Hey guys,

newby to ARGs here. Following Marble Hornets, but since that one is limited in it's interactiveness I decided to find a second one Smile.

This one seems really interesting, but as far as I read the thread I think all mysteries (apart from the big one) have been solved Smile

I'd like to mention one thing about the books though: as far as I can tell and know them they all have to do with either war or other conflicts AND/OR strange, new worlds.

Now although this seems to be a given for science fiction, Pratchett has written many other Discworld books that have entirely different focus (ie Movies or Music).

So I think this is the PM telling us what kind of direction he's going in: War in the Past and/or A world different from ours.

Hope I didn't say anything too stupid on my 2nd post here Smile

Good to have you on board Pepz! Don't worry, all the mysteries are far from solved, we are just getting started!

I sent wallace what we found out about the alternate energy, but told him to be careful not to divulge any information to Mr. Style. Let's see what happens.

Sweet!

Intrigued (bored) last night, I decided to send an email to Mr Style:

Quote:
From: tyler123456SPLATlive.co.uk
To: lewisstyleSPLAThotmail.co.uk
Subject: Edward Maad
Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 20:23:59 +0000

Mr Style,

I have heard that you are looking for the whereabouts of Mr Edward Maad. Please send me $1000 thousand million dollars (in used bills please) to the above email address and I'll give you his location.

Regards

TB

Checked my emails and received this reply:

Tyler,

Your figure seems a little low considering how much the professor is worth in today's Alternative Energy market.

And even though my employers are quite well off I'd very much doubt they would be willing to hand over cash with no evidence that you know where the good professor is. Perhaps you would care to tell me what Professor Maad's breakthrough in alternative energy is?

Lewis.

Lol

Jumbotron, you don't beat about the bush do you? Well, I wonder if that means he actually doesn't know what Maad has discovered, or whether he does know and was trying to test you?

Whatever it is, he's worth a lot more than $1000000000000, so must be pretty awesome. Also, bear in mind this is set in England, I can't imagine going to the cashier and trying to exchange all that for pounds...

I see an even bigger logistic problem as he wanted $1000000000000 in used bills sent to an email adress Laughing

Very Happy

I was expecting an automated response, hence my surreal email!

I take it that we shouldn't trust Lewis Style then? What if he's the next clue? Perhaps we should give him the password for the rar file - he might be able to offer some insight to the wav file contents....

Hmm. If we do give him the password to the file we should only do it in exchange for other information we need, I think.

Theres the rub, though. We have to be sure we are getting information that there is no other way to get - otherwise we lose our leverage for information we could have gleaned in another way...

What we really want to find out is:
- why is professor maad gone?
- why is the consortium chasing him?
- what does the audio-file consist of?

The only question that lewis might be able to answer is the second one...

From the email Distilled received from Lewis:

Have you heard about wireless power? No cables required. Imagine an energy source that doesn't require a costly infrastructure to deliver it? How much cheaper would that be for the end user?

I remember watching this video about wireless electricity when it was first posted.

I too, sent Lewis an email, asking if he could help locate Edward Maad. His response was basically the same, quid pro quo.

I've received your email, however I doubt I will get time to reply.

Anything useful I will post up as part of the case files/blogs, of course I will credit you in the files.

Enjoy

We've all gotten that before.

Style seems fairly desperate to get info from us without hinting at what he might know. Wallace didn't like the guy and I think we can't trust him. We need to figure out a way to get him to supply some info first. And if we judge it to be useful then give him the password. (Or maybe not.)

Wireless Power
There is a Wireless Power Consortium but it's for the charging of small devices (cellphones, ipods, etc).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Power_Consortium

Also it occurs to me that Nikola Tesla was working on wireless transmission of power in the unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project and at his lab in Colorado Springs (unfortunately not in 1929).
