Welcome to the forum, and thanks That's a pretty good stab at it. From a very popular beer brand (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroh_Brewery_Company ) to hard to find, this could fit. I noticed that youtube had an old commercial for Stroh's beer from (surprise, surprise) 1979.
Whether this is what was being asked for on the audio, it does seem plausible. There have been sooo many pages now, and much discussion on just what was said, that it is certainly possible that one form of this image has appeared before, but I can only recall an energy drink and Brylcream photos appearing.
Again, welcome,
XL

Lowenbrau beer can was mentioned before, but I don't think Stroh's was. With the 1979 ad XL found - could be. Maybe it'll just be one of those minor aspects in the movie that ARGers will get.
After long day of battling scariest thing he ever saw...
Hero: Man this alien fighting is hard work. I sure could use a cold one.
Gets in car and hot foots it to Lillian 7-11.
Inside store.
Hero: (to clerk) Do you have any Stroh's?
Clerk: Check the cooler .
Hero frantically searches beer cooler. As clerk enters aisle, Hero backs into him.
Insert untitled.mp3.
Cut to outside 7-11.
Hero: Damn. I wonder if Cathy has any Stroh's at the Snack Shack.

heres the link to the youtube video for Stroh's beer from 1979, although, back then it seems that they used silver cans. What you guys are proposing sounds like a great theory though. The only thing throwing me away from it is the '79 commercial and the silver cans instead of blue.

STROHS Beer I'm glad you found that can. It has been bugging me from the beginning. Blue can lion on it? DUH! I knew that Strohs had a blue lion can. But it's sooo long since i've seen one of those cans.
The problem I'm having is that the ARG is taking place now. And if Josh is asking for a Strohs can, a brand that has not been on the market since forever, why would he go to a 7-11? Wouldn't that be a specialty store or a liquor store to ask for a RARE beer?
I do like the Strohs idea. Thank you for posting. Not sure about the Braegen14 file, the beer jingle " from one beer lover to another Strohs" steps up in notes 5 times. Not close to the jingle. Good idea though.

Actually, the distributor in Weirton carries Stroh's beer and it comes in a bottle or the blue can with the lion on it. I think it's available in just about every state. Since the ARG is taking place in current time - this could be the can. Maybe it just goes back to what someone (I think it was XL) said about Mysterio using the audio file to show Josh he is able to keep tabs (no pun intended) on him, and the file is of Josh buying some brewski after a hard day at the paper mill.

someone should ask josh what his favorite brewha is, if he says stroh, we actually might be helping him with the clue mysterio sent him, since in the arg reality he is still trying to figure out the clues himself...actual reality...its team jj and they already know...or maybe its just a waste of keystrokes, you decide im gonna hunt down some stroh /b/ros

C'mon now. Does anyone think that they would have to describe the appearance of a can of STROH's beer to someone working in a liquor store?
Cant wait for the game to get going.. Its driving us all to drink!

Since were discussing the blue can with the lion on it
But I agree with Xeno ( was it?) .. that maybe he was just recording Josh while Josh was buying whatever product it may be at the store, relevance not on what he was buying but more to ....
"but I still found you easy"
I was right behind you dude recording this.

blue can, lion on it Yep, there are several choices for a blue can.
The soundbyte has a kind of odd, stalkery vibe about it. I'd be nervous if I was having cryptic chat conversations with someone, then found out they were within recording distance while I was shopping.

Availability of Stroh's beer Stroh's is still available, though not everywhere according to a yahoo question/answer that asked, "Whatever happened to Stroh's beer?"
(http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080308163123AAeQouf) which stated:
"Americas Premium Fire Brewed Beer is still sold in Michigan and Ohio for sure. I miss Stroh's a great deal but as soon as the company sold out and turned its back on the city of Detroit I had to stop drinking it. I have the urge to buy some occasionally but my conscience gets the better of me."
So, it would seem that Stroh's has a limited market, and considering that, the mp3 on STIES makes a lot of sense, if Mysterio was keeping tabs on the boy--at least more sense (to me) than a search for Brylcream?!?

Beer as opposed to some other blue can XL: That's kinda my thought as well.
Also, from the entire soundbyte, it makes more sense that a cooler would be emptied of the beer, and someone would ask if there is more in back. I've done it myself. With a lineup of several kinds of beer, it would be helpful to the clerk to describe the can, "Blue can, lion on it" to help the clerk spot it more quickly.
I find it helpful to image myself in the scenario and thin of how I might react/act. Asking if there's more Brylcreem in the back, just doesn't feel natural or usual.
Just my thoughts.
