I was working under the assumption that they were using subdomains rather than registering a bunch of unique addresses to get things rolling. It takes a bit more suspension of disbelief to get past that, but I would hope if the game takes off, they'll expand it onto the web.

Well, after rereading the page again (and shoving my coffee fueled cynicism aside) it looks more and more to me like they are just a third party in the upcoming game. The company claims to the one behind ExperienceIT and the 8march2003 promotions, so I would think that would indicate that the quiz is a way to generate a player base for whomever their client is - hence the requirement to send an e-mail, and the "personalized" responses.

That thought left my mind as I guzzled another cup and starting thinking about the fact that X-IT and 08/03/03 were both just promotional ventures to garner interest in products...one non-commerical, the other decidely so.

Of course, wasn't The Beast primarily the same thing, more or less?
