Oh, would it?? D: Oops, I wouldn't mean to do that.

You must remember, I'm new to ARGs (see # of posts). It's gamejacking to elaborate of my fictional player character?

I don't think creating a fictitious blog that tracks you-as-a-player-character's experience through the ARG is gamejacking. Lots of players have done just this sort of thing in several games! In Sammeeeees & Sammeeeees II, people kept in-game blogs, in Eldritch Errors there were several in-game blogs kept by players and even a player-created/run in-game radio show.

The fact that you're posting about it on unFiction and making it very clear to other players that it's your content makes a blog of this sort player-created content, not a gamejack. A gamejacker would be trying to redirect players to the content and egging things along to disrupt the game experience. You can always put up a small disclaimer noting that the content on your blog is not in-game, as well.

Hey, BitGamer here.

I posted as a guest for the Flynn Lives campaign, and I figured that since I'm getting involved in another ARG, I might as well join. I just sent in my application to Saver Corp. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.

Did a quick search of Portsmouth VA, couldn't find SAVOR, but as it's a new company (and a secretive R&D group), I'm not surprised I couldn't find it. Anyone have any other luck locating them?

I would say odds are good we won't.

If SAVER were a real government contractor, it would be a matter of public record. This being a game, it might be hard for them to backstop THAT far. :) Also, girlwhoruledtheworld is having posting troubles but wanted to share:

girlwhoruledtheworld wrote:
Earlier Victoria mentioned Eric worked for Xe:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/deadlineusa/2009/feb/13/blackwater-corporate-name-changes

Victoria also mentioned Eric might have changed his name a few times.
From Wikipedia, "Xe Services LLC (pronounced /ˈziː/ zee) is a private military company founded as Blackwater USA in 1997 by Erik Prince and Al Clark.[2][3]"

Just wanted to share what I found out. :)

Indeed, Blackwater/Xe is a real (and really big) defense/security contractor, which you may remember because they get in real trouble all the time.

Likewise, Victoria suggests Erik was in the Army. His Twitter icon is an Army star (see army.mil for reference). So that makes sense!

I switched to firefox, and posting seems to work now. ^^

Also one more interesting thing,
"Xe is currently the largest of the U.S. State Department's three private security contractors." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackwater_Worldwide

On Saver Co's website;
"SAVER recently became the number one defense contractor for the U.S. State Department. With over 1,287 employees deployed throughout over 80 countries, their experience is second to none"- http://saver.co/about/

Well most likely this is not an in-game cloo but rather a website snafu on the PM's part.

But you never know with those nifty ARGs. In any case there are two versions of "Our Agents" page.

Version 1: http://saver.co/agents.php
Version 2: http://saver.co/our-agents/

version 2 doesn't work

Just got a reply from Jean Evans:

Hi Nathan, I can always use help getting the word out about the company, among other things. Tell you what, I will include you in my list and if you have time to help, all the better.

Thanks, and welcome to SAVER!

Woohoo! I'm officially a lvl 3 Research Agent.
I'm pretty positive on how the levels are working so far now...+1 for twitter (edit: noticing that there are a few lvl 1 agents listing a twitter I'm guessing this is for both adding your twitter and following saver?), +1 for extra detailed experience.

I was level 1, and gave twitter and followed, so don't think that's worth a +1.

LOL, Brad Leard email

I emailed Leard earlier, to show some initiative. He's none too happy.

My name is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, I recently joined your Development team. I'm looking forward to the task at hand. I'm highly motivated and always looking forward, that's why Development is my thing. That is also why I emailed you, even though Ms. Alverezin HR said not to. But after she leaked your email I knew I had to contact you directly and let you know I am up for anything! You will not regret having me on your team. I've crafted many RPG weapons, armor & items and will use these skills to the best of my ability for Saver Corp.

>So what your telling me here, XXXXX, is that despite what someone at SAVER told you not to do, you did it anyway? This is an interesting way to get things started, that's for sure. I don't necissarily mind hearing from you, but doing something she clearly told you not to do is not the best way to make a good impression here.

I'll be talking to Victoria about this now. In fact, I'll let her decide if you are a good fit for this company or not. She seems to know you well enough to pass on my email address after all.

P.S. I just couldn't stop from ratting out Victoria. Geek

So, I'm assuming we'll be seeing a new HR contact in the future?

A nice D Augmented would be nice here!

Anyone read anything about those birds dying in Arkansas, by the way? Interesting stuff...

Damnit. Thought I might be able to get a line on the inner workings of SAVER, but no dice.

I don't have one, sorry. In fact, for the most part they are not allowed.

Eric (our CEO) only allowed myself to create and manage the @savercorp account for a while. That was it, until recently when Jared Hoit (he's our new CIO) convinced him to make one (and allow Jared to make one himself).

Those are the only Twitter accounts within SAVER, at least as far as I know.

I think they might authorize Twitter accounts later on, but for the time being it's a dead end.

What surprised me was how quickly she responded this time. The first time I contacted her, it took several hours to respond - this time, it was just under an hour.
