i'm not 100% sure ifd we've determined the state of life jersey's dad is in, but Durga says that if she was thinking clearly she would have never told him about the affiar his mom his having... couldn't it also be possible that now that durga is "thinking clearer" she doesn't want to upset jersey even more than he already is by telling him his father's dead...
just wanted to throw out another random theory... don't really think it's true but i thought it none-the-less... (:

First Post - Been trolling for a while.
Lets list out some assumptions that we are working with:
1.) Jason (Jersey's dad) is "The Castaway". [IMO: this is as close to fact as we get in this game.]
2.) Durga (as Melissa) met Jason, and liked him.
3.) When Durga crashed onto Jersey's computer, she suffered severe memory loss and "may" not remember meeting Jason.
If we acquiesce that these assumptions are correct, then the fact the Durga ended up on Jersey's computer cannot just be random happenstance. There has to be some method behind Durga being on the computer of the son of an ADVANCED RADIO OPERATOR at the same moment as a SYSTEM WIDE RADIO FAILURE .
[SPEC] Could Jason have sent Durga to Jersey? Could Jason have some influence over Durga? Why would the PMs give us the castaway paragraph if there wasn't a stronger relationship between Jason and Durga?
BTW, does anyone know of any other reference to a ship called the Soberg? Thats Jason's ship.[/list]

Gloryfish, I'm glad you started this topic. I think this is one of the best "cliffhangers" we've had yet in the audio drama, and I've been dying to see some [spec] on it.
Personally, I don't Jersey's Dad is dead, but something is definitely not quite right. Before I get into that, here's the clip from the on_reach wav that pretty much confirms (at least to me) that Jersey's dad isn't dead.
on_reach wrote:
Jersey: Is my dad on Reach? I mean, was he? You can find out, right? I gotta find out right now.
Durga: Yeah, I can find out. Hold on. Ok. He wasn't on Reach.
Jersey: Thank god.
Durga: He's on deep space reconaissance on a ship called the Soberg.
Jersey: Phew. Oh, god. I don't know why I just thought...I was sure he was on Reach for a refit or something.
Though Durga doesn't want to hurt Jersey, I just don't get the idea that she'd concoct a lie about where he currently stationed when he was really dead, either
However, there is definitely something that Jersey's mother said to him that stunned him. So much so that he makes Durga replay the conversation over and over again . But... what? One thing that is especially curious is this quote:
not_enough wrote:
Jersey: I'll take care of you, Mom, you don't need this creep.
Bonita: Will you, Jers? What if they send you off to fight, kiddo? What if you decide you hate me because of ...because of something I done?
Hmm... because of something she's done? Obviously she's not talking about the affair -- Jersey already knows about that. There's something else, something that's only hinted about in the again clip.
Okay, so if we can assume Jersey's dad isn't dead, and that the bombshell isn't the affair, then what is it? Somehow I tend to think that the bombshell ties into why Durga is with Jersey in the first place, but I dunno. We've got these pieces of info that are curious, but I can't piece them together yet. Jersey's dad is obsessed with the past, Jerseys mom did something "that would make you hate me". Jersey is spoken of in the past tense. I dunno.
So, at this point, all I got is a couple theories, in two flavors:
(spec): Simon is Jersey's biological father. That could be the meaning behind the line "Yeah, your father hates worrying about money. You're more like Simon that way.".
(wild spec): Jersey is a flash clone?? I don't put much stock in this, but I gotta throw out something .

I hate to bring this up right now, but didn't we determine earlier that Jersey's dad was The Castaway, and that he was on the Apocolypso when it 'had an accident'?
He may already be on earth, and is busy dodging 'bus accidents' right now.
J^2 and Jan speaking to McKaskill, McKaskill and Melissa discussed the Castaway/Artifact, Melissa has her cross-time link to Durga, Durga tracing Jan on Jersey's behalf... That's a pretty tight circle, isn't it?
That spec looks to be borne out one way or the other pretty soon. I wonder if what Melissa's hiding from Durga is crucial to proving the identity of the Castaway. (As well as, y'know, the purpose of the Artifact and the imminent threat to all life on Earth and stuff.)

This is good spec, let me open it up a bit.
"Something I done" is getting prego with Jersey, outside of the marriage.
But maybe not with Simon. Maybe Simon wasn't the first time.

WOW, this is great SPEC... I have been trying to form ideas and questions in my head on this story arc but could not find words. Even with so many unanswered ???, I feel like I see the picture a little clearer (and I do buy into the Simon is biological father and kept secret from both Jason and Jersey).

It would seem Jason found out at some point, because he "hates" Bonita for what she's done, yet he loves Jersey, even though he's not the real father.
It seems to fit. Good call nobodyman

Hey thanks! But I imagine we'll really find out if it's a good call when the next set of wav's come out (at least I hope). As for Jason hating Bonita, I haven't read that. Did I miss it or is this a spec based on bonita's conversation with jers?

The woman's voice Jersey listens to in again.wav does NOT sound like Bonita. Bonita could be on the Sopranos with her think "Jersey" accent. (I'm actually not joking here...) The woman in _again_ has what sounds like a British accent.
That would explain why she "loved" him, past tense.

Whatever, symantics.
So no one has any idea or spec about why Durga ended up on the computer of her "friends" son?

Not knowledgeable of Halo background (just borrowed 1st book from aspmaster), but perhaps she got there in direct violation of (I hope I am referring to this correctly) the Cole Directive because she may have contained such valuable information that it was worth the risk to keep her active rather than terminating her construct. Jason may have have sent her to Jersey for just such a reason not knowing about the damage that was soon to happen. This could be part of Durga's curious nature as she tries to repiece her memories back together from prior to waking up and wetting the system.
(oh, btw papamarx, I still do not know what a troll is, so I just playing with ya. hehehehe)

'semantics' Symantic is a corporation (so's SieMatic)... hehe I can't help it...
and it's much more than semantics... there's a huge difference between lurking and trolling, and it can change your reputation in an instant... the latter for the worse.
But anyway... there's no definite or generally accepted spec yet as far as I've found... other threads are discussing it though
