Considering starting a Slender Man related webcomic...

My brother and I are considering starting a webcomic involving at the very least, Slender Man. I am wondering what kind of content the slendy-fan community would be more willing to see in such a series. Would you rather see comedy and jokes based upon Slender Man (such as the epic Splendorman)? Or would you rather see a very serious Marble Hornets style series, but expressed in webcomic form? Maybe a mix of the two, in a Ctrl-Alt-Del style, switching between storyline and occasional joke comics?

Please, tell me your thoughts.

A happy mix of EVERYTHING. Much like the mythos itself.

I would like to see a somewhat serious one but with a little comedy. You should go with the more newer Slendy like in Marble Hornets and EveryManHYBIRD.You should also make a symbol and hide it though the pages as well as Slendy, put them like in small things like posters and graffiti.
Edit:Kinda of like Waldo or how Disney puts Mickey in random spots

You could do unrelated story arcs, with different characters and plots, all connected by the presence of Slenderman.

That way you could try all sorts of different things: Joke arcs, serious Marble Hornets style stuff, different adaptations of Slenderman (Like a violent Slenderman like in The Hiking Fiend, or a Slenderman that is always watching, not doing much like in Marble Hornets, or with or without the Rake like in Everyman HYBRID), different characters, different ways of telling the story.

Also, doing it that way will make it so you don't get fatigued with one story or one plot, everything is always interesting, you can see what does work and what doesn't, and even do continuation story-arcs or prequel/sequel type of arcs.

If you decide to do separate story arcs, that may call for separate art styles. Just sayin'.
But yeah, some different Slendermen in different situations. Just for the Mind Screw factor.

Or maybe same art style but different art direction. Like maybe one story arc would be styled like a documentary while another could be like "found film", like how in Marble Hornets J is uploading Alex's videos that he...found? was given? I don't remember, MH isn't my favorite Slenderstory.

But different Slendermen, different situations, different art, not only is it great Mind Screw material but it also lends to the fact that there is no official Slenderman canon, that Slenderman is created by us. That would be pretty cool. Make sure and notify us if you actually do this, I'm definitely interested.

As soon as you mentioned CAD, I immediately thought of Slenderman rushing into a hospital, tentacles flailing, to find The Rake curled up and crying in a bed.

I request that this is the first issue of your comic.

OP here, I burst out laughing when I read that. I don't think it'll be our first comic, but if we go through with it I guarantee it will be done at some point.

I'm getting hyped up enough, and getting enough storyline ideas that I'm feeling pretty confident about it. The real question is whether or not my brother's art skills are up to the challenge, at this point.

He's, of course, seen up to the latest Marble Hornets, and I've shown him clips of EverymanHYBRID and TribeTwelve. I'll have him start sketching things and watching more of those two series for now.

I'll be sure to keep you guys updated.

1. Include the 3 major vlogs (MarbleHornets, EverymanHYBRID, and TribeTwelve) as well as some of the prominent blogs. (Maybe others like jonclubs or WHY DOES ME MAKE MOVE NOW girl)
2. MAKE IT FUNNY AS FUCK
3. Spend $20
4. ??????
5. PROFIT!!!

Seconding Neoplayer2's suggestion about doing a bunch of different stories connected through Slenderman's involvement. For pretty much the same reasons, plus the fact that I think he lends himself well to shorter stories, since people do have that pesky habit of not surviving long around him. You could even have other elements which survive from story to story, such as a particular character or organisation, and do callbacks and cameos to earlier stories if it seems like a good idea.

I'm going BLUH at the idea of including MH/TT/EMH/etc stuff in the comic, though. It seems like a really bad idea to me, since it would take the focus off your own ideas at best and be a gamejack at worst. You'd also be tied down to the rules of whichever universe you used - and if you used more than one of them, you'd have to deal with the fact that each of them has a Slenderman (and other villains) with different goals, different symbols, different abilities, different MOs.

Besides, existing stories are familiar. If we can look at the Slenderman and say "okay, you can teleport and you lurk in the background and you steal people's memories", he's more understandable and therefore less frightening. If we look at him and go "well shit, I know he's bad news but this is a new story and he could be capable of anything", then you have way more scope to make him creepy and unpredictable.

That's not to say that MH and EMH can't be scary, because they demonstrably can, but if their patterns are repeated too often then those patterns will become stale and unfrightening. Think back to the first time a man in a mask fell onto all fours and charged towards J down a dark corridor. Now consider that there are pictures on deviantart of that masked man nomming cheesecake and looking adorable. Cheesecake nomming is not the kind of jumping-off point you want for your dark horror series.

I SEE MY TL;DR SKILLS ARE STILL STRONG

I know that being Slenderhaunted is often much harder on the woman than on the man. However, I also know that it doesn't necessarily turn you into a sad, paranoid camera-grasper for the rest of your life.
