Feeling no pain could imply an inhuman entity, or even a human with sociopathic tendencies.

I'm curious by how The Observer refers to us as it's 'children', and even describes feeling pride in us. Not sure what to make of that. However, the statement on how all that we see are shadows being cast strikes me as Plato's allegory of the cave. Using that allegory, perhaps The Observer is parallel to the freed prisoner, able to see the true form of things, unlike us who merely watch shadows. And if we further follow that analogy, chizuru could be right in the ⊙ symbol representing the sun, as Plato also used the sun as a metaphor for 'The Form of The Good', the source of illumination. This could mean that The Observer is trying to show or lead Noah to 'the truth', or something along those lines.


Just want to say that I really am impressed by your analysis of the riddle, however, I'd like to point out that it is a common and previously used riddle. Either the Observer browsed Google and found something that perfectly fit his analogies or he didn't think that far into it XD

I like your Plato and The Cave observation too. A lot of the sites I looked at to do with the theories on the pineal gland spoke of 'illuminating' in the same way. So maybe that's something to bear in mind. I'll have to talk to a Plato-mad friend of mine.

I remember thinking when I read this riddle that it was strange that this "follower" was one that specifically stalks in the daylight. Now Slendy has been known to make himself known in the day, but I think traditionally he is more a creature of the dark. Presumably this OBSERVER is also someone who is waiting at Victor Park. If we take his not-exactly malicious tone and consider that he aligns himself with daylight, could we be looking at a benevolent character? Maybe someone who is about to shed some light on the mess around Noah?

Just because he's creepy doesn't mean he needs to be evil.

I was thinking it might be more of a neutral entity, or undefined. If we go with the angle that it's 'illuminated' (for those that don't know Plato's allegory of the cave, imagine someone 'unplugged' from the Matrix), it might be beyond our definitions of 'good' and 'evil'. It may be judging Noah on a scale we don't understand, or may be trying to guide him into the light. Or, The Observer could be some delusional cultist who believes he's 'seen the light', perhaps having his brain scrambled by Slendy, and is just plain crazy. I guess we'll have to wait and see! Wink
