Whoa the whole Evan waking up at the same time they find those images is actually a really good observation. Cos when Evan wakes up, he then goes downstairs to hang out with the boys and that's when he's found looking up the Can You See The Words blog on the computer. So I'm guessing that means it was involved in his dreams somehow? Or he woke up with those words in his head at least.

No, he went back to sleep after the creepy dream at 3:29, then woke up again at about 4:30 claiming he didn't remember having any dreams. There was a twitpic of him looking at the CYSTW pics, so I assume the guys showed him after all, or he found them himself, and then googled.

Well, INREALLIFE, I'm pretty sure they've got a gigantic Slender dummy. I mean, look how huge he is in Ashen Waste.

I'm pretty sure EMH Slendy has the same quality as other Slendys in that he can be seen when he wants to be seen...and he can be invisible to the naked eye when he wants to be, so I wouldn't be suprised if they were practically "rubbing elbows" with Slendy and not even knowing it.
This is very true, but it still doesn't explain the obvious change in height. Besides, if he was targeting the crew from the beginning, I'm almost positive they would be able to see him. Isn't that part of the original story, that only his targets are capable of seeing him?

Yeah, the first thing that I thought when I saw him in Ashen Wastes was 'Holy shit when did Slendy become fifty feet tall?', and then 'Wait, Evan really shouldn't be running at him with a bat'.

Also, in my humble opinion, the Slender Man in Episode 5, at about 2:03 is a fake one. Bending down like that just doesn't seem like the kind of thing Slendy would do. Besides, the funny Arnie accents immediately after the lights blow makes me think that was planned, in game.

Yeah, Basement Window Slendy is totally fake. But lurking-in-the-shadows Slendy is probably real.

edit: It's worse than dramatic rodents. I'd call the headsnap in MH a dramatic rodent. The basement window thing is comical at it's best. You see him walk by...and then he literally pounces towards the window. It's like out of a horrible haunted house.
I'd agree that Shadow Lurker Slendy (That sounds like an action figure) is real. If he had been the fake one, Evan wouldn't have seemed to have noticed him.

Yeah, the first sighting in Marble Hornets was a horrific version of the dramatic rodent. But the Basement Window Slendy was just kind of like 'Pika-Boo!'.

The height thing could have to do with the "Slendy only appears as human as he wants" aspect of the Mythos.
Or they improved the quality of their Slendy to increase fear.

Just want to check with everyone else and see if I'm crazy, does shadow lurker slendy seem a little too... short? I know he blends with the shadows on the top, but with contours you can kind of make out a neckline that should be higher, but maybe it just a trick of perspective.

WAIT A SECOND.

I really don't mean to double post, but a bit of fridge logic just kicked in. In the latest Ustream, we learned that Alex and Jeff's parents have been dead for a few years. But I realized something when watching Alex's videos again. In his first video, he talks about how his parents don't trust him, and how they think he's going to disappear. In the present tense. Meaning that either they're still alive, they were alive then and something is making Vinnie think that they died a few years ago, or they've been dead for a few years, and Alex doesn't know it.

The implication that I'm picking up is that Alex is off his rocker and is deluding himself into believing his parents are alive. Remember that talk about not telling them about the Rake because they'd put Sparky to sleep?

Vinnie basically said that in the UStream, that Alex still refers to his parents in the present tense as a self-comforting thing.

It's creepy.

Jeff has stated that Alex pretends his parents are still alive, as a way to deal with the fact that they are gone; Implementing restrictions and curfews on himself, etc.

Mission accomplished.

@quitthecarnival: Granted, but I don't think an eldritch abomination would have any reason to randomly change his height like that, over such a short period of time. And I'm not sure what you mean by 'they improved the quality of their Slendy'.

@Banished: Yeah, he does look shorter then Slendy is usually depicted, but it's been shown that Slendy can be anywhere from about six and a half (First shot in Marble Hornets, the infamous doorway shot in EMH) feet to fifteen or more (Ashen Wastes), so him being a bit short doesn't seem out of character.

Yeah, but this seems a bit more then just trauma from the deaths of his parents.

Maybe I'm just tired and therefore making a mountain out of a molehill, but meh.

-OBVIOUSLY-, Jeff is dressing up in women's clothing and pretending to be Mom. Dad is always working.

EDIT:

Jeff: "Honestly, dear, why do you have to work twelve hours a day? Because I'm trying to put food on the table, that's why!"

Alex: "MOM! DAD! YOU'RE TEARING THIS FAMILY APART!!!! T-T "

Alex is pretty crazy and pretends they're alive. I think he's most likely projecting his emotions/Jeff's rules onto his imaginary parents to create a sense of "normalcy" (even though it still wouldn't be normal for them to act that way). Or he feels he needs to more or less punish himself for something he may have done. That's why he created rules and reasons to isolate himself.

oh and I meant OOG: they found a better Slendy

My personal take is they realized "hey mom, a repair man came into my room and died, and I keep getting mauled, and we put 30 feet of chain across my door and I am sleeping in my brother's room lol but no worries lol" was a bridge too far. And then they came up with this "sometimes we pretend our parents are alive" retcon because they wrote themselves into a corner.

Alex didn't start crazy, but we have to deal with him being crazy now.

As long as were on the topic of Jeff and Alex's parents, the revelation of their non-existence is making me rethink something. In one of the hidden videos there was a shot of a staircase with Sparky standing on it, while a female sounding voice quietly said "Good Night".

Initially, I assumed this was Jeff and Alex's mother, speaking to one of them off-screen, but now I'm trying to figure out who it could be. Could it have been a clip from the past and it was Jessa saying that to Jeff or could it be a future clip and maybe something Damsel says to one of them?
