William Gibson has a blog so I'm posting on the forum to let people know about the game. Shall I send them only to the main site or to here as well?

I'd send em both places... if they're not interested they won't stay long...

Heck, I'd send something to William too... I think he'd like this, if even to lurk and see how things work!

*DM adds about 50 lbs more pressure to Mr. Hon to produce quality... Twisted Evil

Well, oddly enough the book has started to come up quite a bit in relation to Project Syzygy. I don't know how much the two will actually be related, but it's definitely mentioned a good amount.

Orphevs posted the above in News and Rumours, but I thought I'd respond here to keep it all neat.

IMHO, the book is only mentioned in relation to Syzygy becuase of many of the concepts and ideas it deals with. Not only the footage itself, but also the community which has developed on FFF, the strong opinions of the footage followers, the immersion of the culture, the whole issue of whether Cayce's path through the story is coinicdence or whether it's all been planned out, and, of course, the somewhat surreal edge that hangs over the book. There are definitely parallels that can be drawn between the book and this form of entertainment.

Also, when Syzygy were recruiting, they obviously needed some way to let people know what their concept involved without actually giving it away. Listing things which have influenced Syzygy was presumably their way of pulling in people who, in the short term, would be drawn to the project, and in the longer term would understand what they were trying to achieve.

But hey, they're just my opinions. Apologies for the poor sentence structure and excessive use of commas in this post!

Ah. Yhea, I figured that was basically the intent. Though I have to say that I have already learned in my short time exploring ARGs that one should never forget infomation that is presented to them and this, coupled with how often I've seem various pop/not-so-pop culture refrences in the few ARGs I've browsed around in so far, makes me think some of the refrences will come up again. Then there's also always that little unresonable voice in the back f my head that tells me to keep up hope that I'll feel, though nowhere near the same as, at least a little more like Micheal Douglass' character or like Cayce Pollard than it's usual for an ARG participant to feel. (This isn't of course some sort of wild expectation I'm trying to hoist on the already pressured enough PMs... or is it? Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil ) But really in the end I'm pretty much of the same opinion as Fi that the refrences were just there because the PMs wanted a way to show people what to expect from an ARG without giving anything important away.

Heh... hey, the same disclair applies to my post. I'm one person that will never blame anyone for that as I myself am way too guilty of using too many commas and having terrible sentances to call anyone out for the same. English is just way too wacky of a language for me, give me numbers and schematics any day.

i agree, i think i am guilty of being one of the ones that wanted the book to have more to do with the game than it really did. a hons answer about FFF in the chat sinches that the book was just there for advertising.

This might be trout, but Pattern Recognition is being made into a movie: http://imdb.com/title/tt0409138/

Perhaps Project Syzygy will tie into that?

Also: Hello,
I'm new around here.

As far as I know, that's not trout, so thanks *muchly* for this information Smile I'm looking forward to it already! Can't find much more on Google, so it must be at that ultra secret stage still, and one site even mentioned a 2006 launch :/ Oh well, Syzygy is teaching us the virtue of patience...
