Yes, Prisoners Dilemma is all about whether you, as a player, will be better off betraying the other players or trying to work with them. In the original scenario betrayal always has the better payoff.

@awakeasaurus It isn't about rigging the vote (not having been at the chat mind you) but rather making sure we go to HABIT as unified front... consider it the... Angora Primaries.

Not quite, and that's what makes the PD so fiendish. Unilateral betrayal has the best payoff, but mutual betrayal has the worst payoff.

EDIT: Oops, misremembered. In the classic framing, mutual betrayal has a payoff that's better than being ratted out but worse than all other options. Assuming you are the first player in these pairs, these are your payoffs:

BC: 0 years imprisonment
CC: .5 years imprisonment
BB: 5 years imprisonment
CB: 10 years imprisonment

So ChildOfAtom was right, in a single-round game betrayal is the best strategy.

I'm good with ChildofAtom as our fearless leader... but I'm wondering what the catch will be. We're dealing with a prisoner's dilemma-- something is going to go horribly wrong. This is part 1/2 of the trial, after all.

I suspect the actual Prisoner's Dilemma will be the next round of this trial, since a PD doesn't really scale up to large numbers of people. My guess is that the three leaders will be put in a situation where they have to either cooperate or defect, and each team will suffer the consequences of its leader's decision.

Or it'll be each team's leader and each team's runt pitted against each other. The traditional dilemma involves two people, after all.

Either way, I'm against reaching a consensus. This rabbit hole is a democracy, not North Korea, if you rabbits want a rigged vote go work for Kim Jong Bugs. Razz

Even a democracy is pretty much just a group of old dudes fighting amongst each other, and telling the people that's what they want.

Just saying!

Actually that would be an oligarchy, not a democracy. Technically, that's what the USA is...

As long as I'm neither, I'll vote with the group.

Okay, good to have COA's confirmation. Did we want to have another chat or do we just want to go with what we decided last night?

The chat is still open; I had to sleep for a couple hours, but I'm back now.

Voting in consensus with the majority.

I think I can contribute a good deal to any discussions.

Someone send me a link to Angora chat, please. And just out of curiosity, when will most of you be able to participate in it?

Remember, guys, "voting" here doesn't count-- we've gotta send in our ballots to HABIT. And I think we might want to organize a larger, more accessible chat before we start voting en masse.

I'm not sure of the link, but Mattwan mentioned trying another organized/scheduled chat at 6 EST. Is that good for people? Also, do we want to contact Rabbits #002 - #004 and see if they can make that chat? It'd be nice to have Jeff again, at least.

Until my account (Sionja) is activated, for now, anyone who wants the chat link should email me at sarcastically.cleverSPLATgmail.com with your rabbit number.

And just so everyone knows, I am okay with being the Runt =P. And whatever happens with HABBY's twists, like, if I'm not completely eliminated after all, I'll always put Team Angora above me *Nod!*

::facepalm::

Anyone who wants leadership as badly as FRA and Demongel do clearly should not be trusted with it. I think I'm sticking with ChildofAtom for now, at least until we do another chat and we can hash things out.
