Am I the only one who clicks into this forum at least three times a day? I'm behind on all clues that everyone seems to be throwing out there, but I did want through a few locations yesterday for a nice stroll with my wife.
Like I've said before, this hunt made me fall in love with the city all over again, I was at rockafeller plaza yesterday after a stroll through a chilly CP. Man this city is great

Hey ProdigalOne,

No you are not. LOL!
I know I really want to take trips into Manhattan, Western & Northern Brooklyn and maybe some parts of Queens. Thank God For Guiliani and Bloomberg because they have really fixed things up. Wish it was that way when I lived there.
As for the hunt NYC is with out a doubt one of the most complicated places on earth.

Re: Hey Misry
Maybe it's the bird or something.

You say that you have only been "attacked" by one person. However, I made reference to your username (as a sort of twist on "Misery" with James Caan) and you got all bent out of shape. I also apologized immediately if you felt insulted. You tell bertandernie that he is "childish" and that he needs to relax. You said that I only "pretended" to be an adult and that after my suggestion that Tutty in the chest might be a good clue you asked which of the 12 voices in my head told me that. Now you say "maybe it's the bird or something".

It would appear that you are the one that should relax and stop taking petty shots at the others on this forum.

Remember, it's all in good fun!

Are you talking about these 2 posts you made to me out of the blue when we had no previous conversation??? Yeah I should have been nice to you after that Rolling Eyes

Hey Missry....if that is your username and you are a woman...well lets just say I feel like James Caan and even if you're a nice lady,
I don't think I want to meet you in a park alone at night if you're carrying a shovel or a sledge or something.

I 'm not sure if this was previously noted (I have tried to research it) but has anyone pointed out that if Tutty was buried
with the treasure, that he might have been the one to bury it? As I have been taught (maybe wrongly), pirates have someone else
dig the hole to bury the treasure then shoot that person to be buried along with the treasure so as to keep its' secret.
That is why Tutty is the real treasure.
P.S. Sorry, Missry, if I insulted you. It's all tongue-in-cheek. And you really don't need to carry a sledge around...please....

Oh and the person I posted the NBC being the bird to knows that I was joking.

Walton
logo

Kiwi asked for a picture of the Walton Hauling logo which I meant to suggest looks like a moon to me.

http://www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=7967

Starting at the Christmas medallion in front of 30 Rock and going in the direction to which the vault turned in WPPPT, proceed through the British Empire building and see if you arrive at Walton hauling.

I called the fellow there at Walton (which handles only theatrical and related storage) and he says the treasure is not there (and they don't have units as such). But I'm still curious if it has a keypad granting access by a 10-digit number. What I'm looking for is where Vinnie Bova stored his balls on or about November 1, 2009. The treasure chest is in the mosh pit under the colored balls and it is in storage rather than buried underground. They otherwise would have had no reason to bury it in November (as reported in NYT). Given at one point they say it is underground, I think the best bet is 111 EMPIRE BLVD in the basement. 10 digit keypad. Sections labeled by letters (like E).

some thoughts

Hey. I only discovered this WLOG recently, and I haven't analyzed the videos too closely yet. However, I thought I'd post a couple of thoughts just join in the fun.

1) My first thought when seeing the final video was Fort Greene Park. It's the only park that I know of that sorta has a ship. The monument looks like a crow's nest. (It is also the entrance to a crypt. Not sure if it's always open to the public.) I did notice a few others mention it earlier in this thread. (I also read that the masterminds behind this project live in Brooklyn. It would make sense for them to bury the gold there so they can casually check to see if it had been found.)

2) Looking for a connection with Port of Cortland near Fort Greene Park, I noticed that the Court St. subway station has lines R,2,3,4,5 (http://www.mta.info/nyct/maps/subwaymap.pdf). However, the R is a bit of a walk from the 2,3,4,5. This seemed to fit with 5 docks and you can only see 4 at most.

3) I also looked for the end of a subway line that had something to do with turds (ep 5). First I thought to look for sewer treatment plants, but then I saw Flushing, Queens at the end of line 7. (This has also been noted in this thread.)

So, the only way Fort Greene Park can work is if the clues lead you up to queens and back to Brooklyn. I'm not sure that they do, but obviously there is a lot going on in some of those episodes.

I've also realized how easy it is to make things fit. For example, 250 ft. That's 249 extra feet. The monument in Fort Greene Park is 100 ft wide and 149 feet tall.

After watching the first video more carefully, it's pretty clear that you have to trace out the entire route they describe throughout the videos. The resulting image is important to finding the chest. I wonder if 250 feet means there are 250 locations.

I agree that it is very clear that we are to trace a route. I think alot of people here are just jumping around from one place to the other with out any logical path getting from a to X. Smile

retracing steps

In fellowtraveler's transcript thread, he/she has a possible path through episode 5. I definitely agree with everything through ep 2, however, there are things from ep 3 that do not seem to line up perfectly. Obviously, we're suppose to take the subway, but the colors don't match stops completely.

For instance:
orange orange yellow = 34th Herald sq

There are more than 3 trains at that stop. I assume these trains haven't changed significantly in the past year to mess up the clues. I think there is a different way to interpret the groups of colors other than as stops.

I agree too, but maps from which time period? I don't think it's 2010.

The Map(s)

Keep in mind the following. There are 2 maps, not just one. One map leads you to a specific neighborhood and then the other map has clues to narrow down that area to the exact spot. Almost everything in this puzzle is a double down clue.

I haven't picked up on there being two maps. I thought either: i) the landmarks/directions lead you to a final location and the trace of the path there can be applied for local directions, or ii) the trace of the path points to a location (like a giant 'X' or arrow). Is there something that says there are two maps? It seems pretty clear to me in the first two episodes we're building a single map, but after that it's pretty confusing.

random idea

I've been thinking a lot about episode 7, namely the connections to the Aubrey-Maturin series. I noticed that the books are published by W. W. Norton, whose headquarters are located in NYC. Their logo is a flying bird!

ep 3 observations

Ah, I think ep 3 is where things really start to get confusing. Looking at the threads on this episode, I don't see any solutions that feel like they really fit. At least not as cleanly as they did for ep 1 & 2.

Here are a few of things I've noticed:

The subway colors in the group shots don't match any stops (the second group of colors matches 2 stops, but that isn't very helpful). The order of the colors probably need to be interpreted in a different way.

In some shots it looks like the puppets are flashing numbers (like the captain at 0:50). Also, I wonder if the order of the colors in the close-ups is significant. I'm try to find an indication for the number of stops on the trains.

When Larry lists the questions, some numbers have ding sounds after them: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5. (Reminded me of the stop request ding.)

The captain calls Larry Laurence. There is a Lawrence St stop on the R train in Brooklyn. It is after Court St Station (Port of Cortland?). Could the pirate laugh at Central Park, haRRRR, mean we were to get on the R train?

The ninja's headband looks like the same color as the S train to me. (3 points showing on star means 3 stops?)

Anyway, just thinking out loud. None of this fits together nicely yet.

That is a good idea. I was thinking the same with Abrcrombie in Time Square. I really think it has to be a bird that moves though. There are plenty of birds you could find on google earth. I found a site that has all the flying birds away from their nest. There is a lot and some of them even match up with a real ship's path. I even found a real feather bird flying between the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Ha. I had no idea what the NYC subway colors meant:
