I call fake. It does looks very "deviant art".

As a matter of fact, when I saw it, it looked really familiar.
When Cloverfield came out, people were drawing up their own versions of what the monster looked like, for the people who hadn't seen the movie.

All three of them were done by the same person, and all three share some pretty common characteristics with the "leaked" concept art.

Plus, the Paramount logo is very crudely photoshopped on.

AND, going through Neville Page's portfolio of concept art on his website, none of it is really in that style. His designs are mainly pencil sketches, then he sculpts them in CGI.
Fake. End of story. Hahaha.

I think you might have found our man. With the help of his signature on those pictures I did some searching: http://preilly.deviantart.com/gallery/ I do see similarities with his Cloverfield concepts and the new Super-8 concept. Mainly the teeth, drool and muscles. Along with the color palette and the background. Also something interesting I found, for the Super-8 concept art, when I saved the image to my computer and check properties it lists resolution as 72 DPI as well as "Creation Software: Adobe Photoshop 7" and "Color Representation: Uncalibrated". I checked a number of PReilly's other art work and some of it says the same thing. Too much of a coincidence to ignore.
On a side note, this guy does some nice artwork, heck I really like this Super-8 monster concept even.
Nice work, but still fake.

I contacted the person mentioned above and asked if it was his. I got the following response:

Quote:
Yes, except for all the writing.
Where did you find that?

So there. Debunked!

Good call NH. That would have been my next step but had little time today.

More from the artist:

Thanks for the heads up.

As for the Cloverfield art, that was just fan art based on the descriptions that some people had given.
A few days after I created it, I noticed several websites claiming it was official concept art.

Anyways, Ill look into those websites claiming it's Super 8 concept art.

I would hope that for this film especially, they would opt to create an intelligent type alien that looks like it could invent and pilot a craft here from another world. The scariest thing would then be dealing with aliens smarter than us and not just the big ugly. If this turns out to be another monster movie only, it will be a huge disappointment.

Alien's IQ

Ditto!

If this "It" is indigenous to earth (which may not be the case based upon the narrative vids of the filming location, mentioning UFO lights), it's going to be as intelligent as ?, and if that's the case, why haven't we seen it before.

Going on the theory that it truly is "alien" to our world, and enjoying Sci-Fi and all of its possibilities as I do, what if the "It" was more or less like one of our pets, an alien "dog" or "cat," that was inadvertantly left behind on a prior outing to our planet?

But based upon the boring factor with the pace of this ARG, I'm thinking that the STIES could even be good ol Barney the dinosaur who turns evil, or maybe a mutant Tele-Tubbie (or whatever they called those obnoxious little things).

When I saw the image I immediately thought of this guy too. His stuff is pretty good; it was fun watching him try to interpret what the Cloverfield monster looked like before the film's release. He's skilled at creature design; maybe one of the design teams should hire him. It must be kind of neat to see one's work presented as official.
