Love the theories about the parents being in a trial and the HABIT impersonating Slenders. Genius stuff. Had a thought myself right as I woke up and am still trying to see if there is anything to negate it in my sleepy mind. Evan is Damsel's brother. Evan came into the EMH gang in high school, when she came north. Even, the one who can't operate a computer was the one to find the CYSTW blog almost instantly on his own. Evan was in the CYSTW Marley and Me post vid, yet Damsel said she did not know Evan at all, and he said the same about her. We know he was defensive of her when the others called her crazy in CCNB vid also. Maybe not siblings, but there is some kind of strange relationship there. Would also coincide with the Wondertwins theory brought up earlier about them being together brings baddies. Maybe they were separated at birth and don't even know but feel a connection instinctively ala Luke and Leia. Coffeetime for me now.

EDIT:almost spit coffee on my monitor watching that vid Mira. Awesometastic!

I was speculating along these lines a while back, but Evan complicated this by saying in the Ustream (I think) that he was Jersey born and raised.

I still think it would've been a neat way to go, though. Very 19th-century-novel.

If this whole thing ends with the gang dancing in a snowy field and a slow pull back to reveal Alex staring blankly into a snowglobe, Imma scream so loud.

Same.

That is one of the... I don't want to say problems with this series, because personally I love it, but it's a problem for forming any reasonable theories: there is no one that we can really trust as a reliable narrator. They're all unreliable, for various reasons. The main crew has clearly experienced memory and mind alterations, Doc Corenthal was going crazy, HABIT is a psychopath... We can't really trust anyone's story 100%, which is just fertile ground for a forest of epileptic trees to spring forth.

On the subject at hand of Evan and Damsel's relationship, until we see evidence otherwise, I'm willing to believe that they didn't know each other in this life/timeline/universe... but if Damsel is [redacted] in the doc's letters, the Christmas letter indicates that F!Evan and F!Damsel got along well. So Evan's investigations and his defense of her might be echoes of that past bond. He knows on an instinctive level that she's a good person, that she had nothing to do with Jessa disappearing, so he tries to help her and defend her, even though he probably couldn't explain why.

When dealing with Slenderman, there's always the chance of an unreliable a narrator because of the very nature of the beast. All you need to do is look at the quote in your signature and realize that applies to EVERY SLENDER STORY.

For me, part of the fun is the unreliable narrator situation, although it can be frustrating at times.

I should note, too, that House of Leaves has a lot of the unreliable narrator situation. There are at least two unreliable narrators in the book. (OOG: It makes sense, too, that someone making something Slender-related would also be familiar with HoL. I'm hoping HoL plays a bigger part in this in the future.)

I agree that, for me, the unreliable narration is part of EMH's (massive) charm. Rhi's right that it does make theorizing difficult, though. On balance, I don't think I'd have it any other way.

Hahaha. Nice try, but the Angora oligarchy have already taken efforts to put our puppet rabbit into power.

SOON, NOTHING WILL STOP US.
