Publicly, Bungie has not admitted to working on a PC version of Halo2 at all. Given that it took at least a year for Halo to come to the PC (longer maybe? I'm not sure), your options are narrow.

I'll edit that a bit. It's not that Bungie "has not admitted" to working on a PC version. they have publicly stated that they are not working on one. They didn't make one for Halo, either. It was done by an outside company, a "port" of Halo for XBox.

Actually, Bungie originally started work on Halo as a Macintosh and PC game from the start. Remember, Bungie was originally a Macintosh only game maker. They were shooting for a simultainious release on both platforms until Mirosoft bought them in 2000 (I think). After that, M$ said that they would release a PC and Mac versions shortly after the xbox vers. came out. I guess 2 years is a short time for M$.
As far as Halo 2, I have heard nothing either way about a PC/Mac vers., and I don't really expect one. Halo has become that 'killer-app' and Microsoft will no doubt use Halo 2 to drive up xbox sales, just as they did with Halo 1.

Umm... yeah, I know all that (aren't those early videos of Halo when it was a Mac game beautiful?). It still doesn't change the fact that, as I stated, Bungie did not make Halo for the PC or the Mac. They STARTED making it for both, way back when. Then they DID make it for XBox. Then they ALLOWED someone else to make it for PC and Mac. Wink

In any case, my general gist, which CoffeeJedi seems to have gotten, was if you want to play Halo 2, I REALLY suggest you get an XBox, because you are going to have a LONG wait until it comes out on PC, if ever. Smile

And, CoffeeJedi, take heart. It's not so bad to get used to playing with the XBox controller. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's easier than going the other way (from Controller to keyboard/mouse). And, as everyone else has stated, Halo is THE game to play with the controller since they were literally made for each other (there is, for instance, subtle auto-aim on the XBox version of Halo that is not on the PC version, to make up for the lack of precision inherent in thumbstick vs. mouse aiming).

Plus, since you (CoffeJedi) will be playing with all your ILB peeps, you'll be able to get used to the control scheme in a friendly environment. I mean, not that we (or I, at least) won't kill you, but we will do so in a pleasant manner. Very Happy

(Maybe we should rename this thread "Encourage CoffeeJedi to get an XBOX"?)

If there's any console that suits a pc gamer the best, CoffeeJedi, it's the Xbox, trust me. As for controllers, you'll just have to try out what's available to see what works for you best. I started on the duke (the big original controller) and haven't left it... but they released a smaller (what I consider) half-PS2 controller for all those small-handed people who kept complaining Razz I personally just can't use it... if they had left the button configuration the same, then maybe, but they shrunk it and moved everything around, and just, blah! (That's the Controller S BTW, the now standard controller that comes with all xbox's)

You know what they say about gamers with small hands....

Small controllers.

Myself, I use the original size.

I love the Logitech Precision controller. It's just as wide as the Duke, but shorter. It looks pretty sexy (can a controller look sexy?) The button layout is very comfortable also. Except for hte back and start buttons, those take some getting used to. But you just need them to quit or look at the score, in which case you're not really doing anything that matters anyway.

There any chance of creating a SPARMY clan? Or would that be too divisive?

Count me in. I'll have Xbox Live by the time November rolls around, so have that bee logo ready. Very Happy

Perhaps!

I agree. When I tried to play the demo version of Halo on a friends PC (mine can't handle it) I was running around like a retarded monkey. I've played only a few PC games since I lack in the hardware department, and when you show me a screen with the button configurations I look at it cock-eyed thinking: How do you use all of these keys when you need them?! I hope you can adapt well enough, CoffeeJedi.

I'll see you all in-game mid-November.

Why not. One clan two division. Then we can have some real Crew vs SParmy battles!

Heehee..

I got my XBox by winning a bet with my wife, otherwise she would have NEVER let me get it. Shocked

Okay, that's two Xboxes sold by this ARG that I know about. If this is representative, then yes the marketing aspect of this ARG really is working as planned.

w00t! That means more ARGs in the future! Smile

Well, since Halo 2 will be Xbox only for the forseeable future, EVERBODY will have the same "aimbot". (Which isn't much of a 'bot, according to those in the know.)

-- Steve thinks it isn't a cheat if it's built in to the original system and everybody literally is using it.

I got my Xbox when i was left my job it was my goodbye gift. At first i was like Shocked but then i remebered that we had like 20 in storage Confused so it was like them giving me a toaster if i worked at black and decker.... not saying that i don't love my baby (her name is shelia btw) It did take my wife sometime to get used to it though i had to keep buying games that she would like and play. And then slowly buying games that i enjoyed you know games were i blow up stuff

Edit: TMI

2 xboxes, but how many xbox live accounts will be opened? That is where the real killing will come in... I, for one, have avoided the xbox live route (though I do enjoy a good system link now and then), but I see an XBOX LIVE account in my future as I would not want to miss the joys of being frag'd by killer bees.
