[SWAG] Light up Frisbees.New pictures and UPDATES!!!
LIT LIST FULL. PLENTY OF NON LIT

So this is the new project, I wanted to make sure I got a respectable list going before I said anything. You guys pm'ed me and we have an almost full list on the big project, but like the last one, names might be dropped and such.

These will be a major pain to make which is why there will be a small number and I cannot guarantee that these will only be $175 before shipping. These are really expensive to make and I once again am not making a profit on these.

So this is the project and if you want on one of these lists please let us know.

We are not taking money yet, there is still a chance that we cannot do this project so I am researching the hell out of this and that is the best I can do at the moment.

So these are the details.

$175 project:

Original Identity disc from the original film. These will be 10.5" and look just like the one that was thrown into the MCP.

There are actually 4 or 5 versions of the disc in the original film and I have chosen the one that is the least amount of effort to fabricate and wire.

But it's still a pain in the but.

The $175 one will have red lights and blue lights and will be equipped with a 3way switch that will light up red and blue and can be displayed any number of ways.

There will probably be well over 200 or 300 lights, we are researching the best lighting method to use. EL tape and EL wire are OUT OF THE QUESTION because they are not bright and cost efficient for this project.

They will be battery operated by common batteries also in research but we are thinking about 9v batteries and it can possibly be equipped with an ac adaptor plug (you must supply your own ac adapter)

The $100 project:

will be a plain non-lit disc that will come with red AND blue rings that you can display as itself.

The list for the non-lit discs can go as far as we need it really...If we have to the molds for these are much much easier than the "Geometric Answers" but we still have to pay for them over a certain number.

The list for the light up version will NEVER go over 30 so after 25 it will be considered, but after 30 that is it.

The $100 version will be easy to make and ship, but you guys don't understand at this point the amount of work that is going into this and we are still researching it.

The guy that is wiring these for us is the guy that wired and help restore the ACTUAL ECTO-1 for the recent Ghostbusters video game and the guy is ACES!!!

So here is the list of people so far, there are 4 spots left for the lit version and many spots for the $100.

The $100 may be cheaper, I am still waiting on quotes from the plastic guy. But it's the same guy that did our "Geometric Answers"

Once again we are not taking money yet, it will probably be another two weeks before we start on this as the guy that is doing the "geometric answers" wants to make sure those are shipped first.

side note

If the interested list goes to 25 we will do 25 of the $150, but please don't post if you can't pay the $150.

I have to order certain things and I have to have the money for it.

So hopefully if 25 ARE interested in the $150 project, then we can do that many, but it will never go over 25.

It's evolved to this!

You can't love a movie like Tron and not want some of the tecnology in the movie. Hell, in June I'm buying an all-black R1 and guess who's going to be rocking the EL'd out leathers? Yup, me.

I'm down for this, I'll send the money tonight.

To those that are upset or affended by the the projects we are doing on the forum I sincerely appologize. This was never my intention. I (and The Ape) simply had a dream and wanted to share it with the rest of our family. Trust me, if i made 150K a year, i'd probably just raffle these things off.

This is my first ARG and I only discovered ARGS because of my love for Tron; and although i am trying to follow Super 8 as well, you'll never see me with this kind of involvement and passion in any other ARG.

I hope that I have not offended anyone. I post as a guest only because I no longer have the privilage of posting under my username. I hope this is a glitch and not made as an attempt to shut me up. That can be done with a pm.

I don't know if you're referring to anyone else, but as for me I'm far from offended...
I'm not sure why you can't access your login though - what's the issue? I doubt any other mods or admin have "taken action" at all; you haven't done anything against forum rules (that I know of) Razz

I just did a bit of thread maintenance to clarify some of the topics, that's all.

My dedication to TRON

Yeah and like Steve this is my first ARG. But this is probably the only ARG I will participate in.

I just ruined the rest of my life with a $120,000 student loan for my masters that will follow me til the day I die.

And the only reason I ever wanted my master's in animation, is because TRON and Star Wars are the movies that got me into that. I saw Tron when I was 2 years old, or whenever they premiered it on the Disney Channel back in the day and I was hooked since.

My Star Wars friends in life and on my Star Wars forum could care less about TRON so you guys are the only ones I can share my love with.

Like Steve, if I made killer money, I would just give this stuff away, but I don't even have a job, so I am always taking a risk by spending my hard earned money.

AND for those that CAN spend the money, I will always do my research, my due dilligence, and my best to make sure that money is spent respectfully, and very well.

There will be other arg's going on, but this is the only one that I will probably EVER participate in.

projects

To all those that have chosen to participate in our first project, please know that we haven chosen to dedicate ourselves to finishing that project first before delving into this project. while i will be spending the rest of the day today, tomorrow, and quite possibly the weekend to getting all of the shapes completed and ready for you folks, this leaves John with idle hands, so he is researching a creating prototypes 1500 miles away. Once that project is complete, we can start on the manufacturing of this project. I just want everyone to know that this project will not delay the previous project.

To those who participate in this project, thank you for helping John and me make his vision come true.

Yes thank you guys so much. My main hope since I just graduated is to work for a toy company. So YOU guys are trualy making a dream come true for me.

I never would have thought that anyone would EVER want a toy I designed and to think that our first set sold out is truly flattering.

Since the most expensive parts of the "Geometric Answers" were completed in the first run, I PERSONALLY will be giving one set away if and when we do the second round.

And from this secret project, I will personally be giving away a $75 piece if I can.

And Yes, the "Geometric Answers" are going to be finished first. I have done all I can at this point for that project, Steve has taken the reigns and done a phenomenal job with the guys finishing this project.

I am like the housewife at home getting stircrazy trying to keep myself busy while I find a job.

And I found a side project which right now is still in the research phase.

And even if we do a second run of "Geometric Answers" it will be on both me and Steve to get it done, but my participation will be very limited.

So I am literally trying to keep myself busy til I find a job, and until everyone has their sets of our first project.

So, we get a short break in the marketing and hype? Cool!

Who'da thunk the ARG site would be more embracing of this stuff than the main fansites.

LMAO!!! yeah, I would go to Tron Sector, but that place gets about 2 posts a week.

and out of the 42 sets, we only sold one over there.

So here we are again.

It's going to be a whole minute before new ARG kicks in if and when there is a sequel so I figured I'd keep you Jimmies busy.

Ok...

The list has gone from 20 to 25 for the $150.

It will NOT go to more than 25 and I am not sure if there will ever be a second run of these.

Just so you guys know, the $75 item CAN be modded to be the $150 item, it won't be hard. But I am paying someone A LOT of money to get the $150 items done, and they are a SEASONED PROFESSIONAL!!!

WOW!!!

I did the post after animal house and got two seperate pm's that said

Double secret probation...i mean project.

This one filled up fast.

Anyway yeah this is a short run and will be a lot more fast paced than the first project.

If you are curious as to what we are doing don't hesistate to shoot me a line.

25 will hopefully make these worth some scratch in the future.
