[SPEC/SEMI-OT] Goddess Durga is seen in India. Durga made a public appearance today.
It seems that Hindus and Buddhists believe this seven year old girl, named Preeti Shakya, is the reincarnation of the goddess Durga.

A little more, though it may or may not have any relevance at all.
In Hindu mythology, Durga is a fierce form of Devi, the Mother Goddess, the all-powerful almighty goddess. According to a legend the gods could not defeat the buffalo demon Mahish, who was threatening the existence of the universe. They begged Shiva for his assistance, and Shiva advised all the gods to release their shaktis.
The shaktis of the gods emerged in female form. These goddesses fused together in blinding light from which arose a magnificent goddess with many arms. She was as beautiful as she was deadly. Durga was born fully-grown and is depicted as extremely beautiful and full of rage.
The gods called this goddess Durga, the invincible one, and they armed her with all their weapons. Thus armed, Durga rode to the top of a mountain on a lion. In a bloody battle, she defeated Mahish and his army of demons and thus saved the Universe from this demon's menace.

One would think that the goddess should be the one doing the teaching...

Durga = All powerful goddess formed from the shakti's (?) of lesser gods and goddesses. The shakti's she's formed from were females. In ILB, she's a super advanced AI.
Melissa is female (as much as an AI can be). The Sleeping Princess is female too.
See where I'm going with this?
Whaddya think? Is this a dead end, or something worth investigating a little more?

AHA!
I knew Bungie/Microsoft were behind all the worlds major religions.
Atheism is the only way to be to avoid the commercial corruption of your soul.

You also forgot another link between them. The AIs are formed from brain imprints of humans (their "shakti"?).

*slaps himself*
Can't believe I missed that.
EDIT: Taking this story at face value: If Durga was indeed named for this goddess, who rises up and saves the Universe from evil, then I'm going to assume that she's not Covenant.
And if Melissa and The Sleeping Princess are shakti that will eventually form Durga, one wonders how either of them could be Covenant either.
So... pretty much, that leaves The Pious Flea.
The Pious Flea was attempting to attach itself to The Sleeping Princess. Maybe... think of the Flea as a shakti of its own for a second: maybe it's trying to merge with The Sleeping Princess in an attempt to either stop Durga from ever existing, or as an attempt to change Durga into a weapon of The Covenant.
Thoughts?

I was thinking more that the shakti was from humans, not previous AI. eg Durga could well be Yasmin.
Also the link might be based off of that but doesn't have to be taken completely. She might be all powerful, but maybe not save the universe, maybe it was done to throw us off (thinking she will save the universe), or saving the universe from the point of view of someone else (the covenant maybe).

God, I'm forgetting everything today. I was thinking that Melissa and SP were "Human AI's" like Durga mentioned, but now I remember Durga mentioning she was one. Unlikely, then, that Melissa and SP would be the shakti.
I got hit with the stupid stick today, I guess.

I thought of that, but from what little information I've heard about The Covenant, they don't seem to be ones who, in their current situation of wiping everything out, would see the Universe as being in danger.
Then again, my knowledge of the Halo universe is practically nonexistant, so there may very well be a reason for the Covenant to believe the universe needs saving.

Let's see, my own spec:
Melissa: NOT covenant
Princes: NOT covenant
Flea: NOT covenant
Stories given to us: tells us of the haloverse.

Well they seem to hate us with almost a religious zeal, to the point that they want to wipe out every single one of us. The universe itself may not be in real danger, but there's a danger of our unholy being to taint the universe with our precence in their eyes.

Think about this, though.
Suppose Humanity is descended from the Forerunner. (based on evidence in both the games and the novels, this isn't too far a stretch).
What did the Forerunner do? Utilize Halo and her sisters to destroy all sentient life in the galaxy.
The Covenent, upon seeing humans for the first time, bug out and *immediately* begin their holy war.
Maybe they think, unless humanity is destroyed, we can once again utilize Halo's weapon and make the same mistake our ancestors did thousands of years ago.
