The reconstruction archives came after the dmg archives. They are actually one and the same; "reconstruction.archive" is just Melissa's more human-friendly version of the SPDR's "store.primary.sector.mem.dmg" from when the SPDR was deleted and Melissa took over its functions.

Please do NOT try to hack Akamai. They are a very large hosting company.... they can withstand DDoS attacks on cnn.com (which they host), so they'll have no problems dealing with YOU. Otherwise my professor's husband, who happens to be on the Akamai security team, will be most upset with you. Also, it's been clearly established as out-of-game. Rolling Eyes

It's been confirmed that when Melissa starts her sad ilovebees cry on the phone is the time to call out to the Sleeping Princess. Lt. Gilada tried it out. Check here for the details.

[PARTIAL][SOLVE]

One of the new crew recruits has contacted SP! The answer seems to be say Sleeping Princess whenever Melissa breaks down into her "I love bees" mantra! Check out the interaction thread, page 8 for details of how this went down earlier...it seems like SP even answered the next axon and talked to the manager at Pizza Hut.

Oops, someone just beat me to it Smile

Upon reading the transcript of the Pizza Hut call, it doesnt sound like SP at all. It seems to me that someone is after Melissa herself. This could be the next phaze in the game. The crew must now protect Melissa from an external threat, not an internal process such as the SP or PF. Hmm i guess we will have to see what pans out through the rest of the day.

Maybe she's just "The Sleeping Princess"

Quote:
I spent three months last year studying the history of "Sleeping Beauty".

Here's the meat of my posts:
1st known occurance: Sigmund's Story, Sigurd and Brynhild (SP)
1st known fairytale: The Sun, Moon and Talia (SP)

The "Sleeping Princess" conversion first occured with a Russian play, and Aurora (SP) was the name. Also in it: Carabosse (Mel) is the first known name for the Evil Queen.

What I didn't mention in the other forum is the Snow White scenario. Now there's your glass coffin. I don't think SP's real name has to do with fairy tales. Her stories are two crossed-over to merit that, in my opinion. I think it has to do with the clips more than anything. I emailed her the whole Talia story and called her Talia, because I find that one to be the most "hidden" Sleeping Beauty story, and I wanted to get it out of the way, but I don't think that's the right direction.

Hmm. Good to have an expert around.

(I'm probably going to get a reputation for being disagreeable, but…)

I disagree with the idea that we should be looking to folklore to discover the Sleeping Princess' name. There are a gazillion and one "Sleeping Princess" myths out there: it's an archetype that occurs frequently, probably representing the change of the seasons: the earth "goes to sleep" during the winter and reawakens in the spring. In cultures in which "sleeping princess" myths occur, nature or spring is generally conceptualized as feminine. The male counterpart, that of the nature god who is slain with the harvest and resurrected in the spring, is naturally more violent. <grin>

For example, there's a sleeping princess myth (henceforth SPM for convenience) from the 1001 Nights. The tales from the Arabian nights are most likely translated from a Persian collection known as the Hazar Afsanah which was translated into Arabic c. 850 C.E. As far as I know, the first mention of Brynhild is in the Nibenlungenlied, which dates from the 13th century C.E. So, the SPMs go back even further than you noted. As I recall, there is a very ancient SPM from China, but I have lost the rest of that information.

The point is, they can't possibly expect us to figure out WHICH Sleeping Princess name to call. And even assuming that we had enough information to narrow it down, there's strong enough evidence to keep viable the theory that the SP is not Yasmine, but alien technology. Finally, I think that if they want us to figure out the name, it will be somewhere in the mountain of text the game has given us, not outside it.

I'd stick with the Yasmine theory, or try the numeric code others were suggesting, or stick with "Princess" or "Sleeping Princess" before I went digging through SPMs. After all the options relating to in-game information have been exhausted, then perhaps we should look to outside information. But we should have some sort of system so people aren't duplicating each others' efforts.

And, of course, while I was typing this the discussion moved on. Gilada got a little girl's voice, which may or may not be the Sleeping Princess.

If it is, then I guess her name is just "Sleeping Princess." If it isn't, I think the above remains relevant.

Off topic:

Could someone PM me with information we have on Covenant religion? I don't have time to read the books right now, so if someone else is willing to share their expertise, I'd be very grateful.

Glass Coffin

I find this interesting and pertinent:

Quote:
With the help of my loyal crew, I have hunted down and encrypted the rogue process with a code sequence. It will stay there forever

So, the SP is "encrypted"--perhaps this is the glass coffin. Either way, if we want to free her, we may need to decipher the code sequence in order to unlock the SP.

Yes, that seems to be our new objective... now if only we knew how to work out this "code sequence" and how to use it to deencrypt the Princess when we have it.

There are loads of SP myths but there is one that might fit better, snow white and the seven dwarves. Firstly you have a crazy (in the SP's mind) queen, in the disney film, the coffin the princess was in was a glass one, also mirrors were special in the story and there were 7 dwarves.

The Solve

To avoid metabolic thread degeration, here's the explicit solve info.

Melissa breaking down was indeed when she would digress to saying her emotional "I love bees" mantra during phone calls (live ones only). Check out hives.html on the ILB site to hear an example of the mantra.

To access SP, all one had to do was say, "Sleeping Princess" while the mantra was playing, and the voice would switch to a scared little girls. SP was trapped in her Perdita story dream, and the only way out was to backtrack from her balloons to where she started. Check out http://www.ilovebees.com/onceaponatime.html to hear SP's version of how this panned out.

Basically, SP would get to a balloon, and three were tied to each location. Each had a symbol or writing on the balloon, and she would ask whoever she was talking to for which to choose. If the choice was correct, on to another balloon. If not, SP would let out a blood-curdling scream and Melissa would come back to the line to end the call.

hrmpita gets credit for the solve; she answered "Deadly Sins," then "wave," and lastly "cows." Melissa came back to the phone and freaked out--SECURITY BREACH!!!

More information on these accounts, as well as how the ensuing live calls to Melissa went (including how M was informed of who freed the SP) can be found in the interaction forum link in Mazian's above post. The thread where we brainstormed to figure out what balloons to choose is linked by Howdareyou above.

Best spec for these choices is that Bungie loves the number seven, and there are: 7 deadly sins, 7 oceans/7 colored light waves in the visible spectrum, and 7 cows in Pharoh's dream (Bible, Genesis, story of Joseph).
