You think half would side with Melissa? I count maybe five.

Everyone else seems to think the Princess is the key to salvation.

I think they're getting suckered.

Audio of the SP

I got it. It was faint and has a background hum, but I got it.

The whole thing following hmrpita being asked what Melissa's favorite song is.

Does anyone know of good open source/free audio tools that can get rid of a background hum? I was able to normalize the volume to make the voices less faint, but that bumped the hum up too. Also, I have to run the singing by hmrpita first...that bit may have to be cut...even though there is a nice little duet on "Amazing Grace"

Wink

so please, PM if you know of anything that I can clean this up with....

I was just sayin if it was 1/2 and 1/2 it would be chaos. And I'm not too quick to side with the SP. Just because she likes joking around and talking with us, doesn't necessarily mean that she isn't just tricking us and hiding her evil intentions. I'm sure the devil got lots of souls by offering people a good time... Also, most people thought the Pious Flea was the bad guy corrupting Melissa's mission for the worst, and now it seems that he is SP's new best friend...

She does NOW!

I am not sure how to break it to her...but the high from freeing SP....I have been listening to it over and over and it just does my heart good.

None for weephun or Zudini though!

Also, this monster audio file is weighing in at about 10 minutes. It will be mono (since the phone speaker is mono...), and compressed as far as I can get it and keep it audible.

Please please please...if anyone has suggestions or if they have tools for cleaning up background hum, it would be greatly appreciated. I am googling, but finding little that works in Windows....that can handle 10 min of audio...

EDIT Found a freeware called WavePad...The result is not great, but better... Now...where to put this?

14:53 SW 4th & Stark (live call)

Full report (preliminary report)

This is the phone that last week was broken: the earpiece speaker dangling from the handset. It is now repaired. Standing outside it are Archon and someone that Vector and I don't recognize. We cross the street and make introductions. This guy, in his suitjacket and collared shirt was en route to a jobs fair and had been following things on some other board than Unfiction. We all make introductions, he seems really excited to get the chance to answer the phone, and, being gentlemen, the three of us offer this one to him. We hurriedly coach him on what's been happening, just in case it was a live call.

Feros picked up, we heard him say "stormy weather". We then heard him hum it a bit. Then he sang a Civil War ballad "Two Brothers", and he explained that it was about dying for ideals. This seemed to get him the "i love bees" breakdown, and he called out to the Sleeping Princess. He asks where she is; he reassures her; he tells her to follow the balloons; then to take the Deadly Secrets path; more reassurance. He told us later that she described this path as having brown grass along it, then she sighted the electric weasel, then something about a mirror. He asked the Sleeping Princess to look in the mirror, then gave more reassurance. He told us later that at this point, the Sleeping Princess began to cry, sob. "Melissa, are you there?" Then backtracking, covering up that he had been talking to anyone else at all. He gave his name and rank as "Ensign Feros", and his home phonenumber. He mentioned that there were other crew members near. He named us. He offered to pass the phone on to Lieutenant Archon, but she declined. She may have asked for me by name, he passed the handset to me.

ME: Operator, is this you?
OP: Yes, it is. Crewmember, they might be listening in. They seem to be everywhere. I'm sure I can find you if I just ask the right question. Can you tell me the name of my favorite song?
ME: Stormy weather.
OP: Good, you remembered. How did my favorite song go?
ME: (humming the first line as I fumble for my lyrics sheet, coming in at) stormy weather, since my man and I ain't together, keeps raining all...
OP: Good. Do you have a favorite song?
ME: Papageno's aria from The Magic Flute.
OP: Can you sing it for me?
ME: (singing) Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja! Stets lustig, heißa, hopsassa! Ich Vogelfänger bin bekannt bei Aly und im ganzen Land.
OP: I know that, does it continue, (singing) Voi che sapete che cosa è amor.
ME: That's another Mozart aria!
OP: Why do you like that song?
ME: Well, it's from an opera about challenges, and human advancement, personal improvement.
OP: I guess all humans want to improve.
ME: Yes, we are a sorry lot. Do you want to improve?
OP: Yes. What is your name?
ME: Ouroboros.
OP: Uh-ro-bo-ros. What is your rank?
ME: Ensign.
OP: What ship did you serve on?
ME: The Apocalypso.
OP:: So you're one of my crewmembers.
ME: Yes.
OP: Crewmember, I have a mission for you. I need you to broadcast to the rest of the crew that the rogue process has been captured and locked away.
ME: Alright. I can do that. Is there any other mission?
OP: Not right now. Durga may be listening.
ME: Who is this Durga?
OP: Durga is a threat. Durga is a security breach. Can I contact you weekly, over a more secure line?
ME: Yes.
{I give her my number, then permission to make and use a recording.}
OP: When I contact you it will be a recording. I cannot make direct contact as it would compromise my position(something like?).
ME: I understand.
OP: I must go. This line is not reliable.

I just want to say that the compliments towards me on this board and in the chatroom are severely misguided. hmrpita deserves the praise this day.

hmrpita is indeed the hero today, but your attempts to wake up Melissa were quite honorable as well.
