Judging from what happened to Ryan, we assume that HABIT has some sort of control over the Rake. And the Rake has a thing for Alex.

I'm thining Alex is inHABITed too, and is probably the Rake's liason to Habit. The downside to this relationship is that the Rake is probably going to eventually go all RAKE on Alex. Habit doesn't want to lose an outlet, so he sends enough info to his other outlet, Evan to save Alex...without blowing his cover.

An alternate to this is that Jeff is inHABITed and Habit was just using Alex as a Rake treat...but had to change his plans when he realized that it might bring too much attention to himself if Alex died. This would help explain some of the "Jeff staring in the camera" footage in the last hidden video

See, I always thought that the reason the Rake seems to be targetting Alex, is because HABIT wants to distract Jeff. See, Jeff was doing a lot of research on Corenthal and the mining town children, which means he was finding things out about HABIT. Then, the first time the Rake showed up was when they found the Dead Girl, who is presumed to have some link to Corenthal, and who was trying to find the trio. HABIT had the Rake kill her to keep her information from Jeff, and now, I believe, he's having the Rake terrorize Alex to distract Jeff. The 'security camera' video of Alex was just sent because Jeff didn't seem to be paying enough attention to Alex.

Hm. That actually works pretty well. Adding that with the shredding of letters...it works really well!

Yeah. And while the Rake kind of seems like the type to kill people randomly, he doesn't particularly seem like he'd be interested in shredding random papers without a reason.

I'm betting that HABIT's the puppet master, but that he's not controlling Slender Man. In fact, Slender Man appears to be more powerful then him, capable of overriding either his control of Evan or his posts on Twitter.

So the question is -- why does Slender Man tolerate him? Does he have something to gain from the partnership? Or, have we misinterpreted the entire relationship?

I tend to think of EMH Slendy as sort of operating above and separate from HABIT.
