Alex thinks that by not-losing this, he'll get off of Habit's/Rake's hitlist.

There really does seem to be something in his determination to win. I often get the feeling Alex isn't completely "open" with us. I mean other than the obvious I entered anyways" situation or even that he's clearly not the most explanatory person (even with his brother and the guys)- I mean even beyond all that. I get a feeling he's got something else hidden from us, even if it's just a thought he's having.

Really, why did any of us enter?

You can't really say "to help the guys" or anything like that. We knew from the start that it was a tournament, and tournaments generally pit players against each other at one point or another. No one is helping them by competing.

So, really, it all boils down to the fact that we want to be included. We want to be the cool kids, the ones who get attention because we're doing something dangerous, because entries were limited, because we have information that other people can only get through us. In short -- arrogance.

just throwing out there an observation that has more or less been made already, but im'ma tie it up all nice and neat for y'all:

in EMH, all the characters seem to be pretty genre-savvy except for one. alex. well, and possibly ryan, but we didn't see him enough to really judge. still, breaking the one rule a psychotic puppetmaster told you not to? at any rate, alex is the odd one out. we figured it would mean he'd get his ass killed ages ago, but we were wrong.

i propose a theory: alex is the last man standing simply because he does not have the genre-savviness to know how to deal with the shit going on around him. while everyone else has their fancy plans to outsmart and defeat the bad guys, he can just go "~staaaaare~" until something happens. i don't know how it would work, but gods it would be funny if he was the only one who got out alive. depressing, yeah, but funny as hell.

O.o new pet favorite end-game: alex alone in his house, talking to his dead friends about joining their fitness series.

bee arr bee, crying forever.

edit: hah. i already discussed why i entered on the off-topic thread. right sad-panda'd it up on there. but suffice to say i didn't enter it to win.

I entered because I don't really do these kinds of things and I wanted the experience.

...I'm a naive fool, aren't I?

I shouldn't be so general -- I saw why you entered, Raven.

But, really, how many of you Rabbits aren't totally stoked that you're in it? And most of you wouldn't give up your number for anything, 'cause you feel like a badass having it, true?

I entered because I thought it would be fun. Also, I thought it would be something completely different from what I had ever done. I didn't think of arrogance, or lording it over other people, really.

Well, I'm just coming off as an asshole today, aren't I? Haha.

Honestly, I thought it'd be awesome. I wanted to be included. I wanted first-hand information. I wanted to participate in a way not everyone was going to.
