Obviously whether MH, EMH and TT are 'quality' is a matter of opinion, but I definitely rate EMH as one of the best quality SM ARGs going on at the moment. Smaller vlogs are all pretty much failing miserably at the moment.

Then why they make move now? Sad

I think you meant to say "Why they make movie now?" Wink I'm not sure what it is that they're doing wrong, just that they are doing it wrong. I think too many people are jumping into vlogs without really having an idea of how to effectively utilise the medium. If you want to do talking exposition, just podcast rather than vlog. Actually... I wouldn't mind a SlenderPod story to follow. But yeah, I would never tackle a vlog because I know that I cannot make manifest the sort of things I visualise because I don't have those video skills, and I think that's an understanding of my limits that several vloggers lack.

I think I posted it in my last review, but my issue with a lot of these vlogs is that people assume we want to see them talking into a camera for 5 minutes straight. Which can be done effectively, as evidenced by all the Youtube comedians, but it requires a bit more editing than one would think.

Yeah, that's exactly what you posted, and I agree with you. my only issue is the fact that there's an inherent difference between a written blog and a filmed blog. In the latter, you can actually have a sense of immediacy because filming is a passive action, and it's this immediacy and passive narration that is underutilised.

Because a narrator actually has to take time to sit down and write events in a blog, you can only ever get second-hand accounts of encounters and events. This isn't a bad thing, merely a limitation. Because it requires active imput by the narrator a blog should always be in reference to the past, whilst a vlog requires no active input and as such can make reference to the "present" in filming, and this more than any actual visual aspect of vlogging is the key difference in my opinion.

More vloggers need to either stop being lazy and play the medium to its strengths, or switch to blogging/casting.

That's a good point too; however, a bit of a recount can be effective. Vinny likes to do it in some of his videos. I don't like to say that it can't be done in a vlogging format, but it does need a little bit of work to do it effectively.

I'm beginning to like where DarkHarvest00 is going, they seem to want to throw in some paranormal happenings that aren't Slendy sightings, Masky antics or memory lapses.

Oh no, I'm not saying that vloggers shouldn't have any past-tense recount of events, they should definitely utilise that. It's just when that's all that is done then you know the vlog is criminally underutilising the potential of the film medium.

As an aside, has A Lack of Lexicon been tagged for review as yet? As one of the few ARGs I've seen where the players actually lost because they didn't solve one of the puzzles, I think it has a bit of uniqueness amongst all the Slenderblogs hanging around and might have a go at reviewing it if it hasn't already been done.

Cool. Laughing

Do you need another reviewer? I could write one or two if you need it.

That would actually rock. Lately, I've just been picking out the good ones from the amount of them that I've been sent, rather than actively searching...if there are any you enjoy, as always, I'm reachable by e-mail or PM. New submitters would be GREATLY appreciated.

By the way, I'm gonna write something up for H(a)unting sometime soon. Just a heads up.

Indeed. It was certainly weak starting with a lot of filler but right now I definitely consider it to be the coveted fourth place vlog.
