The Online Auction will Start at 6p EST

As part of the Aglaura Public Library Celebration of Local Artists and Their Work, the Library will be holding a very special Fund Raising event on Sunday, May 4th, 2003. This will be the very first time that we will be offering select items for bid on the Internet, to allow people outside the immediate Aglaura area to have a chance at purchasing a piece of Aglaura history.

We debated several different ways of conducting the Auction and came to the conclusion that there really was no easy alternative to using an online Auction service. We were somewhat concerned, however, that our somewhat small and loyal group of supporters might be overwhelmed on a service like E-Bay, and therefore choose a smaller, more manageable alternative.

Starting tomorrow at 6:00PM Eastern the special Aglaura Fund Raising Items will be posted at Bidfields.com. Registration is free, but a credit card is required even though it won't be charged. We apologize for the problem that may present to some potential bidders but it's a feature common to all the online Auction services. You will not need a credit card to bid on or buy an item, however, as we will be accepting PayPal, Money Orders, and Personal Checks as well. More details will be available in the individual auction listings. Each auction will run a different length of time, with some of the smaller items lasting only a few days and the larger items taking a full week. Additional details about the auctions and links to the listings will be posted on this page on Sunday May 4th, 2003 at 6:00PM Eastern.
