Oh, forgot to mention this in an earlier post, but Melodyman, I've thought the same thing--just never mentioned it--regarding STIES being, as you said, someTHING the alien got caught doing, and to elaborate, to someone, or something. I think that concept is much more frightening than the latest, greatest monster (though I love monsters, there seems to be noting THAT original anymore, at least what I've seen. Shocked

Here's a suggestion for one of your beasties:

we know that 3 dots must mean something--how about a creature possessing 3 eyes, not one right next to the other, but in a triangulated fashion.

Don't know if you ever saw the classic Forbidden Planet, but the former inhabitants of that planet were thought to be in the shape of a somewhat triangular form (based upon the interesting doorways) within their structures. One of these days, I'll get a scanner, printer, etc. and I'll pencil an image of what I suggest--then all I'll have to do is learn how to upload to the site!

That's more of what I had in mind, but I was thinking that the eyes might resemble and be positioned like that of Chameleons. Whereas they possess mobile and stereoscopic eyes, my beasty would have trianguloscopic(probably not even a word) eyes--say one positioned on the top of it's skull, positioned with an orientation so as to see above and behind, as well as one eye on each side of its head to see below, sideways, and in front.

The outer ridges of the mouth would resemble that of Sea Anemones (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_anemone for a neat illustartion of many types), in that there would be multiple-tubular protuberances, capable of possessing barbs to snare their prey, in addition to neuro toxins to paralyze it, finally retract it into a mouth that looked like that of a lamprey(google images of lampreys).

Your picture with the creature coming out of the red three-dot trailer actually resembles a scene shot in Weirton. It wasn't in a post-apocalyptic looking forest like the one in your pic. It was night on Main St. Lillian. But the back doors of the trailer busted open, and whatever busted them open wasn't anywhere to be seen. It seemed like there was supposed to be something inside - maybe to be superimposed in later. Anyhow your pic reminded me of it. You'll have to look for that shot in the movie.
