Pretty much this. Joking about Masky fucking Jay is funny because we don't have a long history in our culture of men being sidelined and objectified via crude sexual jokes. Joking about Masky fucking Jessica is dubious precisely because we do have such a history when it comes to women.

It would have been less offensive if the sex jokes had started here with the noises. Then, at least, you could argue that the joke was more about hearing couples loudly having sex next door to you in a cheap motel than anything to do with gender. But let's face it, this comes after a constant barrage of sexual comments surrounding Jessica which started up almost as soon as she appeared. This didn't happen in isolation, people, and context does matter.

Let me TL;DR this for all you lazy folks hehe
It's OKAY to make jokes about Jay being holed but with Jessica it's just bad because us guys have a habit of making girls sound like objects.

It's for this reason that when someone posts a video (or something) of a talented girl online, most of the jokes will be demeaning sexual jokes, and the minority will be about the actual talent. It's stuff like that that makes women feel hesitant to even admit their gender online.

To girls who have a thick skin: good for you. But you shouldn't try to make the girls who feel offended feel ashamed about it. If they're getting disturbed by it, just cut the shit, alright? It's not that hard to figure out.

I can't believe no one has thought to suggest that maybe Jessica just thinks Jay is cute and is trying to flirt with him. Doesn't have to be Slendy-related at all.

I'm pretty much convinced she's a fellow victim, and I really don't think there's anything malevolent going on. Jay's been alone in this whole ordeal long enough; seems about the right time for them to bring in a compatriot for him to go exploring the dark scary places with. Might as well be a cute girl, right?

If they introduced Jessica simply as a love interest for Jay, that'd be really disappointing.

We'll miss you when our Tall Friend inevitably decides to devour your soul and then makes sweet Slender love to your corpse.

I'm not so much into that, but if Masky were to show up and want to have epic mask sex, I would totally do it. Tentacles are not for me.

Now, everything about that would just plain creep me the hell out. Maybe if Tim lost the mask, Lol.

But in seriousness, I can agree with the idea that Jessica is showing some of the same signs of affliction as Tim/Masky (whatever you guys believe) But I don't think that she is in the same boat as Jay. If she were not only she not be so curious, nervous, and generally unnerved as to why Jay has a camera at all times but she would probably be strapped with a couple herself.
I am also not convinced that Jessica has good intentions. Her "I'm gonna pretend to talk on the phone so I can lurk on this guy in the hotel room next to me" is creepy and weird.
I'm interested to see how awkward Jay goes about this come to jesus meet with her though. Haha.

I think that its too early to judge Jessica. Especially because the distortions barely there, and its not like we're seeing coughing fits and pills. Maybe they had her on the phone in the hallway so that she could talk to Jay and we could find out why she was there- not because she was spying on him. Plus she seems really normal. Like way more normal than any recurring character thus far.

I know I'd be weirded out if I kept running into this guy with a camera (esp. if he seems kinda familiar and you couldn't place it.) who seems to be living in a hotel room for no real reason other than "making a documentary about a hotel". Not to mention Jay probably comes off kinda creepy (he's kinda awkward). Plus he did knock on her connecting door at night- which would be really weird for me if I didn't know about the banging noises.

Yes but if you watch the Entry with the interview with Timmasky, he has a similar distortion. He seems to have a much more prominent effect on the camera when he directly looks it in the lens but for all we know Jess could be inflicted with Slender sickness.

maybe it's just a shitty camera? 0.o but all joking aside, I'm starting to think that if Jessica went through some Sledy/ masky encounter, it would have been more recently. J seems to have gotten over the SM sickness, and he encountered the operator during the 7 months, we should be keeping an eye out for someone following Jessica, I don't think she's 'gotten away' yet. This is mostly speculation, but I'm pretty sure we'll be leaving the Hotel, most likely after he opens the safe.

BTW: has anyone thought of 5377 for the combo? It's jess on a standard phone keypad

That's exactly why I think she's important, in a world of Oddities, the one whom you should look on with the most suspicion is the one who is normal. If I'm surrounded by monsters and a little 5 year old girl is just walking past all of them, apparently oblivious to the creatures, i shoot her.

if the distortion is similar to tim, maybe shes skully? also, we do hear her coughing a lot before opening the door

Sorry for the double but, we have discussed that it could be possible Slendersickness. I'm not entirely sure about what in the earth she IS apart from a girl (ofc T_T) but we have NO reason to believe she is Skully unless we get some more info. I can put it on my Theories thread if you want? (That is that Jess could be Skully)

Akemi-Idane mentioned that Jessica doesn't seem to be acting paranoid enough to be slendy-stalked. The coughing seems to me to be far too obvious a clue for her not to be suffering the slendy-sickness. Maybe she's in the early stages and hasn't seen anything to make her paranoid yet.

But Jessica isn't Alex or Jay. Alex likely first noticed slendy while reviewing his own footage, then Jay we know spotted him repeatedly on the tapes.
Jessica, as far as we know, hasn't been watching recordings of herself frequently.
Who's to say how long it might take a person to spot the operator with their eyes alone? And even then, it would likely be the occasional glimpse of a suit in the distance, and our eyes cant be rewinded to check for terrifying inhuman creatures.
Isn't it plausible she's been followed by him for sometime but has no clue?

Just throwin' that out there.

Well we dunno if Timmasky is masky or not but he has the exact same buzz. We need to wait until Season 2 is over really before we can start doing any conclusions.

There's an interesting notion, that everyone affected by slenderman has a unique distortion on camera.
Good lord, wouldn't that just be the handiest thing ever? You could tell who else was around Alex, who was near Jay, everything, it'd be like a cast-list for each entry.

I know I'm continuing the off-topic, but I want to reiterate this and say that that behaviour is incredibly, incredibly offensive to the female forum members.

D: but what about female forum members who think Jessica's hot? Huh, what do we do?
It is pretty thread-derailing though, maybe fanboying and fangirling should be kept to the off topic thread Smile

Why in HELL has he not bought a gun yet? Even IF slendy is some paranormal quantum state doohicky, how can you be so sure he wont flinch if you fire a 12-guage at him point blank...he's not exactly hard to miss.

Last time he carried a weapon it was stolen. Coupled with the blackouts and fact he's evidently easy to find? He'd just be providing what he perceives as a possibly hostile entity with a firearm.
Or he might be worried about using it during a blackout, if he's getting up to things then forgetting them, who's to say he might not shoot someone?
Also, the bullet casings he found awhile ago imply slendy can't be shot.

could work, we've seen, what, three mask variations? Our original, the slightly different one, and skully.
Back in season one I suggested at somepoint that the two very similar masks had resulted from someone imitating what they'd seen another masky do and skully being someone who understands that just a mask will work.
Considering that we saw the variation of masking in a totheark response, it seems plausible that it was Jay, who'd lifted the idea from the masky he'd seen and that skully was proto-masky.

Dude... have you ever watched porn? Men have been objectified at least as long as there's been porn. The focus is totally always on the chick, you could put a strap-on on a mannequin and call out the guy, and no one would notice. Dudes are like... meat-puppets in porn.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe she noticed weird things going on, freaked out her parents/landlord/whomever and got thrown out, but never thought to try and record any of it on tape and therefore has no idea that Slendy (specifically, at any rate) is behind it? She's quite clearly intrigued by the camera but we have no evidence that she's been taping herself, and in fact it seems very likely that she hasn't been.
